being from Germany, I would really enjoy having a nice mechanical keyboard with brown cherry switches and the N-key-rollover, however, I can't seem to find one that has a german keyboard layout (with the ö, ä, ü vowels). How do european starcraft pros solve that problem?

Obviously if you lived in the US or in South Korea you would have much better access to the right gear (for example TLO using a dt-35 i think) but what kind of keyboards do european players like morrow, whitera, dimaga, huk etc. use?

I know there is a german version of the filco 104 with brown switches keyboard coming out in January but it will cost around 200$ and i would prefer getting a keyboard rather sooner than later. There is also the cherry g80-3000 but i think that it doesn't have the NKR technology. Also there ist "Das Keyboard Model S" which seems to be solid as well.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

OP needs to be corrected. Elitekeyboards doesn't have Filcos for sale at the moment (not out of stock -- totally not for sale) due to issues with the manufacturer. It does have Topres and HHKBs though.

edit: sorry i was mistaken, i thought u were talking about keyboardco.com.

regarding Elitekeyboards: i will not go looking for you guys wherether any of those shops have filcos in store right now, this thread is just a tool for your own research.

It's only in Chinese unfortunately, a shame really because it is a very good shopping site, one of the best in Taiwan with really good range.

I don't know anything about keyboards but I just skimmed the geekhack article. Those old IBM keyboards were mechanical? I grew up using those IBM keyboards and I hated them compared to more modern keyboards... I dunno I feel like the action on those were too high and it took too much effort and time to type. Are modern mechanical keyboards better?

Gonna add this here too from the Filco thread.

Also, anyone who is interested in the Duckys should check out the following links. Ducky 1087 and Ducky 9008 on GeekHack.

Apparently, there a few issues with the build quality of the Duckys but these were mostly noticed after ripping them apart and they maybe issues only if you are total purists like those on GH. I am sure no regular joe would notice them given they are priced nearly 40% less than the Filcos. But still something worth keeping in mind if you are in for the Duckys.

Plus, I also found this VR-Zone thread which had some interesting stuff regarding the Tenkeyless Ducky keyboard.

The more and more I read about it, the Duckys seem like perfect alternative for people looking for a budget mechanical keyboard that can offer a similar experience to the Filcos without paying way over-the-head for them.

Anyone have any specific stores in Canada that carry them? So far, I'm pretty much only found newegg.ca that carries one model (not inc Steelseries and Razer), the Rosewill RK-9000 with blues.

I want to find a store that carries some form of browns, I'm kinda scared to ship cross border because I'm not sure how customs and that stuff works out.

IBM Model M from 1987. Seriously though I need a new mechanical keyboard that's not as loud - that particular keyboard is...pretty noisy for someone who is now in college with a roomate, although it was fine when i was at home =_=

i own both ibm model m and filco cherry mx blue. From my experience the model m is almost twice as loud asthe Filco and also emits something i would describe as a hollow metallic echo with every keystroke (from the springs).

also to ppl not recommending the filco blue because of the double tap problem (reset point of the switch is higher than the activation point) might want to look at this video... this guy doesnt seem to have any problems with it

Filco's are out of stock on elitekeyboards and the 7g is out everywhere.

Is the 6vg2 better or worse than 7g?

If you don't need the wrist rest, the extra USB hubs and audio ports, then no, the 7G isn't better.

As for other "where to buys"
You can buy Steelseries 6GV2/7G (currently out of stock) and Das Keyboards at NCIX (Canada/US). You can also buy Steelseries 6GV2 and Razer Blackwidows at MemoryExpress (Canada).

What do you mean? Like having hangul and English alphabet printed on the keys? Probably not, they might have a Japanese version though. The picture all have Chinese character make up + English (Taiwaness version) but the keyboard themselves are language neutral.

I'm using a SIIG mechanical keyboard with white ALPS switches. Where's that option? :p I used a DT-35 prior though.

Oh and yes, I did see "other mechanical keyboard," I'm just being smart about it.

Why does Elitekb stop selling Filco ? -___- I mean, they can't handle the heat ? FD's keyboard help them to sell like thousands of kb, they out of stock for like 2 days.
