I want to be able to run sc2 everything ultra/max settings even in 4v4 and not have problems alt tabbing or running say, pandora in the background. Maybe eventually stream, but above is my basic wants. Any input on this build? Any changes that would be worth it, or if anyone knows if Cyberpower or other options like that would be worth it or am I really better off building it myself? For graphics card I'd rather get a single 7950 or 7970 depending on how much you want to spend on it. SC2 doesn't scale so well with Crossfire anyway and it's not too graphically intensive - you'd probably be totally fine even with a single 6870. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182066 This is still good even at 10$ higher price than it used to be http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220569 This ram is cheaper I'd consider a SSD such as Crucial m4 128gb which is cheap atm, also you need to change that HDD as it's too costly: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148442 You need a CPU cooler such as hyper 212 evo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099

Would a 400-450 power supply be enough? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161399 Is that a good choice on the gpu then? I'm not too familiar with what would be good RAM wise. 8gb of that RAM would be good enough? Is it worth it getting kingston and more then 8gb? I vaguely know what a SSD is. Would that be replacing the HD?

The Rosewill Capstone 450 is sufficient for such a build. If you don't do anything but gaming, browsing, and stuff than all you need is 8GB. Memory is easy to add so it doesn't really matter... if you find yourself needing more than you'll just add more when the time comes.

Kingston is something I kind of would avoid as I think they still are 1.65V which is pretty bad. There's really no difference between the brands and Patriot is a fine brand either way. 8GB should be enough unless you multitask a ton with photoshop and perhaps video encoding, in which case you can just buy 2 of those kits. Yeah that graphics card is fine if you want to spend that much money on it.

If you intend to CrossfireX 7970s than you might as well go balls to the wall with every component. And btw every 7970 comes with a CrossfireX bridge. If it doesn't than I wouldn't buy from them.

I'm just now researching about SSD. That would essentially be the hard drive if all I'm doing is gaming and streaming etc correct? Removing the crossfire everything seem kosher?

Next time it happens open the case and check if the sound is coming from the psu, take a recording of it and rma the psu to corsair. They will probably ask you to go into your mobo bios and turn off any power saving setting like CE1 for intel, ie speed stepping, as that is the likly cause. So you can check with that next time. The coil whine shouldn't be too much to worry about it's not going to damage anything although it may sound bad. If you can't get it to stop if you turn off such settings rma it with corsair. It's a common enough problem for them http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=85166 Not sure why corsair units exhibit this problem more, perhaps it just a testament to how much product they move.

I really miss my CRT, and I wish they made them in widescreen and high resolution. Its called a Sony FW900. Its wide screen and does 75hz at 1080P. Unless you're expecting 2560x1440 in a 23"-24" monitor...actually it does 2304x1440 @ 80Hz so its actually not too far off.

LCD is a persistent image, so it just creates a black screen then the new picture, which is why lcd's can't flicker like an old tv or crt This difference is why CRT's in the later years when resolutions go bigger had bigger Hz numbers, they needed more Hz in order to avoid a flicker and a smoother image, else people can tell the black box inserted in order to create animation. Which is not needed to create a smooth image in a LCD. I think by motion you're thinking of the fuzzyness of the picture, assisting with a psydo motion blur. LCD's being crisp actually hurts it's ability to create smooth image.

1680x1050 res high graphics [not ultra] is what I'll be recording on. Does anyone have a link to a thread discussing stream/recording computers specifically so I don't have to go through 921 pages, or possibly have a pre-made list of custom computers that can stream/record HD SC2 high quality?

He's lucky because they did actually make a widescreen CRT that could push fairly high resolutions at high enough frequencies to prevent annoying flickering. Its the Sony FW900 (and all of its rebrands).

I know they are two different things - hence I state they need to be both. My internet is sufficient for streaming[10 up/down] and I live in the U.S. I may overclock but not by very much if I do. I don't need an OS. Just pure computer parts.
