You need PCI-e slots. PCI is an old standard that is being phased out completely. That Mobo is fine unless you need something it doesnt provide.
Sapphire 6870 is fine.
Go with the top bundle, although the bottom one isnt bad either. You arent going to be overclocking so the "k" has no value to you. Your, uh, "standpoint" on XP is also valid for Win7, or you can get a student discount for Win7 and knock off a chunk of change on the OS.

well my friend, can give me XP for free, i don't need the new WIN to play sc2 do i? but yes i will look into getting a student discount on that..ty

Thats a core i5-650 (last generation) with a Radeon 5570. Radeon 5570 will shit the bed if you even show it the box art to a modern game. I know this because I have been on an i3-2100 system with one. Good for things like SC2 and D3, bad for Crysis 2 and the like.
For $680 you can get way way better.

Without needing an OS keyboard and mouse though. Even then you can get

Hard drive prices notwithstanding.
ALERT: Just a sample example.

I wouldnt run XP on that machine. For starters you bought 8 gigs of RAM when windows XP can only allocate 3+gigs.
Also Windows XP cant run DX11. You really need to upgrade to Win7. Its good. Way better than Vista, which was awful.

@HuggyBear:
I wouldn't get the standard Z68M USB3 if you're planning on overclocking, which is what I assume the i5-2500k and Hyper 212 EVO are for.
Larger potential places to save money are to (1) forget about overclocking so drop the Hyper 212 EVO, replace i5-2500k with a cheaper i5, and get a cheaper motherboard or (2) get the HD 6870 instead of the HD 6950 and save the $60 difference. See the impact of these potential changes: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/290?vs=331 http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/core-i7-2600k-990x_9.html#sect2
microATX is no problem really if the extra slots aren't needed. Some microATX cases are cramped; others are not. Elite 341 should be okay if you're not expecting much and don't care much about computer noises. It's a popular low-budget pick.
If you want to save money and keep the i5-2500k, I would get the AsRock Z68 Pro3-M. http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=17351
Neo Eco 450C is okay as you said. It's a little better than the Silverstone Strider Essentials anyway, except for needing to use a power adapter that will come with the graphics card anyway.
I would not get a PCI or PCI Express wireless network adapter, particularly for a config like that, particularly if the case will be on the floor. Reception sucks close to the floor, and the antennas are stuck back there, furthermore potentially being blocked by the chassis. One of the USB options, particularly with an extension cord (which may be provided) to move it around and not have it stuck to the chassis, is generally better if range and reception may possibly be a concern.

If you could salvage a hard drive from somewhere, that would also be an amazing boost.

so with a build like this, what kind of range should i be looking at?

As much as you can provide it really. Your Computer build itself is fairly good.
|
Can anybody suggest me a good build that can run SC2 fairly good without lag, and maybe the upcoming Diablo3?
I'm noob at this and need help!
My budget is around 550-600$ and I'd like to have the computer built within the next month

Sorry I'm really bad at this, but my friend told me to get Windows 7, but I don't know about the resolution, do you have any suggestions?
|
The resolution is what resolution you play the game at. Or.. just tell us what size of monitor you are using right now.
|
I'm planning to spend another 150$ get a new monitor as well, since mine is quite old
So my total budget would be around 700-800$
|
For around $750 (all prices are estimates), this is basically what you should be getting:
core i5 2400 / core i5 2320 $190 h61 $60 500gb hdd $90 8gb 1333MHz $40 case $40 power $40 6850 $140 dvd burner $17 monitor $120
|
Thanks, i'll take this in consideration
