Im good with computers but would rather not risk fucking something up and dealing with the hassle of putting all the parts together. So I have been looking into Ibuypower Dell xps etc. But I feel there are other companys that do a better job and give you more bang for your buck. anyone who wants to play around with my budget and post the links here would be doing me a favor. I am trying to make this computer for gaming and raping the new games that come out. So keep that in mind. Better options as in what... Ibuypower and Cyberpower are the cheapest gaming prebuilts available in the states. You get what you pay for. If you build yourself, you'll want to decide if you want to save a grand or so (use one regular monitor), game on a very large (27"-30") high resolution monitor, or game on an eyefinity setup (three regular monitors next to each other acting as one large screen). If you buy a prebuilt, forget the latter two options. For more advice, consider which of those options you'd want more & specify the games you like to play/other uses of the computer.

Currently the cost of equivalent components would be like $450 ($100 for Windows and $110 for the hard drive), so I think it's reasonable. Adding in something like an HD 5570 up to HD 6670 would be easy and would make medium or possibly even high playable with decent fps, depending on the screen resolution. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131342 edit: so if you would need to purchase a hard drive and Windows, there's no way you can piece together something better than that for the price.

From searching around on this thread I saw Medrea post a list of stuff on page 887 which seems pretty close to what I want, except I don't think I need near as nice of a graphics card. Anyways, here is what I'm looking at getting and I basically want some feedback on it: + Show Spoiler + i5 Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115074 Seagate Barracuda 1T Hard Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148697 Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138340 Power Supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371030 Graphics Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131342 Edit: Forgot RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820576003 Will that all work? I have the optical drive and such from the old computer and that should work fine. I also have a 22" monitor which I believe should work. However, I need to find a case that will fit all this. Any suggestions? (The one suggested by Medrea is out of stock: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811815004) Thanks!

Basically I want it to be able to run stracraft II on decent graphics (like medium or so) as that will handle anything else I would be doing. Probably the hardest things I'll ever run on this machine is some light photoshopping, Skyrim, and SCII. If you want to order from two different retailers, you can get a Coolermaster Elite 370 or Bitfenix Merc Alpha for under $40 at NCIX. You're missing memory. A 500w unit is unnecessary for such a configuration. You can get a 400w unit such as a Corsair CX, Antec Earthwatts, or Antec Neo Eco. @Pville3 looking around: Case: Rosewill something or other ($35) + Show Spoiler + http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147123 It's cheap. I have no idea if its a 'quality' case. Probably not, but even a shitty case should work for this build. Take care to not cut yourself while building the computer. A probably higher quality case for $5 more: http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=63256&vpn=BFC-MRC-100-KKX1-RP&manufacture=BitFenix&promoid=1363 Mobo: BIOSTAR H61MGC ($50) with code MBINTEL112118 + Show Spoiler + http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138332 The cheapest. Will work. Has both VGA and DVI connection if you need to run on integrated graphics for awhile. There's an open box version of this for $10 less. CPU: Intel Pentium G850 ($88) + Show Spoiler + http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116397 One of the faster basic Intel dual cores. You could move up to i3 (slightly more speed and hyperthreading), but that's not needed for gaming, and is $40 more. If you want to go to a slower but still current-gen dual core, you can go as low as $52: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116409 I don't recommend it though, if you want a bit better StarCraft 2 performance. For other purposes dropping down shouldn't be a problem. RAM: Kingston 4GB ($17) + Show Spoiler + http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=52411&vpn=KVR1333D3N9%2F4G&manufacture=Kingston&promoid=1368 If you want to deal with Newegg only: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313097 It's RAM. Technically 2x2gb is a little better than 1x4gb, but this theoretically allows you to upgrade to 8gb later if there is some bizarre need, and is about $2 cheaper. PSU: Corsair 430CXv2 ($46) + Show Spoiler + http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=60345&vpn=CMPSU-430CXV2&manufacture=Corsair If you want to buy Newegg only: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139026 If you don't mind dealing with rebates ($55 before $20 rebate): http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=63238&vpn=P1450SX2B9&manufacture=XFX DVD: Liteon ($16) + Show Spoiler + http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=45244&vpn=IHAS124%2D04&manufacture=Liteon&promoid=1065 If you want to go all newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106289 Technically you can do without a DVD drive, but I wouldn't recommend it. GPU: Following Myrmidon: 5570 ($55) + Show Spoiler + http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131342 There's an open box 5670 for $52: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102870R Total recommended all-new parts: $307. If you want to be adventurous and get open box parts, you can get the same motherboard for $10 cheaper and a slightly better video card for about the same price. There's three basic ways to drop the budget below that: run without a case (not recommended but doable if you don't have pets/aren't worried about dropping something on it), drop down to the cheaper processor listed above (not recommended for an SC2 computer), or not buy a video card until later (gives you the chance to try out Intel integrated graphics on low settings for SC2 - maybe it won't seem to be complete fail - or more accurately save up a few more bucks if you're that much short but need a computer now.) Edit: Spoiler + links fail. Oh well, copy-paste is your friend.

Asrock H61M-VS is fine. If you are getting a P67 board than you should get a core i5 2500k to overclock it. $90 for Asrock P67 Pro3 is a good deal.
