Can overclock a K-labeled processor (which you're not buying - but if you were, this motherboard would be a good choice) You can use a PCI expansion slot (old sound card or *snicker* modem?) It has SATA 6gb/s ports useful if you ever upgrade to an SSD (this is the only real benefit, and you can get that benefit cheaper if you want it) Disadvantages of the more expensive mobo: is bigger (shouldn't come into play) Can't support integrated graphics (probably won't come into play) So no, you do not want the more expensive motherboard. You actually should probably get the Asrock ASRock H61M-GE http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157256 It's 3 dollars more expensive than the one you were considering, and you lose a pci-e expansion slot for a PCI expansion slot, probably a slight downgrade, and drop from 2 PS/2 ports to 1. But you get a little bit better audio connections, 2 more RAM slots, and DVI & HDMI connection options in addition to VGA if you need to use integrated graphics. Probably none of that will matter, but it is a tad more flexible for $3 more. As for hard drives, there's not a lot of difference between 7200 RPM hard drives. Don't get the used one though, for $5 you might as well have a return policy backing you.

On January 18 2012 13:50 AAyeR wrote:+ Show Spoiler + also seems like a lot of people complain about ASROCK technical support, if i have any problems with my mobo, ie. arrives DOA, i would like it to be handled smoothly, i've heard asus has better tech support, it is my first time buying parts online, and i know the online business can be shady. Dealing with the manufacturer has nothing to do with purchasing online. If your product arrives DOA, you deal with the retailer (Newegg). Whether you purchase from Newegg or from Bestbuy, you can pay extra to deal with the retailer instead if that's who you want to deal with in a year or two.

If there's a DOA part, you want to get a replacement through newegg (which will handle it well and quickly), not the manufacturer. Customer support is really only for handling products that become defective later yet not before the warranty's run out. Most stuff probably fails early enough to get it handled through newegg RMA or dies late enough that the warranty doesn't cover it anymore.

External wifi adapters plug in through USB. HDMI is useless for a computer. All better monitors should be connected with DP, thunderbolt, lightning bolt, or whatever will be the new standard.

You dont need a cooler for that system because you arent overclocking, so the stock fan is just fine.

I was wondering if it is "bad" for me to watch movies straight off my portable hard drive instead of dragging them over. My friend said that it might take life off the hard drive and could potentially, in the long run, be bad for it. The reason why I watch them off my portable is because I don't want to wait to drag them over (I watch a lot of HD movies). Thanks!

Yeah the standoffs for a case that allows for ATX should also allow for mATX. If it somehow doesn't. Then any recent ATX case will accomodate an mATX board.
