The mobo is a bad choice because Gigabyte boards suck and don't use UEFI bios and because it costs more.
No it can't, for SLi this is suggested:

But why do you want to SLi?

Here's what I got: + Show Spoiler + Corsair 650 TX (1st gen, $60 with MIR) 8GB GSkill Ripjaws 1600 mhz RAM (was $30) Cooler Master 690 II Advanced case XIGMATEK Gaia (got it when it was $5 with MIR) This monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001483 I was planning on getting crossfire 6870s, an i5 2500k, ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3, and w/e else I need next. Is that a good plan, or should I get a cheaper graphics card or something? EDIT: I have a 500gb hard drive already (probably had it for years lol)

The Corsair TX650 wasn't exactly the best purchase. It may look like a sale but Newegg is just getting rid of old stock.

If you want to play something else than SC2, you will be bottelnecked by the GPU most of the time. Have a look at 560Ti or 570 if it fits your budget (which should be). Btw, this PSU is useless. You don't need that much W for a single-GPU rig. Edit : my bad, time to sleep I guess, tough week. u_u

My info: Budget: Not really an issue basically I just want to get a system that I can play SC2 and other games on as well as possibly do some streaming. I believe I can get this for around $1000 including monitor; but if I need to spend a bit more that's okay. Resolution: I have been playing at 1440 x 900 but that's because my current system is old and shitty. I would like to up the resolution but I don't really know what is desirable. Basically I just want something that runs reasonably well. Using comp for: gaming, streaming, watching movies, porn. Upgrade cycle: Hoping to just buy this and then not have to change anything for 2-3 years When: pretty much ready to buy today. Overclocking?: no, unless there is a compelling reason to do so OS: yes I need one Second GPU? No Where am I buying from? As a lazy un-knowledgeable person I was just going to order from Best Buy unless there is a significant advantage to getting from Newegg. Live in Canada by the way. Thanks to anyone who can give me advice!

Resolution: Need a graphics card with an HDMI output so I can set it up on a TV. Use: Gaming. Upgrade cycle: Not for a long time. When: Now. Overclocking?: Yes. OS: Have one. Second GPU? Have a GTS 250, would like to SLI/Crossfire, yes. I already have a Q9550 I plan on using, so I don't need a CPU. I also already have a case. Have a HDD aswell. I need: Power Supply Mobo RAM 2nd GPU + Bridge

Thanks to anyone who can give me advice! It's an okay price, not overpriced but not heavily discounted. It's a configuration that's capable of playing Starcraft II on ultra and other games on medium to reasonably high settings at 1080p, as well as streaming. If you go through NCIX instead and have them assemble for $50, you'll be able to get a better graphics card instead at the same price. If you assemble yourself, you'll save a few dollars.

Retailers won't be carrying P45 or X48 boards - if they are, it's going to be overpriced. And SLI with a pair of GTS 250 is a bad idea unless you got the second GTS 250 for free. A Radeon HD6850 would offer better performance and can be had for as low as $130. Most of the inexpensive good power supplies have sold out. I guess the Seasonic X660 is a good investment at $100 if you plan on keeping it for your next configurations as well: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=65390&promoid=1115 If you want something less expensive, you can look into getting an XFX Core Edition 550w, Antec Neo Eco 520w, Antec High Current Gamer 520w, or Seasonic S12II 520w. All of them are basically the same so just get whatever is the least expensive one.

Also, would I have any real benefit to SLI with a more recent card with my GTS 250 or should I just stick with a single GPU, a more recent one? If so, what motherboard do you recommend that can SLI the two cards? Or do you always have to have 2 of the same card to SLI?

That motherboard isn't exactly a great choice. It may be inexpensive but the G31 chipset was released with the 65nm Core 2 processors and these motherboards only use DDR2 memory. DDR2 memory isn't exactly cheap these days since it's no longer the desktop standard. You should look for a P43, P45, or G4# board that supports DDR3.

GTX 460 isn't a good choice. Radeon HD6850 performs similar and is less expensive. Radeon HD6870 performs better and is about the same price at $170. That motherboard is a 2+1 phase design with no mosfet heatsinks, I'm not sure how far you would get on that thing...
