$132 after rebate is not a good deal. This is the normal price of a 6850.
More than enough.
|
Yeah, I'm using that PSU for an i5 2400 and 6870 build.
The 6850 is usually around $130 after rebate, and the 6870 is usually around $150 after rebate. I've seen the 6870 fall as low as $140 after rebate as well.
I was busy lately and completely forgot every fucking rebate with my latest build for my brother, lost about $100 worth .

Aight, so my build just arrived in the mail from Newegg. However, I think there's a problem-- I was checking how the motherboard would fit with the case, and the I/O panels don't match up. I re-checked the parts online, and it appears that while my case is ATX compatible, my current motherboard is an ATX-micro. Is this an issue I can fix easily, or do I need to replace my mobo? Luckily I haven't put my processor into the motherboard yet, so I should be able to return it. Here are the parts to which I am referring:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129066 Antec 300 Illusion Mid Tower (I originally had an Antec 100, but I got the 300 for like $5 more with a promotion).
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138332 BIOSTAR LGA 1155 intel micro ATX board.
Thanks!!
edit: The mobo came with an its own I/O panel, but I can't see an obvious way to get the current I/O panel off of the case. I've read that I can just pop off the panel, should I go for it?

mATX fits into ATX so you are most likely installing the motherboard incorrectly.

Yes.
Also, as SkyR said, the mobo should work fine. I also purchased an Antec Illusion 300 with an H61 microATX mobo.

Oh, btw, I never remembered to thank this thread and it's wonderful contributors in helping me build my PC. It was quite easy, and there weren't any hassles. Thanks dudes!

Oh, gotcha thanks

the neo eco 520w is enough for two 6850s lol

Hi!
I was wondering if someone could review this build:
+ Show Spoiler +
I was looking for something in the 500€ price range, mostly for SC2 / D3. Any input would be great, I really don't know much about this stuff. Also I will need a monitor to go with all this, so any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks in advance. This thread has been really helpful so far.

Thank you
Yes, the hard drive is there as a reference, I will try to get it cheaper somehow.
Can you suggest a monitor that would work well for this build?

Preferably any with DVI, HDMI, or DisplayPort is okay, though you could use an adapter to VGA if necessary. Just get one with the price, look, features, etc. that look okay to you. It's better to see in person (though store lighting is often too bright to get a good idea), but most cheaper monitors look mostly the same anyway.
There are no compatibility issues to worry about, and cheaper monitors use TN panels that have acceptable response time, and they also have little processing so acceptable input lag for gaming.

Usually is convenient to have an optical drive, only usually around $20 or 20 Euros. Not necessary, but still quite useful^^.

Would this PC be sufficient to play SC2 and any newer games? If so, what can I expect off this specs, and above all else, is this PC worth this money?

It'll be able to play Starcraft II on ultra at 1080p but for newer games such as Battlefield 3, you'll be limited to ~high settings. It seems reasonably priced.

Once again, thanks for your help :D

Yes, I will get an optical drive too. I didn't include it because it was not relevant for the build. Thank you anyway. Any help is welcome

This thread has been really helpful so far. It's good. Don't get the outlaw that was previously mentioned, it's significantly worse. I also wouldn't get a HDD at the moment as they're all overpriced, at least not from that store.
This is the cheapest 8gb of RAM: http://www4.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=38042&agid=1192 x2
I'd change your graphics card to this 6870 if it fits the budget / if you need the upgrade: http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=46795&agid=1004
The power supply is good although CX430 is cheaper if it's enough for you: http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=48790&agid=1627

I'd have recommended the old Aria.co.uk build that had i3 540 overclocked to 4.5Ghz and a GTX 560 for 550£ but it seems they've removed it from their selection. Shame.
If you want the best you can for around that money, I'd take this prebuilt: http://www.aria.co.uk/Systems/Gaming Range/Gladiator/Gladiator IBIS Deluxe Intel Core i3-2100 @ 3.10GHz DDR3 Gaming PC w/ FREE Steam Voucher DiRT 3! ?productId=46328
And change the processor to i5 2400(+~57£) and change the graphics card to GTX 560 Ti(+~84£) and change the case to BitFenix Merc Alpha(-~5£)
That way you get a machine with i5 2400 and GTX 560 Ti for a total of about 536£. Pretty hard to beat.

Heya, plan is to be upgrading my comp, and possibly play battlefield 3, which is sort of the benchmark here. Not on max settings, but likely high. Assuming I wanted to do so, is what I put up a yay or nay? And if not, what alternatives for the motherboard as plenty of alternatives have already been suggested for the cpu? Thanks.
Well, if you're not OC'ing and going for a regular i5, any H61/H67 mobo with the features you need will do just fine. Motherboards have the most negligible impact on performance (they are the least of your concern there).

hope this fits in this post! but what do you guys think about that comp:
CPU (Prozessor): Intel Core i5-2500, 4x 3.30GHz Mainboard: ASUS P8P67 B3, Intel P67 Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1024MB RAM: 8GB Kingston ValueRAM DDR3-1333 CL9 HDD: 1TB - , 32MB Cache, SATA2, 7200 rpm drive: LG GH24NS70 24x DVD Netzteil (Power?): 530W - BeQuiet! Pure Power L7 Case: Coolermaster - Sileo, CPU-Cooler: Coolermaster HyperTX3 Silent-Cooler: 2x Noiseblocker BlackSilent Lüfter
costs like 900€ i know that one will run sc2, but what about games like mw3 or skyrim (on "good" settings)? should i change some parts or am i missing something?
hope you guys can help me out!
thx in advance!
