Pick a H61 or H67 motherboard with USB3. A good option is the Asrock H61M U3S3. Pick the least expensive GTX 560 Ti of your preferred brand. Core i5 2400. Crucial M4 64gb. Wait until HDD prices go back down.

Maybe I had Opera in the background, but it'd seem unlikely to happen because of that.. Hardware acceleration is what generally causes AMD's drivers to shit their pants. PowerPlay has three states it runs in. The second state, where the GPU is being used but isn't being stressed, is broken. The memory in this state is clocked far too low (we're talking about 100mhz low), so it crashes when ever its being used in this state. My own computer has run one of the 6950 for a long time though with lots of different multitasking applications and the same drivers without any issue whatsoever... I think it might be related to the CF, but I'm not sure what's making it crash. The permanent fix is in the BIOS level I believe so that might be why your card doesn't shit its pants. Its a commonly reported issue so I think it might be worth a try. All of those AMD cards that crash while running Flash can fix this problem by creating a profile, with the correct memory values, within Catalyst. To be certain its the incorrect memory value, you create a new Catalyst profile, find the text file for that profile (its in C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\ATI\ACE\Profiles), and check the given memory values. PowerPlay will have three states and for cards that crash often, its generally missing a whole digit or something stupid. Needless to say, changing the memory clock to something sensible will generally solve the issue. This also solves the flickering dual monitor ATI Overdrive issue as well. Of course it could be something else but its still worth checking out regardless because it solves a lot of issues AMD cards tend to have. <Profile> <Caste name="Graphics"> <Groups/> <Adapter name="PCI_VEN_1002&DEV_6719&SUBSYS_31211682&REV_00_4&7768020&0&0008A"/> </Caste> <Caste name="Platform"> <Groups/> <Adapter name="PlatformAdapterUDID"/> </Caste> </Profile> How will I know whether that's incorrect or not?

+ Show Spoiler + ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I at least haven't ever seen a bench like this, and this might actually be relatively useful for the people considering a 6990, rather than the 1080p benches. An interesting thing to me is that it scales really well with AAing until a certain point when it just stops working alltogether.

XFX Radeon HD6770 @ $110 ($90 after mail in rebate) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150540 This is capable of playing the game on ultra at 1080p so ya this is overkill of a graphics card if you don't plan on upgrading your monitor anytime soon. i bought a new computer monitor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009341 that gpu is alright right? already bought it but i went back and realized you put that spoiler ^. jw -.-

I have an idea about things but if I can save $50 or so then thats helpful. There usually isn't any deals on H61 / H67 boards because they're already pretty inexpensive as is. Also, the core i5 2400 doesn't get much deals either. You'll see a promo code on Newegg from time to time but it happens much less than it does with other processors. The core i5 2500k is $190 which is the same price as the 2400 from Newegg: http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=57962&promoid=1208 The core i5 2320 is $175 which is 100MHz slower than the 2400: http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=63959&promoid=1208 Crucial M4 64gb sometimes goes on shellshocker and that's a either you know about it or it's over when you find out. I've only seen the 128gb go on sale for $170 in Canada which happened twice, a few weeks ago. GTX 560 Ti goes on sale from time to time but there aren't any good ones atm that I know of. There was a EVGAGTX 560 Ti -AR for $220 a few weeks ago.

It's a bad build. You have a second generation Phenom processor which is shit in comparison to Intel's offerings. You have a 750w power supply but your motherboard is not capable of SLI, you won't even reach 50% of its capacity. Not to mention Hec isn't that great... The difference between 1600MHz and 1333MHz is negligible. To waste money on memory before your other components which give a greater increase in performance is not a wise decision.

EDIT: I was at the London technology fair yesterday, and a guy from Gigabyte recommended this motherboard - The Z68AP-D3. Does this work with my case or is something else needed?? I'm not from the UK or Europe. Here's a quick overclockable build from Amazon that totals to £674 (without a capture card, I don't know anything about capture cards so can't recommend any) capable of playing the games on reasonably high settings. This is only to give you an idea of what you should be looking for. Someone else familiar with the UK should be able to help you better knowing the pricing and retailers. If you want Nvidia instead than switch to a GTX 560 Ti. If you want to do a multi-GPU configuration than switch to an Asrock Extreme series of boards or another board capable of doing so. If you're doing a multi-GPU configuration, you'll want a ~650w power supply (XFX, Antec, Corsair, Seasonic, and some others are names you should look for). You can switch to a 128gb Crucial M4 if you want.
