![]() @ Womwomwom & Jingle There was definitely something wrong with my RAM as this morning I thought I had got everything stable at 4.5...then it started BSODing so I ran a blend test and it failed at like test 5 for some reason. I think Jingle caught on to that particular problem as since I upped the DIMM voltage slightly to like 1.55, there hasn't been any problems since. I guess mushkin..I am slightly dissapoint? and Womwomwom...yes that is the fractal core 3000 :p @ Myrmidon Close as you can get I think. It's the PC-K60 which the only difference as far as I know is the # of fans and price? And that ATH A700 was your recommendation from the headphones enthusiast thread. I'm currently trying to OC my MSI hawk 460 but i'm a bit disappointed I can't hit above 900mhz clock even with 1.1V. (+100 on the afterburner correct?) At 900mhz exactly I can drop the voltage to like 1.050V and thats stable though. Any one have experiences to share? I know there's alot of 460 users out there due to SC2. I'll post some pics in a few

or http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0340478 I'd consider http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0369115 as an alternitive video card. Sound card seems totally overkill. I'd change your SSD into 2x http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0364779 in RAID0 Finally, the powersupply seems awfully costly, what about this quality PSU: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0348767 for only 50 bucks?

Any recommendations on a PSU then, since the CX 500 which has the 2 connectors I need costs $45 after rebate compared to the $21 of the CX 430? I'm just looking for a decent deal, it's not as if $45 is out of my price range for the PSU. Most people just care for things like a fast boot and a few applications to load fast, and everything else can go on a storage drive 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM. I don't care for RAID 0 just because it's twice as likely to lose your shit. Well, SSDs are very reliable in the first place so they're good for RAID 0 in general. I'd have suggested the 120GB Agility3 but for some reason they only have 60GB and 240GB ones. If you don't like RAID 0 I'd suggest just a single 60GB one.

You're talking about SSD reliability and SandForce SSD's in the same paragraph... RAID0 SSD's is only really useful if you need to open your PDF copy of the entire library of congress. And if you don't get 60GB SSDs in RAID0, a single 120 is faster than a single 60, since the controller has more channels to work with, or some such.

Why would he need a 7200RPM HDD when he has a 128gb SSD ... ? I'm pretty sure the Crucial M4 was chosen because of its reliability... Sandforce and reliability? Lol does not compute. I don't see why you would suggest a mediocre Sandforce when Marvel is less expensive?

I don't believe OCZ are known for having reliable SSDs? I've had a Vertex 2 64GB that has run flawlessly over the past year, but I believe their failure rate (in genearl) is higher than most SSDs? And not just the Vertex series but all OCZ SSD's. Not sure though.

The Corsair CX V2 series is one of the least expensive power supplies that can be recommended, counting rebate obviously. So if you want to deal with adapters than you're free to pick up a CX430 V2.

Easy cable management was one of the things my dad asked for when he asked me to build a gaming rig for my brother, but I'm also within a budget and can't afford modular supplies so... including rebates there's no in betweens? Should have picked up the CX 500 then when it was $30 3 days ago ![]()

On the box it was written 1ghz ![]() I think I need something to unlock the msi afterburner voltage control so I can try bumping that up a bit perhaps. Because the fan is at 65% and its stable at under 75 degrees with maximum vcore that im allowed. Heres my 2 little gems ![]() Yes I know everyone in TL will crucify me for overkill PSUs. The one in the PC-K60 is a XFX PRO850w lol. http://i56.tinypic.com/21n4llg http://i56.tinypic.com/300xhxx In terms of an SSD, how long are in terms of longevity are we talking about for a 30gig? There is a 50$ OCZ agility 3 on sale at NCIX...not so sure if it is worth it or not. Personally I would only be putting an OS on it.

I have multiple Caviar Greens and I'm not annoyed by them. You're probably referring to the french article of failure rates where you consider OCZ's 3% to be quite even with the rest at ~2% but I don't. The article also wasn't that in-depth so what is deemed as a failure is unknown. Many, including Intel have suffered firmware problems, the only one that hasn't afaik is Samsung. If you go about the various communities, you'll see basically every single SSD issue is Sandforce related and the majority of people do not recommend Sandforce either. Even OCZ themselves admit that the issues are being worked on... not very reassuring and definitely would not be considered about the same with Marvel, Samsung, or Intel.

30gb *2 = 60gb $50 *2 = $100 Therefore, not a good deal. The Crucial M4 128GB was a good deal at $170, I was debating whether I was going to get one myself but it sold out before I made my decision )=

So the only things I worry about is the longevity of the thing from rewrites and price. I will take my friends analogy: its sort of like jeans. I could get large ass jeans for just a tad more but...yeah. LOL I know im contradicting myself with my PSUs though ![]() Also I heard the crucial M4 were one of the slower SSDs while the new OCZ ones were faster?
