Gigabyte WindForce model should cool significantly better and also quieter. However, it will heat up the inside of the case a lot, whereas the other model mostly exhausts the hot air out the back vent.

With the Gigabyte model, if system temperatures aren't to your liking under heavy load, you may need to add a fan or two to the Define R3.

200 vs 200 (that is, 1v1)? Or 2v2 or more? Also, at what CPU Settings (physics, etc) - low, high, ultra? This all makes a big difference.

So Myrmidon i see the frekvens Mhz is higher on the gigabyte model and it doesnt say how many pipes it has. But would you pick that one instead of the sparkle one?

Just about to push order so im picking the one u think is the best here =) haha

All GTX 570 models are identical in physical specifications such as stream processors. The MHz is different but this can be adjusted yourself with software in Windows. Higher is obviously better though.

The GPU chip itself is always the same, so running the same clock speeds you'll get the same performance.. In terms of hardware, it's the PCB layout, possibly memory chips, voltage regulation modules, video output interfaces, and cooling solution that may be different.

The blower-style fan on the Sparkle model is pretty loud and not as good at cooling as the other one.

On all the intel CPUs, the list the clock speed and then they list a "Turbo Boost"

how do you use the turbo boost and can that be done with the stock heatsink/fan?

It does it automatically, unless you've purposely turned it off in your BIOS. Think of it as auto-overclocking when certain tasks aren't able to properly load the whole processor.

Turbo boost is automatic, it overclocks the processor to a certain speed depending on how many cores are active. If one core is active, it would be turbo boosted to the max speed. For example, that would be 3.7GHz on the 2500k. If all four cores are active than it would only turbo boost to 3.4GHz.

Only P67 and Z68 motherboards can overclock.

Yes you could overclock with the Intel provided stock heatsink but temperatures won't be ideal or it might be too high if your ambient temperature / airflow is terrible.

do i also need to get a 2500k to overclock? will i need to overclock in order to be able to stream in 720p? i probably plan on playing sc2 on med/high at 1080p. this is also with a HD 6850. will I need a better PSU? is the corsair cx430 v2 enough?

You don't need a i5-2500k to overclock, but the non-k processors have an artificial limitation built in and won't overclock past a fairly small amount, forcing you to get the i5-2500k anyway if you want to go a bit further.

With a HD 6850, a CX430 V2 is plenty and a pretty good choice. The setup is going to crush SC2 on medium/high settings.

Actually, I will run SC2 in windowed mode so you can't select a resolution. does that change anything?
