Thank you skyr, just a few questions though. What benefits will the Radeon HD6850 have over the Radeon HD5770? Also, is there any particular decent sized monitor that will support this setup, and possibly be able to be used with my xbox as well? Also, I recently shelfed an old crappy gateway desktop of mine, with which I might be able to salvage a few parts, though im not sure what the specs were atm, and I might still have the windows xp os operating system disks that came with it, so if that desktop is not in use i would be able to use it on a new one?

Yes, you could salvage the DVD-Drive and HDD from your old gateway. Possibly the memory as well if it is DDR3. The HDD might be a little slow so it's up to you whether you will be using it for your boot drive or as a storage drive.
The 6850 is just a faster card so it'll be better for playing games on high settings at 1080p. The 5770 is more of a card for medium settings at that sort of resolution or high settings on a lower resolution. If you want to use the monitor for both your Xbox and computer, you're probably looking for one with HDMI input.
Yes, you could use Windows XP but do you really have the discs? Gateway and other prebuilt computers don't often include the operating system installation discs.

What is the big difference between the H67 and P67? It is worth the trip back to store?
The power supply is like 8$ more so i dont really mind as long as it is a good supply? Is it as good or better than cx500?
|
Yes, it's a good power supply. If money isn't an issue than just keep the current configuration you have. The P67 allows for overclocking while the H67 does not.

Well thanks a lot! Now i just have to decide if i can build it tonight or if i should wait and save like 20$ going back tomorrow. Hard choice, it would be better to go back but like soo hard to wait. Thanks for all the info on the entire build tho, you guys are awesome =)

Once you pricematch everything, yes it's a good configuration.

Enermax NAXN 80+ 600W is actually manufactured by Channel Well Technology, based on the same DSAII design the Corsair CX V2 units use, so it's pretty much a CX600 V2. In fact, the internal components used are sourced from the same manufacturers for both the NAXN 80+ and CX V2, which isn't always the case for units based on the same design. I'm going to chalk this substitution up to coincidence though.
It's good but not great. Performance is very good, but don't expect the components to last like 8 years like you might expect with the top-end units.

Type stuff into an engine like shopbot and see what comes up. DirectCanada, BestDirect, MemoryExpress, CanadaComputers, and Newegg.ca come to mind, but don't bother searching them directly.

aaaaah. thanks for the help.

Just curious, what kind of settings could $300 get me on sc2 not including monitor/os?
|
Low at best. Quite possibly medium if you decide to play on some low resolution.
|
And what kind of fps would we be looking at?
|
Hard to give an estimate but it would be playable.
|
Ok, I don't want any of you to spend too much time, but any great deal this week in term of HD (external or internal)?
What would be the cheapest yet decent mech keyboard? The razer?

Robert
ps : NCIX again ^^

I'm running out of space on my computer, so what's a good hard drive model for the price? Or what should I avoid if all models are the same. I'm biased towards Western Digital simply because I'm using on that hasn't failed yet. NCIX is preferred.
