ULTRALSP650 $54.99

Toshiba 1TB 7200RPM SATA 6GB/Sec $69.99

Windows 7 64MB - $99

Whether you need an i7 or not depends on what you plan on doing. The extra cache will be negligible in gaming and the hyperthreading will provide absolutely zero advantage for the majority (all) games on the market but it will help in the streaming department.
2x4gb 1600MHz memory for $50 is overpriced. iirc Newegg has 2x4gb 2133MHz memory for $40 promo going on until Monday.
Ultra power supplies are not that great and that particular unit is garbage as it's an overrated unit (the 12v rail does not provide 650w). Plus you would not need a 650w unit if you are not doing SLI (the P8Z77-V LX is not capable of it). If you plan on doing SLI then you would need to select a different motherboard and an actual 650w unit. If you are not doing SLI than you can get a Rosewill Capstone 450 for $60 which is significantly better or whatever quality units they have at Tigerdirect.
The P8Z77-V LX is also not that great of a board at $115 after mail in rebate. Both the Asrock Z77 Extreme4 and MSI Z77A-GD55 are better and approximately the same price.
Why not get an SSD on this budget?
HAF XM is newer and better in some regards, similar to the HAF 922 in terms of aesthetics and can be found for approximately the same price.

I just got all my parts for my PC. I'm going to assemble it now. Am re using my current HDD with my OS on it. I should wipe it before installing all the new components right (since the new MOBO will have to be paired with a fresh OS install I believe)? Any last minute tips? I've done this all before, but it's been 5 long years so I'm going through a mental checklist atm. Have an anti static wrist band for my paranoia and the appropriate accessories (cables, HDD trays, thermal paste etc) ready.

Yes, you should do a fresh installation of the operating system when you are changing the motherboard. You can format it during the Windows installation process so there's no need to do it beforehand.

This time I'm going to MAKE SURE my cable management is good. Because this last time it wasn't, my cm 690 case is pretty old and seems so so for cable management and I have no modular PSU. At least there are little plastic holder things for cables to be zip tied to, and a back space for storage, but nothing like a nice full tower.

but it will help in the streaming department.
It really doesnt, encode side unless your goal is 1920x1080@60fps or single-PC streaming a game like guild wars 2 that will attempt to max out a quad core CPU (sc2, LoL etc dont come anywhere close to being a problem) then most of your worry is on how the game performs with screen capture, and HT doesnt help you out at all. Its good to have, but unless you are an advanced user and messing with settings enough to abuse the ~15% headroom with encoding power then you wont even notice it exists, as 3570k already walks all over standard settings

I should have put a budget but i was aiming for between 1200-1300 if i was gonna make the leap, and a SSD really kills that budget. Making the changes you suggested ( the board and PSU were good ideas since i really had no idea about those), Im now at $1420 My other consideration was just to go for just upgrading my GPU (GTX 460 2GB Single card) to the new card since my overclocked i7 950 is still probably more than good for now. I guess I'll think about it, thanks for input.

Can anyone give me a suggestion for a good replacement heatsink? I have an i5-2400 and sometimes it runs a little hot. I think some thermal paste just needs to be reapplied but I thought I might also just replace the stock heatsink anyways. I am just concerned about it being too large and preventing me from using all 4 RAM slots. My mobo is an intel dh67cl if that helps.

How hot is it running? You really dont need to think about temps unless they are going into the 70-80's range
The coolermaster hyper 212 is a pretty good and common buy. I dont think you will have any issues with blocking RAM (you shouldnt) but i cant say 100%

They get to about 70C sometimes when I game, but they got a little hotter during the summer. Also, not sure if it matters but i pretty much can't run Prime95 without my CPU temps shooting up to 100C. :/
EDIT: I just looked actually, and while playing CS:GO they were up to 80C.

Do you want to get a silent one while your at it or does the noise from the stock not bother you?
and yeah 80° definitly too hot

I don't really care about the noise that much, except for when my CPUs start running really hot. That's the only time my fans are making a lot of noise.

What is your budget for the heatsink?
edit: Kinda confused by the 80 degree temps. Way too high. Probably just reseat the heatsink.

So after hours of looking I've realized I lost my copy of win 7..... 100 bucks down the drain , gotta get another I think. At least it allowed me to get rid of tons of junk I never knew I had in my room. Will give updates on progress of the build tomorrow I guess.

for i5-2400 you really don't even want to get a hyper 212, that's too much. Concentrate on something quiet. Something like Arctic Alpine 11 is good enough, quiet, and costs around 5 dollars.

Pirate it then.
.....
What? Don't look at me that way. You already bought it, and as such have legal rights to access a backup copy of it. If you did not buy it then disregard this and buy it.

Money is not really an issue as far as heatsinks go. And by reseat the heatsink, you just mean reapply some thermal paste, right?

hey quick question, how much money does a decent gaming desk top go for? I just want to be able to stream and play music with out lag.

Stream..... video games?
Depends on what you play. But a very common number around here is $700 depending on what your are looking to do and what you need. Also depends on what you can take from an old build and so forth.

So I'm currently building my first computer. I just finally set it up but am a retard and forgot to buy Windows 7/8. Where can I buy a full version of this? I'd rather be able to go to a store and pick it up today rather than waiting a few days for it to be mailed. Ty

Most computer stores will have it. Fry's, etc. Best Buy, Office Depot. Heck, Walmart & Target probably have a copy.
