The psu you chose is overpriced, the Ram is 1.65v which is bad, the hard drive is 5900rpm which is too slow for an OS drive, No reason to not go with a newer gen CPU+Motherboard and your missing a Aftermarket CPU cooler. Get these instead:

Is the HyperX kit 1.65V? You want 1.5V RAM.
You sure you want the last-generation i5-2500k and 6 series motherboard? You really need a -V Pro motherboard from Asus?
TX V2 650W is very good, but compared to what everybody else sells, it's maybe the worst thing Corsair has on the market. For example, XFX Core 650W uses the same electronic design (same quality), is quieter, actually has 4 PCIe power connectors instead of 2, and is usually cheaper. You don't even need 650W for 2x GTX 670s and i5-2500k.

Hi, I'm thinking about getting a blu-ray burner for my computer, but I'm kind of a noob when it comes to computers >.< so I have a few questions.
With the burner, can I still watch the blu-rays on the computer? Like it's not used for ONLY burning blu-rays. And will I be able to put regular DVDs in it and watch them?
Tyvm ^^

Agility 3 is based on the second generation Sandforce controller (which has a bad reputation early on in its life cycle for instability but that's been fixed with a firmware). Crucial M4 is based on Marvell and is a popular choice since it's inexpensive and reliable. The majority of everyone you ask will say get the M4.

Yes, a BD burner will be able to read and write BDs and DVDs.

Thanks a lot, but can the 450W PSU handle overclocking the i5?
And also can that motherboard overclock?
I was planning to SLI in the future, don't i need 650W and a better motherboard for that?
Again, thanks for the reply!
Edit: The reason that i went for the older motherboard and processor, was that it was a package deal on komplett and it saved me some money.

All Z77 boards can overclock.
Yes the XFX Core Edition 450 can handle an overclocked 3570k and a single GPU configuration. You'll need a bigger one if you want to do SLI. And yes you'll need another motherboard for SLI.

Looking into getting a new laptop since my old laptop was stolen a few months ago. I already have a powerful enough desktop, I would be using this for work, playing SC2 on (low-medium is fine), and for bringing to barcrafts to stream off of. We typically have the laptop connected to a 1280x720 HD projector (22' or so if that matters) running an HD IPL/MLG/GSL stream. Going to be connecting speakers to it via a 3.5mm audio jack specifically and connecting to the HD projector with HDMI.
Hoping to spend as little as possible without trading for quality too much. Can anyone make some recommendations? I can go over budget if need be, but I'd like to spend <$600 CAD. Needs to be capable of being used for the above tasks primarily.

A friend just suggested another company called MemoryExpress. They apparently price match AND give you an additional discount for 25% of the difference.
For example, my order would now look like this. Edit: Website PriceMatch Link http://www.memoryexpress.com/Policies/PriceProtection.cm.aspx
i5 3550 - NCIX($199.99), Price matched to MemoryExpress($224.99) for a new total of $193.74 RadeonHD7850 - DirectCanada($243) to MemoryExpress($259.99) for a new total of $238.75
You get the idea, nothing absolutely amazing, but you can easily save a a good $5-10 per item, so if you're building a whole new system it can add up. Just thought I'd throw the website out there for other Canadians.

Nah I called the edmonton store, and they said they can price match everything.
The only issue they mentioned is for example, newegg is having a sale, and its $50 off. They won't sell you 100 items for the $50 off price. I used my items as an example and they said thats perfectly fine.
I'll let you guys know how it goes

Check how much they tax in your province and also shipping too.
|
Alberta still has 5% GST. All Canadian retailers are required to charge you GST so that's sort of irrelevant?
|
I was under the impression that you would have to pay prov. sales taxes on top of gst if the retailer is based in your province of residence/shipping. Im not sure where memory express or he lives.

My friend is looking to build a computer for gaming/streaming. He's aiming for longevity and flexibility first, and his budget is up to $2000 or so. His primary concern is that he not have to build anything again for a while, and that what he builds now is able to handle gaming and streaming effectively. I pulled a lot of the recommendations from this thread already, I just want to check in to see if maybe we chose the wrong 670 or some such.
