@Tryxtira
Yes, the 7950 is significantly better than a 570. But I was recommending the 670, which is generally regarded as a little better than the 7950. The 7000 series GPUs are perfectly fine though, and generally not too far off a decent price point. On a possibly related subject, it looks like none of those links work (I was using google translate, so I'm not sure if part got cut off or didn't copy over well or something). Sorry. Hopefully you can just search komplett.se for the part names.
There's not a big difference between z77 & z68. Usually they're about the same price though, and the lower end z77 boards have onboard usb 3.0 headers while the lower end z68 boards usually do not (the gigabyte you were looking at does). Then again, I haven't looked at z68 prices in awhile, maybe there are some good discounts. Also, z68 boards required bios updates to handle ivy bridge (i5 or i7-3xxx series), whereas the z77 is the newer platform. But by this time they should have the new bios pre-installed already.
The graphics card should do fine - even boards with x8/x8 configuration actually mean x16 (second slot empty) or x8/x8, if I recall correctly. And in any case all PCI-e graphics cards should be compatible with any x16 or x8 slot.
Speaking of graphics card slots, that's the big difference between the motherboard I recommended & the one you were looking at. The gigabyte can install 2 video cards easily, where as the MSI z77-g43 can only easily handle one video card. Though the MSI z77-g45 is setup for 2 video cards if you wanted to prepare yourself for that in the future (something I generally don't recommend unless you're planning on multiple-monitor gaming). Other than the number of video cards involved, both ought to work fine, but the MSI board I originally recommended is cheaper.
If you were thinking of Crossfire/SLI in the future, you'd also want to pay more for a 650w or 750w power supply.

seagate and wd are working together at keeping the prices as high as possible, the Thailand flooding has not been relevant in months and we still see the same prices. Im just saying its better to wait, reuse your other hard drives or use an SSD meanwhile. I don't like the idea of giving money to corporations that advocate foul play...

Oh that. Yeah. Thing is, sometimes when people have you over a barrel... they have you over a barrel. Not the worst mugging that'll happen this year (don't get me started on politics).

Hey guys, thinking of building my first cpu, i have about a $700 purse and here's what i've come up with. I just wanted your advice to see if this would all work together. My dad will help me build the computer and has a computer science degree so that part won't be a problem, he just won't help me look :[
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.954367 this is an Intel Core i5-2450P Sandy Bridge 3.2GHz (3.5GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80623i52450P.
I like it because I have multiple video cards so the 2x pci expressx16 is pretty neat
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104262 This is kingston x 2x4gb of ram, I believe the pins match up to the motherboard.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148591 500gb harddrive with 7200rpm, I don't know if this is compatible with the motherboard or how to check so some help?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147153 This is a cheap nice looking case, I don't really know the benefit of getting a nicer case.
I have my own 650w power system, OS and several Video cards, so aside from that is this a good build and am I missing anything? My main concern is playing SC2 at high or extra high settings and being able to dual monitor. Thanks for the help guys!

Edit: already bought what I wanted.

The case is fine.
The RAM is fine. But you can save $10 by getting this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231422 They'll performt he same.
For the HDD, you can get this for cheaper right now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185
For the price of that CPU/Motherboard combo, you might as well get an i5 3570k.
Provided your Video Card is an HD 5770 / GTS 450 or better, it will play SC2 on the highest settings.
|
Thanks for your suggestions on the ram and hdd, but I'm curious, wouldn't the i5 3570k plus a motherboard be more expensive then the combo? What would be the benefit exactly?

Whats a good PSU for an i5 2500 + gtx 670 based system? I'd like something reliable that protects against voltage fluctuations since those are somewhat common in my country.
|
It'd be easier to see a price list or website that shows what models are available rather than list all the potential good power supplies.
|
Get a UPS if you're worried about power issues...
|
Just curious on how accurate coretemp is compared to speed fan. Coretemp is giving me temperatures of around 70 max on a new computer with stock heatsink while speedfan is showing temperatures around 40-50. Which is the accurate one ? o.o
|
Speedfan generally isn't accurate.

Shitty case and psu it would seem
you would be better off with a Antec, Crosair , OCZ ZS/ZT
for the case, Bitfenix and Xigmatek make good cheap ones
also mobo seems a bit expensive, but that is maybe because i don't know the rates, but it's good
|
XFX and Seasonic make quality PSUs as well,
|
not at low prices (well xfx relativly low)
|
Hm, I have no idea who makes those Powerex and other local brand PSUs...in these situations, without good research you could pass up good deals on high quality products. A lot of times they're just selling trash and ripping people off though.
I can at least guarantee this is very good, at like 33% more cost though (Super Flower Golden Green Pro; yes wattage is more than enough): http://blog.danawa.com/prod/?section_m=PC&prod_c=1500418&cate_c1=861&cate_c2=880&cate_c3=997&cate_c4=0
I didn't check all the prices on the other parts, but they generally make sense. The motherboard is a little expensive and the case looks a bit cheap and flimsy maybe.
You may be waiting for a while on a GTX 660.

What is your budget? 2,000 dls or more if needed
What is your resolution? 1920 x 1080. And is the same for sc2
What are you using it for? Mostly gaming and maybe for streaming later.
What is your upgrade cycle?
2+ years (depending if i have to upgrade something that is necesary)
When do you plan on building it? Im going to newyork in August 15th (im from mexico)
Do you plan on overclocking? i have a little idea of what it is, but i have no experience on it, and i dont know if i will need it.
Do you need an Operating System? No
Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or Crossfire? I have no idea if i will need that for some games in the future, if theres a GPU that is really good i think i dont. But if you think this is necesary to buy, i can buy it, how much can be the difference in price?
Where are you buying your parts from? That is a good question, mexico is expensive and they dont have the latest parts that i could need. I was thinking to buy it in www.newegg.com (the reason is because my sister lives in connecticut and they can order that stuff from that page) but if there is a store "connecticut or newyork" i will apreciate if someone tell me the name of the store and address, so when i get there i can buy it.
Here is what im planning to buy: (I dont know about computers, just basic basic stuff)
CPU
1.- Core i7 3960X LGA 2011 (I think is the most powerful processor) and i will be fine with that one for years, am i right?) Suggestions are welcome.
Motherboard
1.- I just have no idea wichone o should buy, I have seen a lot of them, and dont understand what each one does. (I just want the one that support the procesor, and have a lot ports for usb) (If there is and expensive one and is really necesary to buy for the future i can buy it)
I just dont want to have problems with my new comp. i really want a high quality in games (starcraft 2 and maybe in the future for some games that requires more "ram or more power on gpu")
RAM
1.- I have no idea wichone i should buy (The one that gives the best performance for my comp)
GPU
1. I just noticed theres the new geforce GTX 690, ill get that one
PSU
1.- I think this one is important (but the question is wichone is good for my new comp?) i dont know if the one that i have already still fine
Cooling stuffs (for gpu, processor and dont know what else) i dont know about it, but if i need one tell me wichone is good to get.
Note: If i missed something importante you can tell me, like i said, i dont know about computers, just basic stuff. Any recomendation are welcome
Thanks for your help
