No, don't bother. Shitty AMD system with a fairly average GPU.
Edit:
I should clarify. A prebuilt system is worth it if you are getting something out of it whether it be proper aftermarket sound proofing (Puget), design/engineering (Apple), or post-sales support (OEM business-grade machines). If it doesn't offer that, nearly 95% of the time you will get more by buying the desktop parts and building it yourself.
For a little less than $700, I think I could build a pretty neat i5-2400 + HD6770 machine which should outperform what he has. You've got less hard disk space but you've got actual warranty and a free game.

I'm trying to stay as close to $700 as I can, my upgrade timeframe is not in the near future. The only thing I will be doing that consumes resources is Starcraft. I don't have enough time to play Starcraft so probably won't be picking up other games. (Occasional 4v4s so it needs to be able to handle that.) 3 Questions: What would be an appropriate GPU (I''m still totally lost) for what I am doing and the components I have selected already? Which other items are missing or need to be changed and why? Will 420w handle this? It just seems once you get above that you've gotta spend way more but similar factory systems seem to have less... Kind of embarassed that there are people on here asking for help that are literally half my age and have 4x my budget You can increase your GPU budget quite a bit by not getting the Z68 board you aren't using any of the features of, ditch the aftermarket CPU cooler, and buy cheaper memory. Ditch the Apevia case/PSU combo, they make NO good PSUs, and I'm assuming that's why you were going to get the case. I think I've swapped more dead Apevia PSUs than every other brand put together for friends. Get a 430-500w Antec, Corsair, or Seasonic unit. Decent quality, usually decent prices. Also, unless you plan to stream, you can step down to an i3 2100, since SC2 only uses two cores really, to save money. Just build on an H61 mobo. And if I tap the windows key by accident, GG, I'm out for about 2 minutes
You can disable the windows key in the options menu in the meantime.

Whole build is shit. He probably doesnt want to be seen using it. Entire computer needs a new everything, doesnt even mention a PSU so thats probably shit as well. The only thing i see on that computer is 2 sticks of RAM, an OS, and a hard drive that i wouldnt count on.
I would offer maybe $130. And that's high for me.

Craigslist Desktop Ad I'm wondering how it originally cost him $1500 for that PoS. Even if it was a prebuilt, that's some serious, serious markup they have going on for those budget bin components.

Craigslist works in mysterious ways.

Ok here is where things get problematic.
You have a huge budget in tough economic times. Your needs require not even $600 but your willing to drop over 4 times that. So its a bigger question of what you really want versus how much you like keeping your money.
If you were serious about spending that kinda big bucks, its advised you spend a lot of the money on a nice desk. An excellent chair. Good Peripherals and the like. But definitely not all of the money on the build.

Well you need to provide us information first if you want a recommendation... is your 27" monitor 2560x1400, a 120Hz 1080p, or just regular shitty 1080p?
Are you going to need an operating system?
Are you going to overclock?
Newegg also sucks.

I'm looking for a new Mobo/CPU for my machine. I would like to start streaming, and do plan to overclock. Only using 1920x1080, 60 Hz. I may, in the future, go SLI / Crossfire for Eyefinity. Currently I have a GTX570, Corsair GS600 PSU, and Coolermaster Hyper 212 cooling unit, and a crappy Dell StudioXPS9000 case.
I believe the i5 2500k would be fine, but I don't know much about motherboards. Any out there that will get me through a few years? Finally, any good deals out there? I hear Newegg sucks (as skyR recently informed us) and that's where I've done my most recent shopping. Not too concerned about the price, but lower is obviously better (not a huge fan of rebates but I'll give it a try.) Located in Northeast USA.
Thanks in advance.

Newegg sucks in Canada, specifically. They're not terrible in the USA, and beat most of the other big retailers. You can also check MC or NCIXUS. Fry's should be left for convenience buys usually, if you have one local enough to drive to.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. I'm sure I'll be back when I decide to get a new case =P

whats the difference between a 1333 ram and a 2133 ram?
|
It's significantly more expensive and only marginally better. Spend your money elsewhere first before memory.

800Mhz.
Or, in performance for most tasks? Very fucking little. Certain things, like encoding and compression, will get reasonable but minor gains from faster memory, gaming, not very noticeable even on CPU intense games like SC2.
Like skyR says, meh.
Plus, it usually just means it actually got tested at those speeds. You can frequently run 1333 Cas9 rated memory at 1600 Cas7 or 8 with minor voltage tweaks, for a lot less money. Given the slim improvements, it's usually better to just buy a low voltage rated cas9 1333 kit and clock it up.

There's where I tested SC2 performance with RAM speeds. You'll notice that most of the performance differences from RAM are so small as to be well within a reasonable margin of error for not running a clean benching partition?

I need to buy a Powerline kit. Is there any big difference between models? I'm looking at local NCIX stores, and probably buying tomorrow.
I'm not sure if I need 500MB/s. I think my bandwidth is 25 Mb/s (though I'll never get that haha).
EDIT:
I can buy and return if they don't work also. Looking at these three cause they're high on the list and there's a bunch more reviews.
