I've owned two somewhat top-end gaming headsets, the Sennheiser PC350, and the Astro A40. I can honestly say that the audio, in terms of music, movie and microphone quality of the PC350 blow the Astros away. I've had mine for almost 3 years now, and they still work wonderfully, whereas the Astros quit on me 6 months into usage. I'm no real audiophile, but as a bit of an audio enthusiast, I would encourage you to spend the extra money(if possible) on the PC350s, for years of satisfaction. And for anyone that made the mistake of buying the Astros...(although I had to buy it partially for Xbox usage) throw away the actual headset and hookup the Sennheisers to the mixamp that you probably bought with it.

Astro A40 are just for console user with no brain power to waste some money. Gaming headsets are just a waste of money, the quality of sound is very poor.

So I was gonna buy either the Razer Carcharias, Steelseries Siberia v2, Corsair HS1 USB Gaming Headset or the Creative Headset HS-980 Fatal1ty MKII... Im really split about what to get, basically I want what you always want. Comfort, sound quality, quality on the fabric and that stuff. Anyone who can give me a advice what to get??

Carcharias are extremely comfortable. I can wear them for 3 hours+ and get no discomfort or warmth on my ears.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good headset that is under $70? As much as I would like to get a Steelseries Siberia or Senn HD555, they are a little out of my price range.

The most important factor for me would be that it has to have a very good noise canceling mic. I have this really, really loud heater that comes on randomly and and everyone says it's pretty noticeable/annoying. So I need a good headset that could dampen that out as much as possible without me needing to yell into it to get heard. Oh, it also has to have a USB connection because for someone reason the mic jacks on my Vista laptop don't work well with the 3.5 mm connectors (a common problem I've read).

G35 is closer to his price range but def not under 70
I think what's in his range is
plantronics gamecon 777, Thermaltake eSports Shock, then on the cheaper end logitech G330
I think all of them i've listed are not fully usb but rather come with a usb dac that you can use if need be.

I'm looking to get a new headset and I was wondering what is good to get. My budget is about 250 dollars, maybe 300 if there is something super amazing that I'm missing out.

At the moment I have a Razer Deathadder and a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate as my gaming gear, and I LOVE them. People might say Razer products are all crap and everything, but omg. The Razer Deathadder is the perfect mouse, I can't imagine a better mouse than it, even if it cost thousands of dollars. The Blackwidow also feels like a really solid keyboard.

So with that said, and as a huge Razer fan, since I am so pleased with their products, I am really thinking of getting the Razer Megalodons, however I haven't seen much talk about them in this thread. So if anyone has them, are they good? I hear saw lots of talk about the PC350 which look beautiful too.

I am looking for a cool design that has superb sound quality. Doesn't need to have the best mic as I don't talk too much, so if anyone can help out a fellow TLer, all help is appreciated!

My 2 cents:

I just bought new headphones... I had Sennheiser PC150 for about 6 years and my brother also has some wireless headphones from Sennheiser (also 6 years) so I was familiar with the quality of their products. Since I wanted good quality headphones with a microphone I ordered PC 330 G4ME. It cost me about 130€.

I used them for a couple of days now and they are great. The microphone is also good and it switches off when you place it into an upright position. What I really like is the volume control as it is integrated into the right side of the headphones. No more searching for the volume control for me

I just quoted myself since I already posted this on another thread.

This is what I use. Great sound quality - I'm a huge music listener, and I think these sound fantastic. Great mic quality. I've never had any reason to upgrade to something more "fancy". Seriously, the only things this headset lacks is 3D surround and padded ear speakers. If those aren't of the highest priorities to you, save the extra $150 and buy a better video card. FAR more useful than some overpriced "gaming" headset. Cost me about $18 at Wal-Mart. If you're looking for something more comfortable, there seems to be a padded version for about $20 more.
Quit quoting others and think of something to say for yourself.
