The standard hydra and ling deaths look great and are absolutely distinguishable. The carrier, marine, and zerg-fire death animations seem a bit too long. | ||

If you compare the current Marine death animation to let's say a footman or a grunt in WC3 and with the original Marine animation (a splat of blood with the head flying in the air), it looks more like in WC3. It's a fact. | ||

Different death animations are much better than if everything just exploded, wich is boring IMO Also I had no trouble distinguishing the dying ones form the others The best for me is the 3 different animations for the Roach Wich is valid is, like some people here said, the animations must be quicker, especially the Carrier death (cool but took too long to explode) and the burning zergs (cool also, same problem) PS: Its the first time we saw the revamped lurker unburrowned right? Pretty cool the spider aspect. Edit: marine graying when being killed is terrible, must be erased | ||

BW doesn't have a single slow death animation, everything explodes/vanishes very noticeably in around a second, while WC3 has a lot of slower death animations with units falling slowly or whatever. There's a very clear distinction; I've been playing WC3 for almost as long as I've been playing BW, and I still realise units have died maybe half a second faster in BW. Obviously if I was a godly WC3 player I would get used to reacting to the less noticeable(read: boring) death animations and it's a minor factor because you can anticipate when units will die fairly easily anyway, but it's still there and it's not a good thing. | ||

I just have this feeling it makes the fights look soft and slow like in war3 instead of sudden and swift. I suppose this could be mitigated somewhat if the sounds of death are sudden and strong enough to lend finality to the occasion. Although to be fair, these animations are at medium speed, so maybe I'm blowing it out of proportion. I hope so. | ||
