ESL Open #220: GuMiho, Clem, MaxPax win

TL.net ESPORTS 4 Posts March 26 2024 17:58 GMT #1 2022-23 ESL Pro Tour - Open Cups: Week #220 (March 25th) by Wax Week #220 of the Open Cups was the first to be played under revised seeding rules, which introduce a small degree of randomization into the bracket. While this should allow for more diversity of match-ups going forward, the final list of winners in Week #220 was largely familiar. The only surprise came on the Korean server, where GuMiho won his first cup in over two months (week #211). GuMiho benefited from a slightly easier bracket with many of the top contenders starting in the opposite half, but ultimately earned his victory with a 3-2 against Dark in the finals. Another notable performance in the cup came from Stats, who defeated both ByuN (2-1) and herO (2-0) before bowing out to Dark in the semifinals (1-2). The European server cup saw Reynor vs Clem clash in the finals for the third week in a row, resulting in Clem winning in a 3-0 sweep. The TL ace almost went perfect on the week, with teammate SKillous being the only player to force him to concede a map. GuMiho went for the weekly double in the American server cup, and came close to attaining his goal by reaching the finals. However, the ultimate victory would go to MaxPax, who went through herO (2-1), ByuN (2-0), and GuMiho (3-1) to win the final competition of the week.
