Not sure why Take is not up to speed about Corona. Omikron is in Germany, with massive infections expected in January.
Currently numbers are declining but that is mostly because of reporting issues on top of maxed testing capacity. We don't have enough vaccine to booster everyone, and about 16% of eligible people without any vaccination.
On top of that, Omikron is much more infectious. Christmas travel brings this virus mutation into every part of Germany. While we are still not having Delta under control.

Omicron is more infectious, but isn't it also less dangerous? Germany is up to almost 70% full vaccination rate.

Homestory Cup has been moved to 3rd to the 6th of March

great, hopefully they can make it happen

Probably a good choice to delay it... glad that it's possible and that they do it!
Kinda off topic:

We know that the 2nd vaccine loses protection after a while (we knew that from Israel a long time ago). So given how late Germany started with booster vaccines, I'd say somewhere between 33% (current booster) and 71% of Germans could be considered "fully" vaccinated, it's tough to say and depends on what you think is when the 2nd vaccine loses good protection from getting sick (I'd say it's somewhere between 3-6 months). From what I know it'll still protect from getting severely ill and getting hospitalized pretty well even then though. And with Omicron getting infected is even easier so having the best possible protection is important - even if it's less dangerous (we will see about how dangerous it really is in the future).

This actually make me worry more for IEM being offline, because in some sense this HSC was supposed to be the "dry run" for IEM 3 weeks later. Not to say its impossible now, but I think the chance just get smaller for offline global event.

I really appreciate Take doing the responsible thing and calling this off. I'm guessing that by January 27, regulations would have made it impossible to put the event on in any case, and this gives people enough time to adjust their plans.
I have a hard time believing that the situation is going to be improved enough by March. After so many Covid waves, I'm starting to lose hope. But if we really do turn the corner by spring, I'm looking forward to heading down to Kassel to watch in person.

Yeah. I think the possibility of stand alone offline events is off for a while. Probably the only achievable thing would be to ask players to spend 2 months in a single country and set up multiple events - but that doesn't work with the way sc2 is as a competition. PUBG just had a really successful offline 3-week championship event in Korea (with 2 week quarantine) but it was a set 32 teams for the whole thing and, of course, PUBG still has money to support that sort of logistical cost.

NarutO just said no HSC in March, it's getting postponed once more.

At this rate, they might just push it all the way to June/July to match the ESL schedule.

Maybe time to change the title of the thread. It can be very deceiving for anyone not looking any deeper.

So July 21-24th is HSC21 and Dec 15-18th is HSC22?
I guess there will be no Stay@HSC Cup in the meantime?

if i said something like this i would likely be banned. so many people claim to be accepting of other's beliefs yet i read this literal SHIT and it makes me not want to come to a real life starcraft tournament again even though they have been some of my best memories.
if i go to a tournament i can assure you i will not be vaxxed

Sometimes people should think before posting.

I think this thread should be closed. Super old and every time it gets bumped I forget about it and think HSC XXI is getting postponed now
