Another month has passed and four more tournaments have been played. Some new faces appeared to try their luck but at the end, the more experienced players showed why they are still at the top of the pyramid.

Participation

Overall, Sentimiento Latino (SL) had a good number of players showing up and little by little, more are joining. Chile is the country with more players participating. This is probably the result of not only SL but because of LNS, a local tournament that is kind of big for the scene. Brazil is starting to show signs of life but if we take in consideration the size of their scene, their participation should be bigger. Another country that is lacking participation is Peru, maybe their community is not as big as I thought but still some players show up from time to time.

Finally, we had a player from Uruguay. StEArKill played the ro16 in the seventh edition of SL.

New and old blood

These four weeks have been a battle between the old and new guard of Latin America. The Mexican JimRising showed that he is still a formidable player and claimed the first place two of the three times he played. The other old guard player that also took one gold was Chilean player Halfbreed (aka KiLLeR). It is no longer a surprise to see him playing every Friday and many fans, including me, are happy. Although three of the four weeklys were won by the more experienced players, their rivals at each final series belong to the new generations of players. These new group of players are starting to be recognized not only in the region but also in North America. Watching Jarppi take games from really good NA players in community tournaments is becoming more and more normal. eGGz had been a lot quieter than his Chilean colleague but his success in the region can’t be denied and his results doesn’t seem to stop any time soon.

Others are climbing that ladder too like Ryu or EGG. The first one, Ryu, is writing his own story representing Italy in Nation Wars 5. His results in SL are good but still lacking in the grand scheme of things; with more training, I believe he could become a player that defies the reign of SpeCial and Kelazhur in Copa America. For Ryu, a top 8 is not enough anymore. The Argentinian EGG isn’t a new player in the scene but his recent comeback, desire and passion for the game has to be acknowledged. He plays almost every tournament and is becoming a player to keep an eye on.

The best player

This month’s recognition have to go to JimRising. The zerg player started to dominate again this series of tournaments and he easily go through his part of the bracket most of the times. Although he is the rival to defeat here, JimRising can’t sleep in his glory. Several players are starting to catch up but for the time being he is still the final boss of SL.

Conclussion

Beside one qualifier with few players, almost all the tournaments are having at least a full round of 16. New faces are starting to show up and the player base is growing. After two months worth of tournaments, the future looks bright for the Latin American scene.
Finally, is time for the community to do his part and support SL with more viewers every friday.
