When do we get to stop referring to every non-Korean as "foreigner"?

That practice is almost as stupid as the baby-talk English people use to speak to Koreans.

The "baby talk" is because in most cases they won't understand your whole sentence if you spoke to them as if it was their native tongue. Imagine if you knew Korean but do not speak it often, if a korean person spoke to you as if you were fluent, you would be totally lost except for a few words here and there.

So true.

Scarlett is really overshadowing the Serral hype train right now, no one even talks about Leipzig anymore.

being the first foreigner in a gsl ro8 is 5-6 years helps

being the first finn to win a premier tournament in over 7 years tho

Beating Koreans is just more impressive than beating foreigners

I find that hard to believe when Scarlett can make ro8 GSL, but not ro16 WCS.

But I guess whatever you wanna believe to keep the Finns down.

And Neeb won 3 WCS seasons last year but couldn't even qualify for GSL

But he didn't really care about GSL, and we all know how the gap has closed drastically recently.

you can use the same argument about Scarlett "not caring" about WCS honestly

Cared enough to actually win enough in the qualifiers to make it to the actual tournament unlike neeb. Checkmate.

So in the end of this totally serious conversation I think we can now all agree that "a finn winning a premier tournament after +7 years" > "a foreigner making it to the ro8 of gsl after 5-6 years"
why even

I'd like to think that the reason people find Scarlett making Ro8 more impressive than Serral's Leipzig win is due to relative population (the number of Finnish and Finnophile Starcraft fans is necessarily a fraction of the entire community) and the fact that Korea has long been the bastion of Starcraft talent rather than insidious and pervasive racism towards Finnish individuals.
Now witness their attempts to fly from tree to tree. Notice they do not so much fly as plummet.

Just so we're on the same page:

Beating Stephano, Namshar, MaSa, Nerchio, SpeCial, ShoWTimE, and eGGz warrants more credit than...
Beating Cham, TIME, Serral, Elazer, sOs, Billowy, Rogue, Zest, and INnoVation

Nice article. I think we need to ask the question of "why have foreign zergs always been at the top?". My theory is exactly the following. Foreign terrans/protoss aren't saving builds/playstyles for an important series. They are wasting them on ladder or smaller tournaments. Zergs thrive on playing reactively or tossing in an early game all-in when they know the opponent is playing a certain way. If zergs know what the T/P builds/playstyles are and how they transition, it's extremely easy to adapt. Even if both players play perfectly, the zerg will win simply because they've already been exposed to the build/playstyle and have adapted. Zerg will always have that advantage because of how their macro mechanics work and how easy it is to tech switch.

Terran & tosses need to switch it up more and not reveal everything before large tournaments.

interesting perspective and you might be on to something here.
