Departure of Revolution.HerO from Team Revolution
Today we announce the departure of one our most popular players on our rosters; HerO. 01/06/2017
When we first signed HerO back in October of last year, the WCS eligibility for Koreans had not been released for 2017/2018, we signed him with the intention of him playing in international tournaments such as the WCS DreamHacks and IEM of this year. However when the rules/format were released, our focused had changed to making HerO’s experience in Korea as great as possible.
Unfortunately during the first two seasons of GSL this year, HerO was unable qualify, narrowly getting knocked out in the qualifiers against Billowy then Scarlett and Cloudy in Season 2. However while we had a shaky start with GSL, HerO’s stream was doing really well and was really entertaining, we decided to focus on improving the stream by adding sleek video overlays and subscriber sounds, which was really successful for him and us. HerO also really brought his A-game when it came to the Wardi-Team League and Dust Team League, destroying a lot of formidable opponents.
In the end, we decided that we want to move our attention towards potentially having a team house in the future, which would potentially be in Seoul, which HerO wasn’t particularly interested in, especially since he lives in Busan. Overall we have enjoyed the time he has been on our time and have no doubt that he will be successful in whoever he chooses to join next.
We wish you the best of luck!

Well, I hope HerO can still do sc2 if he wants to and finds another team.
Interesting plans for Revolution, let's see where it goes.
|
Interesting to hear that Revolution has plans for a teamhouse, Seed, Pet, Jjakji and Poohsik seem pretty close,

|
The reasons are quite explicite, and that's nice to read. Best of luck to both parties in the future.
Any news from HerO's side on his plans with SC2?
|
he should rejoin teamliquid lol, his career has only been going downhill ever since he left
|
Aww, hope he can find a new team or carry on without one.

it's reference to tea not players

Hero has been given such great chances for his frankly poor performance throughout the years, being on TL and doing litterally nothing untill they finally let him go, then being recruited by a team that many (and far, far better) koreans would dream to be on, and when it comes to making a small sacrifice (moving into a team house) he refuses to do so.
Honestly, he won't be missed by me.

Clearly winning two dreamhacks, IEM, NASL, A WCS America season and a consistent Code S player was nothing while he was on TL. Moving into a team house is not a small sacrifice living with other people isn't easy and he would be moving over 300km away from where he lives.

oh, please. you're going back years now.
first of all, those victorys were back when he was a great player. I remember his warp prism harras as his strong point, his flamboyant style picked people apart, it was amazing to watch. this was back in 2012, 5 years ago.
In 2011, he won one premier tourny against puma and got 2nd place in another, losing to puma who introduced the 1 1 1.
in 2012, he won two premier tournaments, the highlight of his career, as well as getting third place in another.
now, let's take a look at 2013 and beyond.
He won one premier tourney in 2013, and one in 2014, totalling 30 grand. this was 3 years ago. after that though, is when he dropped off completely, he essentially dissapeared, didn't stream, basically didn't exist. he didn't win anything and never did well in GSL, so no, he wasn't a consistent GSL player. this was back in 2014, 3 years ago.
Apparantally when you do pretty much nothing for three years you're still considered a "consistent gsl player" which by the way, he had to be, otherwise he wouldn't collect cheques from the very gracious and generous team liquid, bless their souls.
I respect your admiration for him as a player, and before anyone gets this wrong, i DO respect him for his past accomplishments, but times have changed, what I said in my earlier comment has merit. he was given too much based on his past fame. I'm not going to bother comparing his accomplishments to other high level teamless koreans right now because it would just make me sad.
|
So why can't you respect someone after their past performances? You just like being an ass because you sound cool saying "haha well I'm smart knowing this player is garbage now so he doesn't deserve anything aren't I cool for stating my opinion as fact so bluntly?"
Like what did he do to deserve being shit talked other than have a declining performance after summer 2015? (where he still got a 2nd place in DH Summer vs TaeJa, which isn't exactly "dropping off completely")

I don't know why HerO should leave Busan to live in a team house. His best years are past him, why should he sacrifice his social life he has now? It's not like the team can't offer the position that HerO vacated to someone else.
Also being shit now doesn't mean I lose respect for what player he once was. Same way I still venerate someone like Nada or Nestea. Hell, it is worthy of respect to keep going for so long despite lack of results.

I'm sorry if i'm derailing, please ask me to delete this comment if you feel i'm doing so, but he didn't really "keep going" he was being payed to sit around until quite recently, because his last reasonable performance was in summer 2014, 3 years ago, by the wonderfuly generous team liquid, and then was immediately snatched up by another team while other koreans who performed better starved.
I don't think doing literally nothing for three years but collecting paychecks counts as someone who keeps going. I respect his past performances too, but I find it insulting that he would take a position many koreans would do horrible things for, and spit on it by refusing to move into a team house or progress his career at all.
again, i apologize for derailing. i'll stop now, i've made my point.
