Hostbusters was the most satisfying; final 45 seconds before 24 minutes, 2 pre-softened life Void Crystals remaining with full shields, bum rushed the one closest to main base with 7 carriers, 40 probes, and 12 zealots to throw off the shard using its instant death ray beam, Arbiter waiting at edge of final Shard on other side of map, had the guardian shield passive so i see a bunch of invincible probes working away at Shard.... at 20 hp i bunch up my now 4 repaidly dying remaining carriers, recall to arbiter, charge in on final shard, solar bombardment cooldown flashes at 23:45, fucking thing goes down at 23:55 on probably 90th attempt. Had a lot of fun trying to figure out some of these, kudos to Blizzard to designing achievements on the edge of possibility.

Having failed like 3 times to do it the right way I found a shortcut. + Show Spoiler + Rush straight to DT build nothing else clear the first prism/cannon with brute force then move up to the left most pylon powered doorway if you hug the gateway in the middle you can see on the other side then use the 3 beam attack (forget its name second ability 3rd tier) to hit the pylon, then just dodge the next cannon save up for the ability again (you should have 4-6 dts) then run up the ramp past all the prism places to the top left corner disable the cannons with the ability then wait for the cd and get the last 2 and win. Thanks a lot for this, I finally beat this stage on brutal!!

I've tried a few things like walling alarak off with nexus and it works, but it's a pretty big commitment and it's still not enough unless you fine-tune the other defenses including what your army comprises of for that final wave. with the carrier strat though, you can pair it up with a bunch of arbiters, one on each side to start with, then once you have enough carriers you can split them up for each side as per normal. this way they retain a lot of units, you start stockpiling minerals since you're maxed out and you're not losing anything yourself. by the time the last wave hits you'll have close to 3k to spend on random buildings like walling off those highground ramps to the xelnaga device, cannons, so on and so-forth. if you're having trouble in the last wave, once they start to break through, just group everything together and use stasis on the ramps to buy yourself some valuable time. if you like being active, try splitting up some corsairs for d-web at the large ramps, and then all you have to worry about is the golden armada in the later waves.

I think corsairs are really underrated for doing the mission. A couple of corsairs sucks, but if you have 2 groups of 5-10, they can very reliably keep anything on the ground alive. Just make sure you always a-move them so they don't all cast disruption web at once. They smart cast it, but if you move and then a-move, they all acquire a target at the same time and all fire, wasting the cooldown. Combine it with some of the OP red immortals(seriously, they 2 shot hybrid and 1 shot most other units) on the ground for cleanup, and just use excess money on cannons/simcity around the keystone. For air defense I mostly relied on a roving band of about 20 corsairs and cooldowns. Once the last wave comes (there is no way to defend against that many units that I know of), simcity the shit out of the middle and run all surviving arbiters to just stasis stuff. Keeping alarak alive is absolutely pointless. While his damage and abilities are absolutely nuts in the hands of a microable unit(eg dash>Q>retreat), in the hands of AI which frequently Q's into charge into death, short of walling him off he's dead. Also putting 1-2 arbiters on each side can help tremendously in keeping stuff alive.
