Finally finished them all today. Really pleased with how much more challenging LOTV's were over previous games.

Got a couple of funny screenshots, probably should of taken more.
First one is for the mission you have 10 minutes to finish.
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/Ln5db1U.jpg)
Second one is just a thank god its over moment maybe wouldn't of felt so amazing if I wasn't gimped on 100 solarite. Those 12 extra seconds were also nice.
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/2q5MQOm.jpg)
Anyway anyone else finished this yet?

Grats. I'm still missing some of the masteries, some look real tough and frustrating, so I'm playing co-op for a while in the meantime and maybe someone will post more fun video guides on how to do them in like 5 minutes like the DT mission which I can copy.

7:14 on forbidden weapon... HOW?!
Was proud of that. Having failed like 3 times to do it the right way I found a shortcut.
+ Show Spoiler +Rush straight to DT build nothing else clear the first prism/cannon with brute force then move up to the left most pylon powered doorway if you hug the gateway in the middle you can see on the other side then use the 3 beam attack (forget its name second ability 3rd tier) to hit the pylon, then just dodge the next cannon save up for the ability again (you should have 4-6 dts) then run up the ramp past all the prism places to the top left corner disable the cannons with the ability then wait for the cd and get the last 2 and win.

Sounds cool, you should post some video guides. I love watching sneaky innovative ways to do these. I think with the last Story mission achievement (End of an Era) bugged for me, and a bunch of others, we can't get 100% until it is fixed, or did you find a way around that?
E: Yup just did it in 7:39 saving often and trying to follow your steps and it worked out, thanks!
|
|
Yea, it is bugged for a lot of people on the official forums. They're aware of the issue, but I still have many-a-mastery to do anyway for that 100% (or 99% in this case).

I'm stuck with the "Anvil of Will" Achievement, I get only to 1.850 Billion Zergs, how am I supped to beat this 2.2Billions seems to me impossible.. How did you guys do it? I'm doing dts on all the 3 sides with lots of canons and the other defensive building, at the top I placed dragooners. I use my solarcore abillity to destroy the overseers at the beginning it works with no problem but at the end they just keep comming. Any ideas/advices?

Had mothership at the top, it can take care of a lot on it's own, but ultimately can delay if needed. Whenever a huge armade fleet come, you have to use all your units, not just one of the lanes. Used the Pylon radius speed boost ability from Spear of Adune helps a ton! Excess Minerals should be spent on building a Photon Cannons shell around the the 'unbuildable area' where the artifact is.
Good Luck Commandor..

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see this was already answered.
How to do the Anvil of Will achievement "Hold out until 2.2 billion Zerg arrive on Shakuras in the "Last Stand" mission on Hard difficulty? I spam as many cannons as there is space and those random Teslacoilcannons and have Dark Templars with revive ability. I also have around 20 Stalkers to hold off air units but I can only get to 2.1 billion and then I've lost everything. What's the key here?

Surround the middle area with exclusively tesla coil towers, then surround them by mulitple layers of shield batteries. You need a few more tesla towers towards the air lane. I don't make any Stalkers at all, I'm basically maxed on DT's and then towards the terrain between the spawning points. You build Photon Cannons and surround them with Shield Batteries.
I managed to get to 2.45 billion, by having no more space to build anything and having only a thin line that DT's can run through.

Did Forbidden Weapon in 6:37. It can be done faster, since at the end I was waiting on the cooldown, rather than the energy, which should be the limiting factor. Perhaps around 6:20 is the possible limit.

I did LOTV Masteries on Brutal, and man, some of them were literally down to the second. I have four masteries remaining, the epilogue mission ones and Last Stand Mastery; dunno if 2.2 bill is possible on Brutal, but some Masteries I thought were impossible on Brutal like Hostbusters(Mission 18) and Unrestricted Access(the purifier sentry mission) ended up being possible after tons of reloads and tinkering, literally down to final 3 seconds
Hostbusters was the most satisfying; final 45 seconds before 24 minutes, 2 pre-softened life Void Crystals remaining with full shields, bum rushed the one closest to main base with 7 carriers, 40 probes, and 12 zealots to throw off the shard using its instant death ray beam, Arbiter waiting at edge of final Shard on other side of map, had the guardian shield passive so i see a bunch of invincible probes working away at Shard.... at 20 hp i bunch up my now 4 repaidly dying remaining carriers, recall to arbiter, charge in on final shard, solar bombardment cooldown flashes at 23:45, fucking thing goes down at 23:55 on probably 90th attempt.
Had a lot of fun trying to figure out some of these, kudos to Blizzard to designing achievements on the edge of possibility.

I think the usual strat on brutal is to grab the automatic vespene and do 3/4 stargate carriers off strong upgrades. you'll notice that with a little help earlier on, the purifier side can handle things fine until the last wave, while alarak's side is going to have a ton a trouble after alarak inevitably dies. I've tried a few things like walling alarak off with nexus and it works, but it's a pretty big commitment and it's still not enough unless you fine-tune the other defenses including what your army comprises of for that final wave.
with the carrier strat though, you can pair it up with a bunch of arbiters, one on each side to start with, then once you have enough carriers you can split them up for each side as per normal. this way they retain a lot of units, you start stockpiling minerals since you're maxed out and you're not losing anything yourself. by the time the last wave hits you'll have close to 3k to spend on random buildings like walling off those highground ramps to the xelnaga device, cannons, so on and so-forth. if you're having trouble in the last wave, once they start to break through, just group everything together and use stasis on the ramps to buy yourself some valuable time.
if you like being active, try splitting up some corsairs for d-web at the large ramps, and then all you have to worry about is the golden armada in the later waves.

I think corsairs are really underrated for doing the mission. A couple of corsairs sucks, but if you have 2 groups of 5-10, they can very reliably keep anything on the ground alive. Just make sure you always a-move them so they don't all cast disruption web at once. They smart cast it, but if you move and then a-move, they all acquire a target at the same time and all fire, wasting the cooldown.
Combine it with some of the OP red immortals(seriously, they 2 shot hybrid and 1 shot most other units) on the ground for cleanup, and just use excess money on cannons/simcity around the keystone. For air defense I mostly relied on a roving band of about 20 corsairs and cooldowns. Once the last wave comes (there is no way to defend against that many units that I know of), simcity the shit out of the middle and run all surviving arbiters to just stasis stuff.
Keeping alarak alive is absolutely pointless. While his damage and abilities are absolutely nuts in the hands of a microable unit(eg dash>Q>retreat), in the hands of AI which frequently Q's into charge into death, short of walling him off he's dead.
Also putting 1-2 arbiters on each side can help tremendously in keeping stuff alive.

Is there any easy fix to the Achievement for finishing all 3 campaigns? I have it inactive even though I finished both several times(before buying LotV, obv.), loading last mission from archives is enough or do I have to play it through?

I don't think so, just have to wait for them to fix it.

Using an autofire-skript makes the Lost Viking missions pretty easy. Don't know if it is legal though.

I'm missing the achievement for kerrigan level 70 from HOTS. I did it at the time, my friend did also but it was bugged so i didn't get it. Do i have to do the whole campaign again to get it?

I finished mine I think the 13th of November, most of them in the first try. LotV was really hard.

100% with the exception of the "End of an era" bug.. lame. Oh well, it'll be fixed soon, hopefully with tomorrows downtime.
Cyro, I just redid one mission for the Kerrigan lvl 70 and it updated after that.. tried doing the final mission of HotS for the other bug, that didnt work.

The thread is here, but basically, as far as I understood it, each of the 4 zerg bases has a hybrid, and a 5th one spawns in the last base after releasing the first 3 sets of purifiers. So release the first 3 sets; they will kill those hybrids for you, and then go directly to the last base and finish the rest of them off.

For "Power Overwhelming": Well, one Purifier force is released when you destroy three Null Circuits. Since you can play on Normal for that achievement, simply destroy the first six and then split your army in half and simultaneously attack the last six in the remaining two areas.

Hostbusters achievement on the host is where I'm stuck atm.

I need help doing the Epiloge Mission The Essence of Eternity mastery achievement where you can kill only 15 units with Kerrigan. What are the first things to do when the mission begins besides ofcourse taking the fast expansion? What unit composition is good? What units should I snipe with Kerrigan? I always get rolled when there is the first big push coming for Artanis and Zagara at the same time.

Just a heads up, the End of an Era bug was fixed today - I'm at 100% now. Woo! Now to do the co-op things, which will be hard without a good partner =[

I think the best advice there is after securing the earlygame (tank up Artanis' base) start massing spectres, cloak them and sit them in the zergs base. They don't run out of cloak. The only problem becomes splash damage and banelings. I made a wall of them at 90% and used kerrigan to snipe banelings and void thrashers. The hardest part is surviving the earlygame with artanis though, he dies so easily. If you can get past that, reload saves until you get it

I missed out on some solarite (d'oh) and dont have the 300 achievement. What's the easiest/quickest way to go back and get them all? I don't remember which missions i missed them. Is there anyway besides replaying the whole game?

I think you can probably use the Master Archives to redo the bonus objectives of some missions to get it.

I am at 96 %. Damn, the mastery achievements are hard.
EDIT: I DID IT. 100% YEA

i never finished the wol ones fir beat game in 8 hours and upg all the hangar tech stuff because it involves saving and replaying entire campaign. fuck those kinds of ones.

The strat that was passed around the TLCH thread for it was mass air. Salvage the bunker by Kerrigan and the one south of where the expo is. Take the expansion and a refinery with the extra minerals. Go two port banshee with a couple Science Vessels, eventually add vikings but don't forget to continually make banshees. Keep building walls and you'll be fine. Also remember with automated gas mining you can kill the extractors and take the geysers that Zegara/Artanis have
The only time I beat the mission at all was with that mastery mission using this method.
EDIT: As to what to snipe, I'm pretty sure I sniped just the void thrashers (which idk if they count toward the 15), 2 BCs, and a Carrier. The BCs may not have been in the save that I actually beat it so it might have been even less
|
i just finished the campaign on brutal and i am going for 100% now ... Is it best to just start over again in hard or go through each mission with the archives? (i also need to get the 300 solarite achievement .. is it possible to gain it with the archives?)
|
The archives makes it much easier since you get the max amount of tech available for that mission.
|
I wish it did, but that bug hit me and I have no Solarite in the Master's Archive even though I collected it all on my first play through.

I killed one thrasher with banshees because I reached 15 kills with Kerrigan already. I definitely think I could have killed more thrashers with banshees so Kerrigan can kill more other stuff but I was still able to get the achievement. I'd imagine killing more thrashers with banshees gives you more freedom to use kerrigan for other stuff.
I originally used mass tanks for brutal but this achievement on hard felt easier than beating the mission on brutal at all. Maybe the brutal -> hard difficulty reduction helped me.

I finally got 100% on all campaigns yesterday.
WoL was probably the biggest pain in the ass. I had to replay the whole thing twice. Once to get conversations and play Lost Vikings, and again to do the speed run. The speed run on normal was actually really easy, I even got all the research and I think I still did it in about 4 and a half hours. (Of course I still played brutal on the timed missions; the third and last ones.) The two hardest things to do in WoL was the Drakken Laser mission (kill 50 protoss buildings on hard) and Lost Vikings. I didn't have flying units and it was hard to get up the ramp in the laser mission. In retrospect, I should have used floating barracks. As for lost vikings... well, it took me a while to realize that you can shoot faster than just holding down the space bar. But once I did, and got good at it, it became addictive. I've played it several times now, my high score is 840k. (You need 500k to get all the achievements.)
In HotS, the hardest achievement was definitely the third mission; killing the whole terran base before that queen's reinforcements. The rest of them were pretty fun. Some of the fun mastery achievements of note were killing the hybrids with neuralled terran units, beating the Kerrigan micro mission in under 12 minutes, and beating the first Korhal mission before the last drop pod.
LotV was pretty easy, maybe the easiest of the three to get the achievements, but it was still fun. A lot of them you get with either only DTs or mass void rays. I can't think of any that were especially hard, that had me trying over and over, like with the third HotS mission, but there were definitely a few that I had to try twice, one or two that took three tries. If I had to think of which one was the hardest, it would either be The Host (second last of the main missions) or the Kerrigan laser drill mission, which was the most fun.
I'd say that the hardest achievement to get in all of the campaigns is the Lost Viking gold achievement. I guess that's a little disappointing, since that's not even a challenge from playing Starcraft. The mastery missions (and "Hard" missions in WoL) were really fun, but I wish there were harder ones. I'd like to see some new achievements added. Particularly, achievements that require brutal mode.

Click on master archives and check every mission. You should find one without a brutal completion time.

I think they could have made it maybe a bit more challenging or more achievements, I 100% lotv in about 4 days of buying the game I think.

I do wish there were achievements for brutal mode, similar to the mastery achievements for hard mode. Maybe they can add those in later.
|
Can't you just try to do the masteries on brutal? Or maybe you want a badge for it?
|
This has probably been answered a million times, but if I cheat my way through the first few missions does it disqualify me from other achievements?
I've been playing at a pcbang in Korea but I neglected to copy my saves to my external HD so now I'm like 10 missions in but all my progress has been lost.
I suppose I could just set it to casual and blaze through them as fast as I can, but.. meh. This is already a big enough hassle in that I have to re-set and re-download the language to English every time I come..
EDIT: Hm. tried it again and it appears my save exists on the cloud. Wasn't there last time I tried, but.. cool!
