In general, the meager bonuses you get for a digital pre-order probably don't justify paying for something you won't have before 6 months. But I would suggest trusting the consumer a bit more, nobody is forced to buy anything after all. To me, this pre-order felt well justified because: 1) Let's not kid anybody here, I'm playing Starcraft and I like it, I would have bought this shit at release anyway. 2) I'm getting the fucking beta, with 3 campaign missions, so I actually get to play now! Pre-ordering is almost by definition for those who trust the product to be good and up to their expectations when it gets in their hands. You like to constantly whine about how Blizzard is a terrible company and is ruining the game, about how the economy is not like you want, about how warpgate is completely broken, about I don't know what else BW thing you're nostalgic about? Yeah, sure, pre-ordering is not for you. But that's about it, don't act like Blizzard is insulting you by informing you you can pre-order a game you don't like... Just don't pre-order it. I understand people who say do not pre-order and I totally respect total biscuit (SC2 eSports saviour and all that) but .... I will not get Beta access otherwise and this is the sole reason I am buying it.

Under ranked there's the option to do archon mode next to 1v1. I didn't try it out, but if it's not in the game already, it's coming.

It is even stated in the official pre-order FAQ from blizzard: http://eu.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/19817454/legacy-of-the-void™-now-available-for-pre-purchase-15-07-2015

Now it just seems like a promotion tool and a sure way to give you as the consumer zero options like waiting to see if the game works or not and buy it later once you actually know that the product is worth buying. EDIT: and for those who don't understand why you should not pre-order and uses arguments like: "YOU THINK BLIZZARD IS A BAD COMPANY THATS WHY YOU DON'T WANNA PREORDER" please at least educate yourself regarding the correct reasons as of why some people are opposed pre-orders : TotalBiscuit - Why pre-orders are bad Boogie - Do not pre-order games Kotaku - Stop Preordering Video Games Pre-ordering is silly, but in this case we've already been playing sc2 for 5 years and already had an expansion. We know the engine, we know what's up. There's no way i would pre-order anything big again after the disasters that were Diablo 3 and Skyrim but there's not much ambiguity here. There's also not actually any bonus content from pre-ordering aside from beta access (that a quarter of the games population already has by RNG) and early access to some missions that could maybe even have been cheated into and played before the pre-order was even a thing

None of the local stores knew about the beta/missions or had the CE at all. I'd really like to play through the prologue, but I'll just wait. The set seems to be stripped down from the previous ones as well, meh.

I think Collectors' Edition might be released later for a higher price. Like after release date is announced for maximal hype.

Each time i log to TL there is more and more pple watching broodwar than sc2 why are still trying blizzard ? You failed, end of the story. I laugh a lot wiht this comment On July 16 2015 12:00 JimmyJRaynor wrote: in 2010 Frank Pierce, executive producer, promised SC2 was a 10 year esports experiment. so we are getting 5 more years of support beyond our purchase of the final installment of the game. Blizzard either supports a game for a long, long, long time.. or they cancel it and never release. Blizzard never has orphaned a community... so the likelihood of Blizzard pulling a "fire and forget" is very, very low. Mike Morhaime would have to get fired for a "fire and forget" scenario to be possible... and he'd have to be replaced by an asshole. Indeed we all remember how blizzard supported broodwar, how ladder was taking care of and ofc how strong NA(XD) or EU scene was........ Blizzard shoved a knife on our back in 2010 but that was ok, it didnt made bw community orphan because Blibli was already dead in our heart since 2006.

Blizzard shoved a knife on our back in 2010 but that was ok, it didnt made bw community orphan because Blibli was already dead in our heart since 2006. Brood War's official servers are still up and running after 17 years and has no signs of shutting down, that alone is levels above the rest of the industry. True, the community has to pick up where BNet lacks but Blizzard games are always somewhat outliers compared to the rest of the industry where even community support are often out of the picture. It is not ideal to *YOUR* standards but it does not prevent you to enjoy Brood War by other means. Remember, technically iCCup and Fish are violating Blizzard's intellectual property by providing private Bnet servers. You expect Blizzard to keep providing ideal services that are probably costly for a small community? Sure you can but you also need to learn how a company works. BW was built on old technologies that isn't really up to today's standards and it is unrealistic for Blizzard or any company to do the things you obviously want. Blizzard supports its games well, it is a industrial wise fact. Also why the hell do NA and EU being weak has ANYTHING to do with Blizzard?

Here's what it comes down to: Do you want to play prologue missions right now or have access to the beta and play LoTV right now? Then get it. Worried about CE running out at your store location? Preorder it and get that stress out of the way. If you don't care about the aforementioned things then it doesn't matter when you get it. Bottom line: Get the game if and whenever you want it and don't let posters here push you in any direction then the one you want. I'm in closed beta already, but wanted the missions. So bam, got the missions and won't look back.

Pre-ordering itself is not the devil, it is the mindless falling for marketing hype which further encourages publishers to spit out more pre-order bonus bullshit and rushing games out of the gate that is the problem. We as a hardcore Starcraft community knows what to expect so it is less of a problem here.
