As seen on the official stream:
There is another thread up now about the medium quality of live GSL, but if you're like me, on the other side of the world and asleep during live GSL, then what matters more are the vods. Currently the two legitimate ways to get English GSL vods are:
- Buy a GSL twitch sub (which has all the season's content in a slightly annoying, spoiler-prone interface)
- Watch free on their youtube channel (...but only the first game of each BoX series. You knew there had to be catch...)
For the next season (season 2), would you like same-day, HD-quality*, well-organized, spoiler-free, youtube vods? Then follow this easy guide:
- Click this link: http://www.youtube.com/eXP
- Click "subscribe", as shown in this handy diagram (it's free):
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/lKisWWc.png)
- Tell all your friends, family, social media followers, and pets to do steps 1 and 2.
Step 3 is included because as of this writing, there are ~54k subscribers on their youtube channel and there's a little over one week left before March 21st. If we make a significant surge in this last week, maybe they'll unleash the vods even if we don't hit 100k. Youtube channels make money, they probably just want assurance the community will watch them if they post them.
Thanks for reading. *+ Show Spoiler +The current youtube content goes up to 1080p; now if someone could help gomexp to use a better video encoder that'd be great. + Show Spoiler +Also, if someone could help SPOTV use a better audio encoder on their azubu.tv vods that'd be great too.

100.000 subscribers seems unrealistic. If they simply release the vods for free, then many people who can't watch live will watch it, resulting in ad income...
Let us be honest, many people simply torrent this stuff instead of paying. I think making it free either way will do much more for them. Or set a more realistic subscription goal than 100.000. I first heard them make this announcement a week or two ago and they've only gained a few thousand subscribers, there is no way they will get 45.000 more in a week.

Well, this is stupid of YT... why I can't see the subscribers count while I am subscribed?
|
The problem is that I've been subscribed for months already. ):

That looks great, and is entirely in French if I'm not mistaken. Nice work to OGamingTV.

GOM should lower their prize pools and not try to do such large live venues if they are this desperate for cash.
Also, it seems ridiculous for them to put an arbitrary barrier for them to make more money. Simply an anti-customer business model competing in a market where so many other organizations bend over backwards to make sure the customer is having a good experience.

I don't think it's so much an arbitrary barrier as it is a non-committal advertising campaign. GomExp gets no money from the channel if no one watches it. If the paying twitch subscribers (like me) are the only ones that switch to youtube, they might actually lose money! Therefore they can't just commit to free vods on youtube immediately. However if the subscribers (and even the pirates) get enough non-paying people to join the youtube channel then it'll be worth it.
I don't know if it actually needs to be 100,000 subs, but hopefully between this and whatever other advertising campaigns they do before the season starts they'll be able to predict a profit from the channel.

Anything free in English?
|
I'm going to bump this because theres 24hs or so until the 100k deadline and they are not there yet. TL has huge traffic. Come on guys! To to that channel, hit subscribe! It costs 10 seconds of your life and you'd be helping tens of thousands be able to watch GSL at reasonable times rather than at 3-6am!

They used to upload all their Korean VODs (which I prefer to watch over the English) for free on their Korean channel, but they stopped as of this season's RO8:
