Other news
KeSPA President Jeon Byong Heon has resigned as president and will serve as honorary chairman from now on. This is largely due to a new Korean law stating that Korean MPs cannot hold other positions while serving their term.

It started at 7pm KST but netizens and live viewers complained about the games finishing too late for them to catch public transit so it got moved to 6:30pm starting on week 2.
Edit: Actually maybe not, if KeSPA provided maps for the next season we could have really cool maps in ladder and SPL alike. Psione hinted at them being released later this week.
Only in Esports could a league say "Hey, you know that amazing thing we did all last year that you loved and was a huge success? We're doing the same thing again!" and have the community response be an upset and disappointed one.

Euh, there is always room for improvement and iirc even last year people were kinda diappointed that it's "only" bo5. Sure in the end it will be fun regardless, but still...
What does that even mean ? Does the round one start on the twelfth day of february and end on the second day of march ? Does that mean that the play offs will take place on the second day of november and end on the second day of a new 14th month ? Or does that mean that the round 1 started in early december and I haven't been informed of it and will end in more than 3 months with the play offs happening before the round 1 has ended ?

Haha, I feel you. The dates confuse me too and wtf Dead Pixels flair???? Since when?
None of this surprises me. It's Legend's first time on the big stage, Coach Park has a timeless reputation, and Prime still needs to sign another decent everything.

Korean date format. It means it starts from Dec 22nd to Feb 3rd. And the playoffs from Feb 9th to 14th.

Bo7 would be cool in matches between the top teams, but I'm not sure people would be interested in watching the matches where both teams have to field a player below the level of the rest of the lineup. The 12-13 season wasn't great just because it had bo7, you know.

What's the banner in the ST logo? Is that "We have wildcards!" or "We're not KeSPA!" or something else?
Rumor has it the logo will be changed. I was also told after making that tweet that the official name is ST-YOE. We'll see how they brand themselves coming up I guess.
Only unexpected things I think are: - Journey joins Samsung - Aphrodite listed on MVP - new player Ssemi on ST/Yoe? - No ByuN (although not that unexpected)

I'd be happy with a full protoss/terran lineup. Our zergs disappointed greatly last season

Time to rank rosters! 1. Jin Air 2. KT Rolster 3. SK Telecom 4. CJ Entus 5. MVP 6. Startale-Yoe 7. Samsung KHAN 8. Prime
Jin Air has the most well-rounded, top-tier player pool, making the definite first. KT Rolster will essentially never field a zerg, given that their 2P 2T mains are far superior, which is a pretty big loss. SKT has some real winners on it with Innovation, Dark, soO, Classic, with a couple solid others. CJ Entus is decent, but none of its players are in too great shape -- Skyhigh, herO, and Bbyong will have to carry hard. MVP is arguably better than CJ, however, the zergs will rarely get fielded, and Taeja might not participate too much. Startale should not be ignored, though, having Life, Curious, Bomber (player coach now?), and San all of which are great players. The last two have potentially strong players, but none have been too hot lately, and the rest of their lineups are lackluster.
Overall, most teams have a pretty set-in-stone 4 players they will choose from, and given the Bo5 format, it's quite likely we will never see many of the players on these rosters.

You know, the nice thing about a teamleague is that the non-top 4 players actually can get fielded. They don't have to be the overall best, they can prepare excellent builds and wreak havoc that way. You rarely see the same roster over and over and over except with SKT last season.

I say Jin Air, SKT1, CJ, KT, MVP, Samsung, STYOE and then Prime.
Possible outbrakes: MVP doing well and secures spots in the Play offs. KT securing Playoffs and then wins the whole thing again. SKT1 dominate but still not win.
Tier 1: ST.Yoe, KT Tier 2: SKT, MVP, JAGW Tier 3: Samsung, CJ Tier 4: Prime
ST.Yoe and KT have a number of solid semi-stars that can get work done. SKT is limited to innovation, soO, maybe dark. Nobody else has really been impressive, unfortunately. JAGW is gonna have a tough time unless Maru/Cure/Trap get back on form to help out sOs and Rogue. MVP has a couple strong players, but none have shown up as supreme ace level yet (maybe marineking or taeja). Samsung and CJ are limited by the number of players with results.
So many DP flairs already Also my power rank/predictions for the whole season : JAGW > KT > CJ > SKT > MVP > ST (would have placed them in the top 4 with PartinG and Bomber not being a player-coach, but without these two...) > Samsung > Prime
Only unexpected things I think are: - Journey joins Samsung - Aphrodite listed on MVP - new player Ssemi on ST/Yoe? - No ByuN (although not that unexpected)
B4 is not the Captain for Prime, Creator is. Atleast on the picture is Creator not BBoongBBoong...
Hmm, basically nothing "new" except for the map pool. Everything else like last season if I see it correctly. But I like that, as the last PL was already very good. Sure, Bo7 would have been cool but I guess it's not doable due to scheduling.
Did we ever know what happened to ByuN in the end?
Also, no PenguiN for SKT?
Also, terrible rankings yay:
1. Jin Air. They have top players that can definitely perform well (sOs, Maru) and then a deep roster of okayish to very good players (Rogue, Cure, Trap, Symbol, Terminator, Pigbaby), allowing for verstatility and impredictability. Not enough terrans though, so maybe a weakness here.
2. KT Rolster. The most solid team as they can field 4 players that showed they can take any team by themselves (Flash, Zest, Stats, TY), but beyond those 4, it's quite bleak... Maybe Action? So tough, but no depth. Should one fail to grab its game, this doesn't look good anymore I'd say.
3/4. CJ Entus. 3/4.SKT. Honestly I can't rank them. Both team have a well rounded ZPT trio backbone (Classic, Innovation, soO / herO, Bbyong, ByuL), though I'd rank SKT's a bit above CJ for that, but then I believe a bit more in CJ's bench (notably sKyHigh and Sora, which I believe will do wonder against Terrans, and there are many to snipe) than SKT's (with Dark being the most notable). It will be interesting to see those two clash though!
5. MVP Choya and his band. They have a decent quatuor in MarineKing (which is apparently back, at least in TvP), HerO (which showed recently he's still quite good, at least in PvP), Losira (which is also somewhat back on a good performance, as we saw at HSCX, with 4 - 0 in his group and then 3 - 0 TY!), and Taeja. On paper this could look good, but somewhat I feel this team can be too easily sniped, or just plain wrecked by a superior, well rounded roster. Beyond those four, we still have a few names though that could snipe, such as Panic or Yonghwa. But overall, not well rounded enough I'd say. But then, it's Choya, we'll have to see
6. Startale-YFW. Okay, they have a ridiculous roster.... but only San, Life and Bomber really stand out. Surprisingly, I think they'll be the ones to pull the most upsets (hello Has), but I can't see them getting consistent result throughout a season.
7. Samsung Khans. Honestly, there's no player that really stands out on Samsung that could really be a big threat. They'll win games, but not series. Dear has been a bit under the radar recently, and the games he played don't really hint at anything, he should be decent but not that much, Stork's recent results are somewhat awful, Hurricane's as well. That leaves them with Solar and pretty much nobody else I'd say.
8. PRIME. Sorry Prime, even though you _may_ have a decent trio in YoDa, Creator and BboongBboong, with maybe Myungsik to close out series, but I don't think that'll make the cut. Maybe a few surprise wins here and there against Startale-YFW or Khans, but you'll have to make big statements with this kind of roster to reconsider this ranking.

People who are putting KT in the top 4 are fooling themselves.
Zest is just another patchtoss who rode the golden era of PVP/the only true era of Protoss dominance to success...he has been practicing PvT with Flash and TY for ages and is still terrible at it. Looks like he's already complaining about Terran being OP (That's Rain's job ). Stats and Zest are going to get wrecked by the Terrans in SPL (And Zest can't seem to win a PvZ recently either). Flash and TY will get sniped in TvT.
1. MVP (Because Choya) 2. JAGW 3. SKT 4. ST-Yoe 5. CJ 6. Samsung Galaxy Khan 7. KT 8. Prime

Yeah, a bad bait would have been ranking Prime above KT.

Damn I'm bad at this.
lol try as hard as you want, you can never predict proleague.

it comes down to b-teamers, because a stacked team is bound to get sniped by them if prepared right, also its better not value that individual success so much, some players will do much better in PL than in individual leagues, which is why I am sure Flash will cost more than Taeja for FPL
people call PL wacky and weird, but its something I'm more used to than individual leagues

Well it's not the same landmarks as in individual leagues, so when you've got your habits and see players who do well or bad in individual leagues, and that doesn't translate in the same success (or failure) in PL, it seems strange in comparison.
That's how you end up with guys like Rogue who perform really well, and you've never seen the guy in individual leagues, or with soO and his "decent but a bit meh" 13-11 despite being one of the best players throughout 2014.
That's also why I believe in Startale. I want to see Has snipe people with whacky builds
How and where do I watch Proleague? I have money. I want to subscribe. In the old GSTL days, I just subscribed at GOM-TV. Last year I was watching on Twitch, but now Twitch has changed up, and I can't find the channel. Help please.

You can watch it for free on youtube (KR stream) or twitch TV. If you want to support them and pay for the stream, you can suscribe to the SPL stream on twitch.tv. Remember that the SPOTV's own youtube channel uploads all the matches, both english and korean cast, so by suscribing to the twitch channel there isn't much that you get other than the fact that you can also watch the twitch past broadcasts (which includes interviews, the brief breaks between matches, etc).
Lol, ranking Samsung as bot-2 is bad, guys :D If Maru was on Prime last season, they would have been in playoffs at least twice, that's beauty of bo5. Samsung already have 3-3,5 legit guys and people with upset potentials. God dammit, RorO, why did you retire and who will i put my team around ):
And Prime is way stronger this time, they have 3,5 players since beginning and not 2,5 players after MKP rejoins.
I wouldn't have minded a delayed start if it meant for crazy new maps like what they did in earlier seasons of Proleague. I guess the standard WCS map pool makes it easier for players to practice on.

Not everyone did. And they probably have good reasons, be it financial or something else. I mean maybe the teams themselves don't want Bo7 considering some of them have pretty small rosters

I didn't, because I firmly believe that Bo7 would stretch current rosters pretty thin. Not all teams have 6 players that could be reasonably expected to beat decent players. Best of 7 doesn't automatically make the matches better or more entertaining (see Proleague 12-13)

3-0's take like 40 minutes TT so lame
So you'd rather want StarTale to get destroyed by Prime by a 4 game difference than by a 3 game difference?

People want to see bo7 cause it rewards the depth of a team. You could argue that the teams right now lack the players to make a bo7 proleague work and you probably would be right, but still, i don't see what is wrong with having some "lesser" players gain experience and playtime. With a bo5 we probably see the same 4 core players every week. I mean it will be great regardless, but bo7 would add to it (season 12-13 is a bad example, the quality of the players on average just wasn't there yet)

That's why it's cool to have Bo7 in playoffs, because it truly rewards best team. Neither Startale, Prime or MVP, even Samsung after RorO's retirement is going to be truly competitive team in bo7, but in bo5 they can reach playoffs and then try to check depths.
Removing Sundays is a crime though :< Even worse than finals in autumn.

Life, San, Curious, Hack, aLive, Leenock, (Parting, Bomber) isn't a team I would rate very far below CJ or SKT in a Bo7.

And noone from them is really teamleague guy. On paper of course it looks cute, even cuter than IM last season. If PartinG plays, they might contest round playoffs, having Life as your teamleague ace is kinda underwhelming.

If PartinG plays, they might contest round playoffs, having Life as your teamleague is kinda underwhelming.

When you say that they aren't team league guys, are you saying that they don't usually perform well in team leagues (likely because they have not put much focus on them in the past, as is true for most of ST) or that they're not streaky enough? If it's the former, I'm fairly confident Life and friends can handle preparing for a player they know in advance on maps they are familiar with.

I didn't, because I firmly believe that Bo7 would stretch current rosters pretty thin. Not all teams have 6 players that could be reasonably expected to beat decent players. Best of 7 doesn't automatically make the matches better or more entertaining (see Proleague 12-13)

I loved Bo7 in BW. Teams couldn't just rely on their top 2-3 players every night. Proleague was how I got introduced to the up and comers of the scene. Rain and soO both made their mark during that time as players to watch out for. Bo7 gave more room for teams to use snipers or give bench players live experience without having to bench one of their top players.
And the level of play of the 5th-8th best players on Proleague rosters is still above foreigner level.
Jin Air and SKT are going to fight for the title. I expect whichever of them doesn't get is going to get backstabbed by KT's dual-pronged weapon of Zest and Flash.

He has the power to grant pardons. We just have to see if the Kespa president will do that as well

Its usually when a new president is elected that general amnesties are issued.
