There will be a 7-set showmatch (including two 2v2's) between StarTale and an all-star team of Japanese SC2 players on August 23, 2014 starting at 19:00 JST/KST. All 7 sets will be played regardless of outcome.
The JP team will all be playing at e-sports SQUARE Akihabara. Those of you lucky enough to be in Tokyo on the 23rd should definitely drop by there.
* 1000 yen cover charge, includes one soft drink (excluding mega-coke/redbull) and a raffle ticket * on-site raffle after Match 7 (approx. 22:00 JST/KST) to win various e-sports goodies * sign up on the event page
The showmatch will be streamed on niconico with haruno/zer0cal0rie as the Japanese casters, and furthermore, the same stream will also be broadcast on twitch so people who don't understand Japanese can at least tune in. (if anyone who understrands Korean knows of an official Korean stream, please let me know so I can add it up here.)
Update 1: for match 1, StarTale is swapping Hack out for... Aphrodite! Update 2: they announced a nico stream! Update 3: I confirmed with them via twitter that their twitch stream will also be running :D Edit in lieu of update 4: nemuke gave me the idea to include graphics and map list... more info the better ya?
Sounds great, but I gotta admit that at first I thought itmejp gathered some of the old boys when I read the title Looking forward to see ST in action!

I was thinking the same thing haha! I miss JP being in the sc2 scene T_T
I tweeted to the guys at e-sports SQUARE that there have been requests for streams/vods on this thread... hopefully that will tip the can in favor of them guaranteeing a stream (even if the audio is in Japanese).

Speaking of, what happened to him and DJwheat ? Did they quit SC2 or esports all together?
Has Japan gotten better at SC2 since... ever? I really can't think of a single time when a Japanese player performed well at SC2. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing the JP flag flown a few times at the beginning of Wings, but.... other than that..?

I thought the same. DjWheat+Day9 2v2 vs Hack/Life xD
Nice to see that one of the smaller scenes is doing some cool SC2 stuff as well
Well I hope that Japan can at least put up a fight! Wouldn't it have been better to put Japan up against someone like China as apposed to a GSL champion?

Pretty sure JP has always just worked on his own content. He has been playing a lot of other games/been growing his own community. DJWheat works for Twitch. You see him do a lot of the weekly/interview coverage there. They're both still very active, just not in SC2 anymore because they've earned themselves a spot in the bigger scheme :o
