This is your first time advancing to the semi-finals for an individual league since your pro gamer debut.
I am so glad that I was able to advance to the semi-finals since I really desired to do well for individual leagues. But I don’t think I’m really all that happy since ParalyzE, my teammate and someone I value very much, got eliminated.
You had to keep on taking down teammates in succession. This kind of experience must be a first for you.
I got disappointed and angry last season when I got eliminated, but I’m winning everything this season. I didn’t feel all that badly about eliminating my teammates for the Ro16 since there were four players involved in a group, but I feel really badly about one on one team kills. But since this is an individual league, there’s no avoiding it. I do feel glad since I was able to make it through. I’ll treat ParalyzE to something delicious.
For both games one and two, your oracles got killed by his phoenixes.
Game one was just whatever, but it happened again for game two. I thought to myself that ParalyzE really came prepared for today. If I had lost game two, I probably would have been eliminated today. But since I played daringly even though I was in a disadvantageous situation, I was able to win game two. We got a five minute break after game two ended, but had I taken that break being down 0-2, I probably would have struggled to keep my mentality.
Are you new ultimate team killer?
I haven’t been able to function very much for individual leagues so I haven’t really done that many team kills. That’s why I have a tendency to reject having to go through team kills. But the way I see it, since our team is so powerful right now, I think that having to undergo team kills is something has to occur often. So I work hard to make sure I view my opponent as anyone else but a teammate.
So does that you also want to do a team kill for the semis? You will face the winner of Maru vs Soulkey.
I don’t want to do another team kill (laughs). Putting aside the fact that he’s my teammate for a moment, both Soulkey and Maru are strong players. So it won’t matter who I end up facing.
Which race would you prefer to face in the semis?
I think it’s pretty much the same. As long as it’s not a PvP, I don’t really care. But if I had to choose, then I would say facing Soulkey would be more cumbersome since he’s my teammate and a Zerg player.
We heard that there is an indescribable sensation for players who had no luck in individual leagues for SC1 but then went on to perform well for SC2 individual leagues. What about for you?
Rather than feel that my place has now changed, I feel more like the time for me to establish results has finally arrived. There’s also a little bit of embarrassment there since it took me six years since my debut to establish this kind of result. I didn’t get many opportunities, so I want to grasp this one and advance to the finals.
Anything else you would like to say?
I’m going to treat ParalyzE to something delicious since he got eliminated from the quarter-finals today. I want him to do better for next season. Since this is my first time advancing to the semi-finals, I will prepare extensively so that I can step foot on that finals stage regardless of who my opponent turns out to be. I hope people will cheer me on greatly.

How do you feel about advancing to the semi-finals?
I feel good that I was able to advance to a semi-finals since it’s been a while. I feel even more glad since I won against Soulkey hyung (laughs).
What did you think when Soulkey became your quarter-finals opponent?
Not much. Honestly though, I was hoping that Soulkey hyung wouldn’t get second in his group (laughs). But once I saw that he advanced out as second, I thought to myself that I had to work really hard now. Actually, now that I look back on it some more, I think I was a bit dazed during the moment he advanced out as second.
You took on two straight losses in one day for Proleague yesterday. Did that affect you?
The game has not been going well for me. I am sorry to my team since I’ve been losing a lot more lately. Ever since our break last week, I haven’t been playing well. But still, I feel good that I was able to beat Soulkey hyung today. But I have no idea if my skills are going to recover right away from this. I’m going to have to work even harder.
How did you prepare for today’s match?
Since there was Proleague yesterday, I didn’t really have a lot of time to prepare. I didn’t start hardcore preparations until today in the afternoon. I even came up with my build orders today. But even with all that, I still came with the mindset to work real hard. After I won game one, I got this thought that things were going to go well.
What did you think after you took a 2-0 lead?
The only thing I could think of was that I didn’t want a comeback to occur. He’s such a terrific player that I couldn’t afford to drop my guard.
Game four on Overgrowth was a fierce battle.
I thought I was going to win but I just kept on getting pushed back. I couldn’t help but think to myself, “What is this?” (laughs) But I think I was able to win since I was able to grab an advantage with my 3-3 upgrades timing.
You will face Classic in the semi-finals.
I think that’s going to better for me than the quarter-finals match I just had to play. I think even my Ro32 and Ro16 groups were better than the quarter-finals match I just had to play. In fact, I think that anyone else I face from here on out will be easier than the quarter-finals match I had to play today.
You showed us a mech play for the ace match for Proleague yesterday.
I could have won had I just defended a little better. Mech is actually not that bad. I just wish that I had known about his tempest intentions a little earlier.
Your last championship was during 2013 WCS Season 2, so you must be wanting another championship by now.
I think I can win the championship as long as I can just play this game (laughs). Actually, I think I’ve been taking it a little too easy all this time. I can’t help but think that the championship will be possibility if I just work a little harder. Of course that’s not me saying that I haven’t worked hard all this time. It just means that I need to work even harder I have some wrist problems right now but I will do better.
Anything else you would like to say?
I feel good since Rogue hyung helped me with practice this morning. I hope TRUE hyung can make it through to the semi-finals on Friday. Lastly, I want to thank coach Ryu Won for giving me lots of advice.

How do you feel about advancing to the semi-finals?
This might make me sound a little arrogant but I’m not all that glad since I advanced through so easily. So I’m going to try to enjoy this all day today.
You seemed very confident. What did you expect was going to happen?
My style is to put emphasis on obtaining objective data. Since I had really good data, I predicted that I would win today. And then it happened like so.
Solar showed a fast Zergling aggression for game one.
I saw his lings with my overlord. Once I saw that, I realized that my opponent had prepared really hard for this. I told myself that I should try to block this attack first and then aim for the late game. But then I blocked it easier than expected so I think that’s why I was able to win.
So your games went well just like you prepared?
I expected Solar to aim for the late game, but as it turned out, he aimed for the early game every time. Things didn’t go the way I predicted but those were all strategies that I anticipated so I was able to win.
It looked like your game three build order really hit Solar where it hurt. You completely blocked his early ling aggression. Was that a separately prepared strategy?
That was a decision that I improvised. I saw his early game build and I realized that he was doing a strategy that I use often. Thanks to that, it was easy for me to defend.
If Zest makes it through, then last season’s final scenario will play out again.
Honestly, I was more worried about who the semi-finals would play out rather than the quarter-finals. I don’t want Zest to make it through but it looks like we’re going to meet again.
If you can advance to the finals, do you think you’ll win the championship this time around?
The desire to win the championship every time I advance to the finals is powerful. But I feel like that desire diminished bit by bit as time passes. But if I am able to advance to the finals again for this season, then I think my desire to win will be stronger than ever.
Anything else you would like to say?
I am always grateful to all my fans who cheer me on.

How do you feel about advancing to the semi-finals after taking down last season’s champion, Zest?
I feel really glad. Honestly, I haven’t been playing well lately so I thought things were going to be really difficult, I am really glad that I was able to advance to the semi-finals.
Did you yourself expect to defeat Zest?
Nope. Because I knew just how strong Zest was at PvZ. I predicted a really difficult match to occur. I think I was able to establish a good result however, because I emptied my mind when I approached my match today.
You showed us a composition consisting of corruptors, lings, and queens.
It’s a good strategy to use against Protoss players who go for stargate play. It also works well against colossi.
You lost in game one to the same strategy. Why do you think so?
For game one, while my army was moving out, that’s when all of Zest’s preparations were complete. I wasn’t able to do anything against Zest’s complete readiness.
It looks like you had a lot of fun today with your strategy involving mass queens. How did that strategy come to be?
It was a strategy that worked well in the past, but these days, Protoss players defend well. So it was really difficult. Honestly, I thought I was going to lose. Zest is so high up on the ladder that I don’t get matched up against him. I think maybe that’s why he wasn’t fully prepared to respond to my strategy.
Were you satisfied with your own play today?
Since I didn’t even grab ling speed for game four, it was pretty obvious that I was probably really nervous. But since the end result was good, I’m satisfied.
The semi-finals will be SKT T1 vs Jin Air. How do you feel about that?
SKT T1 players are so good. But our team has good skill also so I think it’s up to us to shut down SKT’s aura. I really would like for the finals to be between two Jin Air players.
The semi-finals will be a mirror match. Are you confident?
Recently, I’ve been losing to all the other matchups. So doesn’t that mean that I should at least win for mirror matches? (laughs)
Any pressure behind the fact that your opponent is soO?
We faced each other in the Ro32. Since he is such an excellent player, I was scared of him even before I faced him. I think I won because I got lucky.
The finals are right in front of you. This will be your very first time if you can make it. So you must be expecting things that other people aren’t expecting.
Honestly, I think this season is going to be difficult. In fact, it was last season when I was feeling confident. I seem to keep advancing through somehow because I just keep on playing. Since I was able to advance to the semis like this, I want to work hard so that I can win the championship.
Anything else you would like to say?
I want to thank the supervisor and the coaching staff for always working so hard for the team. I think I was able to win today because the coach mind controlled me well. I also want to thank the many players who helped me with practice.
There is a custom map in SC2 called “Progamers War,” and I’m really weak at it. So I am requesting a buff patch that will reflect my recent progress in results. Lastly, I want to thank the fans for always cheering me on.
