Hybrid settings are just graphic settings. And editing variables.txt is officially allowed, long time ago Blizzard Support suggested all the players who had problems with FPS to edit variables and add some parameters to that file.
Variables.txt - it's your settings through text parameters instead of nice dropbox menues in game settings.

I'm having trouble finding the "cache" that I'm looking for. So I'm using a windows and C:\Program Files\StarCraft II is where I went. There are some cache files in updates and versions but haven't done anything yet until I know what to delete exactly, help me plz
Edit: Ignore top part, cleared cache but ground is bright white now, can't even see building grid heelp

Added this paragraph to customization block
You can customize creep edge: it can be sharp or smooth. creeptrans=0 will give you sharp creep edge, like on DIMAGA's or AcerCella's streams. creeptrans=1 will give you smooth creep edge, like on low settings.

I never had black/pink floor issue, so I'll link you the FAQ. GL
The best solution to solve FPS problems and pink/black terrain is to do following steps: Remove lighting=0 from your variables.txt Clear cache from ProgramData / BlizzardEntertainment / StarCraft II (this folder might be hidden, google how to show hidden folders) Turn everything in game settings to Low. Close the game. Turn everything in game settings to Ultra. Close the game. Turn everything in game settings to Low again. Close the game. Make "Scan and Repair" in Battle.Net launcher (under SC2 logo Options > Scan and Repair) Copypast Hybrid options to the end of your variables.txt Launch the Preloader map (you may find it in the Arcade)

Noticed heavy bloom is back when playing new map Foxtrot Labs. I havent tried the other new maps but they may need looking at too.
How do we remove/turn down bloom so it looks like before ?
Here's a pic:

When it was possible to modify and edit SC2 more (pre 1.5.0 with streaming system times, and pre 2.0.0 - HOTS patch), some parameters with "hdr"in their name changed amount of bloom in game.
Right now it's impossible to change those parameters, because they are "attached" to other settings. So if you want to remove bloom/blurr - please, use low shaders.
In our "hybrid" case you can use Hybrid-lows, since only they use low shaders. Medium-hybrid and standard-medium (or higher) all use medium shaders, that "packed" with blurr/bloom also.
If someone will find some "unattached" parameters (i.e. those parameters don't reset on launching/ending game based on selected ingame Options), I will be glad to update 1st post with anti-bloom information.

Thanks for the reply Existor.
I actually deleted (after backing up) my variables.txt and started again to check. I used low shaders , Ultra textures and copy pasted the hybrid settings. Result was exactly like my normal variables.txt (hybrid settings).
All other maps (still havent tested a couple of the new ones but the new 3-base map was fine , no bloom) so far don't have bloom only Foxtrot Labs. Can anyone confirm this is the same for them ?

What is the best texture quality to use for these hybrid settings? Is it all preference really? I have the textures on medium with these hybrid settings, should they be low, or ultra?

Low ones are very blurry and the ultra ones are unnecessary sharp and take video memory

Just noticed Foxtrot Labs has no bloom now - yay ! The only thing I did recently was clear cache & repair, maybe that was the solution.
|
That's because a new version of Foxtrot was released that has a lower bloom, it had nothing to do with your cleaning of caché/repair, not that's a BAD thing to do tho!

Hi. I used Hybrid settings for quite a while now, but recently (by which I mean "today") I started having a weird problem with it - on King Sejong Station, I have purple models behind the bases (it looks like that: http://i.imgur.com/OGUsbHe.jpg). It's not really something that prevents me from playing, but I was wondering if anyone else had that problem before? And if so, how did you solve it? I tried what OP said in "known issues" section, but didn't really work. Everything works perfectly fine on other maps.
