"Patch 2.1 is coming soon, and with it we're adding new features and making a number of improvements to StarCraft II. Whether you're a mapmaker, an eSports enthusiast, an Arcade hero, or just love playing StarCraft II, Patch 2.1 will have something that's right up your alley. To help ensure everything goes smoothly on patch day, we're requesting your help in testing each of these improvements using the Public Test Realm.
The PTR will become accessible soon after BlizzCon and we want to make sure you’ve got plenty of time to be ready. Anyone with the Battle.net Desktop App and a StarCraft II account will be able participate in PTR testing. If you don’t already have the Battle.net App, you can download and install it by clicking the button below.
Sit tight, because we'll have more information on how to access the Public Test Realm after BlizzCon. We’ll also reveal plenty of details on the exciting new features coming to StarCraft II in the weeks leading up to the release of Patch 2.1. If you’d like more information on the Battle.net App, you can go here to check out the FAQ and be sure to send us your feedback using the Open Beta forum."

Oooo, sounds good. I can't wait to be underwhelmed with the lack of changes when I get the PTR!
OR possibly even be extremely content with the changes made~

My hope for the next patch is that they improve low popularity Arcade games.
The way I'd implement it is to allow a player to check a number of games that they would like to play (e.g. I really want to play StarBow, maybe SC2BW, or possibly Monobattles). The current system means that you either have to sit in a lobby for an hour until another person shows up or you give up out of frustration and go play a more popular game.
If you could wait in a lobby for multiple games, the chance of meeting another player dramatically increases and would make these games viable.
Further features could include a confirmation popup (to prevent populating a game when you're AFK), game priority (e.g. attempt to find a player for Starbow before expanding the search to include Monobattles) and possibly other filtering mechanisms (e.g. don't populate a 1v1 Obs map with less than 10 players) .

Fucking fuck yeah. Thank you. I missed having a ptr, and imho balance test maps don't really do it. Thanks blizz :D
Also huge props for actually waiting for blizzcon to finish to do all this. Imo it's gonna feel great to go into a new version of sc2 after this years wcs has ended. Plus the balance changes will create the "lets see how the pro meta really adapted to this" hype for wcs when it starts again for next year. Yea we'll have some weekend competitions, but imho the game truly shows when using the preparation format of wcs regions.
If I would even dare to ask for anything (given that I just care about 1 v 1 ladder) I'd say please add some ranks above masters. On iccup masters would be something like b-, maybe even c, and I'd much rather have a few ranks above it so once you hit masters you can continue to work towards something besides getting into gm before it's full. However as they even copied their league system into hearthstone I'd say this is somewhat unrealistic. Realistically I would love to get some ingame tournaments into the game. Imo a lot more people would compete, which would then allow them to connect better to progamers, if you could just launch the game, hit tournaments and immediately start playing.

tournament ladder game please. let me play a bo3 with my opponent or something similar
|
Any ideas what will this bring? Do we actually know something?

Sounds promising, I can't wait until the Blizzcon Panel to reveal the new stuff

My guess/wishlist
- SC2 multiplayer becomes a free to play game entirely.
- SC2 shop has been added and allows mapmakers to sell their maps or simply have a "donate" button if the mapmaker feels like having the map free is the best choice but still allow people to reward the mapmaker with the effort. A % of the money goes to Blizzard
- Team Portraits. In the same shop people could buy portraits of their favourite team (if they uploaded it) which directly supports the team. % goes to Blizzard.
- LAN mode for SC2, after other games like Dota 2 implemented it Blizzard finally decided to implement a way of LAN'ning. Only works after logging in to Battle.net however. But during the game a drop of connection doesn't stop the game anymore.
- Tournament mode for up to 256 players which requires a 2 dollar fee to enter (like Hearthstone Arena) for every participant. The tournament has several options, you can set a map pool which can be anything as long as it's on Battle.net in the region. (Best of 7 mono battles?).
The tournament mode has options for various tournament formats including extended series.

"making a number of improvements to StarCraft II. [...] Whether you're [..], an eSports enthusiast"
ability to create tournaments in game? I believe! If they also add an API so we could get players and tournaments information that would be perfect

Man, in-game online tournament system would be very, VERY cool and something. It would draw many players and viewers in I think..
|
The Battle Net Application is quite nice - i have it for weeks on my PC and it really is a comfortable piece of software! Im really looking forward to blizzcon this year.... if they use an entire PTR for SC2 there should be a decent amount of changes coming up!
|
Blizzard you had my curiosity..but now you have my attention

By a multiple Blizzard game owner The new launcher is awesome been using it for a while now and recommend it for sure... fingers crossed for automated tolurnaments (one of the features I miss the most from WC3)

Solve maphacking plz or make protoss harder to play

Have to say that a tournament system would make me come back for reals. I have kinda stoped playing sc2 becus i had no reason to. But i sometimes get the itch to even logg on to wc3 and play a 2v2 or 1v1 tournament. Ofc i will get smashed first round but i still enjoy it, simply becus its'a tournament and the one time you made it the first game vs a lvl 20+ humen player it feelt awesome and you came back for more. So dear Blizzard, find it in your heart to atleast think about this.

Really really really hoping for ingame tournaments. I quit my clan because I could basically blind counter everybody I played in our clan tournament every 2 weeks. That and too little time to be online a lot.

As many times as i've seen "please add tournament support" over the last year, if Blizz doesn't add it... then i'll be convinced they listen to nothing. This is a full on minor patch, not just a revision that we've seen so far in HotS. If they have any sense, they will put it in or at least announce it.

All to be revealed next Friday at Blizzcon :D

I understand being upset as Blizzard usually takes forever to do shit. But did they not add resume from replay? Did they not add chat channels when everyone was screaming? Did they not create the arcade? They do listen, they do talk about these things, it's just that they take forever to implement anything.

To be fair, we shouldn't have had to ask for chat channels.

I do hope they add tournaments- or at least a Bo3 option into the ladder menu. Variety in laddering yo.

Yeah I don't get the obsession with chat channels. People barely use them in dota 2 or any other game I play. They are pretty useless.

i only agree with the tournament one, but without having to pay (WTF?), that's really dumb.. i hope they NEVER EVER put microtransactions into SC2..
almost all of these "suggestions" you just saw them on lol and directly applied them to sc2, but that's not how it works because in lol they can do that because it's free to play, microtransactions are retarded in a game that you already paid 50 euros for

It would be nice if they could implement some of the team game features LoL uses: re-join game if dropped, temp-ban for intentionally leaving, report for various reasons, etc. I've never been a fan of Bnet 2.0, but after being harassed to play LoL, then actually playing it, Bnet is just that much worse.

I would really like the Bo3 option on ladder. I think that would spice things up a good bit.

The reason why, imo, the chat channels arent used very much, well gen chat kind a is on the US server, is because with the small font size and everyone having the same font color, it gets boring and stale really fast.
Would love several chat channel improvements with larger font size and font color options two of the improvements.
Would be cool to maybe start off with a few font colors then we can unlock more.

Now that you mention it, I agree with all of this. I spend a lot of time on Twitch.tv, afterall. A big reason being to chat. All game modes of SC2 would benefit from being a lot more social.

A really easy fix would be to just keep you logged into chat while playing a game.
Maybe someone asked a question or wants to play a game but Ill never know because my chat is cleared when I finish a game.
(You can stay logged in if update your settings to spam the chatroom messages while you're in game but thats not really a solution.)

We dont know how much blizzard will talk about patch 2.1 at blizzcon

Please implement the same tournament system that you had for Warcraft 3 or something similar.

I agree!!! I don't see another solution to counter LOL and WoT.... people don't go play another game because he's better, they just want free game!!

I don't want to download this terrible client. I already have to run Steam and Origin. No need for a third client just to play SC2 and RoS.
|
How do you know that it is terrible?
|
Did I hear tournament system? Hell yeah!
I'd be over the moon if Blizz ever decide to implement a cool feature such as that.
I downloaded the client a few days ago when I finally got my HS beta key. I'm loving it. No need to log into B.net anymore each time I boot the game.

Are we going to be forced to use the new client? I only have one Blizzard game so I won't get any extra utility out of it.

Afaik, the client is not mandatory yet. Remember though that even if you only have one game, it makes life much easier when you start the game because there is no need to log into your account as long as you are logged in on the client.

Also this probably mean we are not going to hear a lot about LotV, there isn't even a playing area for sc2 this Blizzcon.
