Judging by the sneak peak for next episode I think it looked fairly even. I think there are enough former Starcraft fans among the contestants to have this be even. Plus Sangmin has literally never won a deathmatch in 2 seasons of genius and the finals are just 3 death matches, while Boxer has a 2-0 record, both of which were quiet one sided wins..

Sangmin always survived the games not only because he is smart enough to do so, but also because he knows when to betray people for his own advantage. That's why he avoided deathmatch so many times, and even avoided this one BECAUSE he had someone he can rely on.
It's going to be true test for Sangmin in the finals. BoxeR isn't good at socializing with others (in this game) compared to others, but when he's in 1v1 situation he knows how to play around with his opponent's mindset. Sangmin, on the other hand, will be alone once again, and his deathmatch record isn't promising.
Boxer's methods are unorthodox, but you cant argue with results. He pretended to be a pushover and a low threat and made it to finals with the most garnets.

i do hope Boxer has been playing everyone for fools and he's like a 1500m running champion where he jogs along the back of the pack for 3.5 laps before turning on the afterburners and running away easily to the gold.

If anything, his strategy never really worked out. What people forgot, however, is that BoxeR is really strong in death matches that are not influenced by those around him. In a pure 1v1 fight, he is a genius. In a group situation, he is not.
What he did good in, however, is that he never made enemies throughout the show. He was just there: No reason to kill him, no reason to hate him, no reason to knock him out either because he didn't look strong. That's how he survived, and now 3 1v1 games await him.
The extra items that players get, how much influence other players have during the games (besides the items), etc is going to matter here. If anything, BoxeR wasn't main match material. But he's a Death Match material.

The games weren't actually bad, and I recommend you to watch them. It's better than most of the shit that we've been getting this season, besdies Duhee calling out Yooyoung
Perhaps I'm bit biased for Boxer, but I believe producer's choice of Quatro was just terrible, especially the way it is implemented. It is almost entirely luck dependent (The game decider was just "OMG will she have the green card?!" - minimal player skill necessary). Regardless, I guess Goddess of Fortune just decided to smile at who had better performed over the entire season the elimination of this player had been the God's judgement, and Boxer did pull enough interesting strategy to eliminate some of the negative images he picked up from the show.
Bah. Still peeved about QUATRO of all things. Would have felt less robbed if Sangmin beat Boxer again at legit game, which should've been interesting since Boxer did prepare for some of the deathmatches.
Jessica just posted a rather long rant on fb. From what I can gather through bing translate she was trying to justify boxer strat in the season and complaining something about yellow? I'd be greatful if someone with more knowledge of korean can read it and give us the gist.
my favorite lines from translate:
None of the dogs of the House sang themselves ambitious low-tech and low-cost we are so-called freshly made only two forward to give talk about independence from only when heungseon daewongun told me to be.
I asked Mr. Pro rim geniuses starring poker players, please contact me, I have decided to credit hat.

There wasn't any complaints. If anything, she's trying to justify BoxeR for his actions on the show, and how he is different from how he acts on the show compared to his real life actions.
And no, she doesn't complain about YellOw. If anything, she explained what BoxeR was going through, his strats, etc.

Anyways, I thought the finals were a relatively satisfying end to a slightly disappointing season. + Show Spoiler +
It was close and I laughed out loud during the second game. I hope Sangmin can pay off his remaining $1 million debt.
It also seems like Yellow has a lot of offers including a few more from public broadcasts, but he's still looking at his options. He gets good ratings, but the higher ups at places like SBS/MBC/KBS are half interested and half skeptical about a permanent spot on a show because he still has a tvN employee image.

Good ending! Seems to me like nada will probably join season 3 if the invites to one progamer every season continues, but he'll probably get eliminated early. Also I feel like another member of muhan dojeon(infite challenge) will join next season, I'm thinking jung joon ha or jung hyung don. see you guys in pyeonchang!
