Isn't it awesome that the Starcraft scene and community are well developed enough that when a player retires from SC2 there's still a very popular and lively Broodwar competitive scene to go back to. Makes me warm and fuzzy inside. <3 Korean competitive Broodwar might now be closer to semi-professional than truly professional (at least relative to the way it used to be) but the rate at which some of the new Broodwar tournaments seem to be growing despite the lack of support from most of the big E-sports related companies in Korea (Blizzard, GOM, OGN, KeSPA) makes me think that one day, televised professional Broodwar might rise again from the ashes. Its probably still a ways off because they have lost a lot of the infrastructure and money they had built up over the years, but who knows? The future is full of possibilities and I have this strange feeling that I can't shake that we haven't yet seen the last of large scale, television broadcasted, professional Broodwar in Korea. ![]()

I think he will not retire, there is no official news on Korean media anyway, only Major's tweet. Probably the Jin Air sponsorship saved him.
