Actions have consequences.. especially when it is us, the fans of this game, who are being treated as garbage by Idra, who evidently pay his salary, because without us, the fans, none of this would be possible.

or maybe not but who knows
No way. C'mon now just look at his ladder rank. Top 3 ranked zerg on NA. Idra played very well in the first game vs polt. But, this is a game of will power, not just skill. If every time a game doesn't go perfect you quit, you're going to have a hard time making a career. It's fine to quit games in practice, but in a tournament it just proves there are some major psychological issues. Back this up with his behavior and it's more obvious.
Ladder rank? Did you say that as a joke?
In my mind pretty much any korean whose name is even barely known could dispatch idra 9-0 in a 9 series without hardly even trying. I'm not trying to bm just calling it like I see it, I think everyone in this thread but the hardcore fanboys agree he was only even an "asset" to his team in the sense of drawing viewers, he couldn't put up competitively.
Even DeMuslim who is a great guy and good player, much better than idra and ahead of him in NA ladder just lost 16-0 to byun recently... and it wasnt like he was exploiting the same thing over and over, he was mixing it up doing all sort of stuff. And Byun is just one amongst many top koreans, the skill gap between him and demu is already huge, the skill gap between demu and idra is also gigantic so yea whatever. In my mind theres many players in NA who could compete with idra and even beat him with ease who aren't necessarily top in ladder. It doesn't mean that much honestly.

1) Idra quits the industry and goes to school/does other things- he will become a more whole/happy/healthy person, and his destiny was not in esports as much as thinks after all
2)Idra regains the motivation to actually be successful inside the game. Like him or hate him (and I'm not a fan btw), he has raw talent and mechanical skill and knows how to practice and get to the top. On EG the past few years since he got a comfortable salary, left korea, and just streamed a lot...he realized he didn't have to be good anymore and it turns out that lifestyle is a lot easier than being a top progamer. He even admitted this on Inside the Game when asked about going back to Korea for proleague. Idra has the potential and at one point had the drive, and it showed in how good he was, even respected in Korea!! He still shows flashes of that strength still (Blizzard world championships performance was pretty great).
EG, despite providing the resources and opportunity that every foreign progamer would dream of, was not the motivator that Idra needs. On his own, we will see if that changes. Its still so shocking to see EG without Idra...and Idra without EG.
I challenge you two to name a NA zerg player who consistently is higher on ladder. Enough of this ``Idra was past his prime`` talk. Just because he doesn`t beat top level Koreans at events doesn`t mean he was past his prime skill wise. Basically no foreign player can do that.
I don't know why ladder matters. In terms of NA zergs, Scarlett and Suppy are both better. And yeah, they can at least beat mid-level koreans.
Ok, top 3 NA zerg. I wouldn`t call that past your prime.
Top 3 NA? Probably not, I would put Suppy, Scarlett, Kane, Vibe and Goswser above him.
Kane, Vibe? You gotta be kidding yourself.
If we're talking about all time achievement probably not. But right now, in 2013, yes. Kane is a bit of strech I only mentionned him because he qualified for Shoutcraft NA while Idra didn't and gave up. Idra has better mechanics but his ability to win is bad.

Demuslim definitely needs to be in this mix. Not long ago, he was teaching Suppy how to handle 2-rax cheese. He was beating him constantly even though Suppy knew it was coming. No doubt Suppy has been quickly rising through the ranks though. He is probably the best player from the United States (native) right now and that's saying a lot considering he's a college student.

Some people don't know how to win despite their mechanics. (Idra)

If incontrol was such a good friend to IdrA he would've talked sense into him ages ago. That is what friends do. This whole poor-incontrol-talk is just wasted words. Incontrol feels bad? Good, they had it both coming then.
Every single cried tear for that news is a waste of body fluids. That was a big step towards respect in esports, one bad example cut off.
Yes Incontrol is responsible for his friends actions.
Are you 12 years old or just a troll?
Nope, I'm 30. And when a friend of mine who happens to be my coworker behaves like idra to the customers I would've had a serious talk. Think about the EG House as a mall and the players are the cashier. How long do you think would Idra have been employed?
Entertainment-BM is one thing, idra is a whole other story.
I'm not sure what the other guy was getting at with the troll comment, cuz your point of view is held by a lot of people, but my problem with that point of view is that you simply cannot hold one person's actions against another person.
I have a great many good friends, but I'm also an extremely stubborn dude. It doesn't matter what they say about my actions, I may not take their advice either because I disagree or because I am, as I said, stubborn.
I believe Incontrol when he says he's sad about the results of what happened. I believe he probably feels that he's failed his friend by not being able to help him with this problem. I don't see any reason not to feel bad for Incontrol. In fact I'd argue that he's probably more the victim than Idra in this situation at this point because of the emotions involved, when he realistically had no control over it at all.
But I'm a sensitive kinda guy, so I can understand that my perspective might be a bit strange to a lot of people.

And how exactly do you want to know about what things iNcontroL and IdrA may or may not have talked in private? I know EG did quite a lot of things to help him with his mentality over the years and Geoff was likely involved.
So, the question to be asked is: Geoff is incontrol of what exactely?
At the end of the day the EG Team appears, from the other side of the ocean, to be a mere soap opera with no affect on esports anymore whatsoever. Whatever games/tournaments i saw in the past year, EG was nonexistent. I even have not seen anything from stephano since he joined the team, but that can be a coincidence.
I still don't feel sorry for anyone involved. I just found the cheesy poor incontrol talk pretty annoying. You know, when you look at incontrol you might think he stresses his manhood. ^^
I understand EGs decision and I think it was a good one. Watching his game vs polt got me furious!!!! I actually called EG kickin him of the team in my comment on that game on reddit.
He has/had potential, talent, one of the best teams behind him supporting him and investing money in him and than he just throws in a towel. Thousand of players would kill to be in his place and than on top of everything he still has guts to disrespect other players, his and EG fans. Well im suprised EG didnt execute him
"Oh btw, I heard idra is going to join newly formed SC2 team sponsored by IBM. "
I don't even really think this is about what Idra said at all. EG is just adapting a smart business model of ditching players who are overpaid and under-performing (Which was the case for both Idra and Puma). Honestly, I hope this makes Greg re-examine his life, and approach the game in a more positive, constructive fashion, but I really don't see that happening.
