hate all you want. dont like him? dont watch him. he has all the rights to treat anyone in any way he wants over internet and the game.
Absolutely. As such he has gotten exactly what he deserves. I don't really care too much about this but it is something of a pleasure to see a well known public arsehole get a comeuppance. What I find inexplicable is the number of people defending him.

My opinion exactly.

EG just did "release" the gracken, that shirt is true~!

honestly- great to see that finally not even the most popular players can get away with way too much. while i hope that both parties will go into healthy directions, one of the reasons i dislike eg is gone... i might even start the ex clg.eu team again^^ i still remember the first time i've seen him at gamescom 2010 and the way he behaved towards his opponents (proper respect). while i do believe that a certain amount of trash talk is fun and adds excitement i think there is a line... just look at some of his sotg comments...
anyways i guess if i write "great news" i would get warned or so, so i'll skip that part. but i sincerely wish the best for him- and especially that he can fix the relationship to his dad.

It deeply saddens me that this will probably be the end of Idra's career (He has thought a lot in the past of quitting). Idra did something incredibly dumb, but he won't be receiving hate from me. He's made me way to happy over the last couple of years to make me hate him.
I'm not saying EG did the wrong thing, but I think a lot of people are throwing a lot of hate towards a guy who had probably done so much for them during the years. Whether or not you stayed up for 2 hours watching his stream or if you went and saw him play at an MLG.
We are losing perhaps the biggest member of the SC2 community =(

If incontrol was such a good friend to IdrA he would've talked sense into him ages ago. That is what friends do. This whole poor-incontrol-talk is just wasted words. Incontrol feels bad? Good, they had it both coming then.
Every single cried tear for that news is a waste of body fluids. That was a big step towards respect in esports, one bad example cut off.
Yes Incontrol is responsible for his friends actions. Are you 12 years old or just a troll?
Nope, I'm 30. And when a friend of mine who happens to be my coworker behaves like idra to the customers I would've had a serious talk. Think about the EG House as a mall and the players are the cashier. How long do you think would Idra have been employed?
Entertainment-BM is one thing, idra is a whole other story.

If you go back and watch SOTG from 2011 you'll see that Incontrol was not shy in pointing out Idra's flaws in a constructive manner and even said that he was taking time to improve Idra's mental state.
As Morpheus said, "I can only show you the door, you're the one that has to walk through it."

Maybe they should have made an epic sotg and told idra his news on stream. SC2 reality tv with JP Mcd.

Release the Gracken!!!
Oh wait, has that joke been said already?

I wonder how this entire thing would have played out if Greg was Terran from day 1 of SC2 beta.

Top 3 professionals at NA server: Suppy, Scarlett, and Polt (in no particular order). Rest of pros trail these 3 by at least a mile.

And how exactly do you want to know about what things iNcontroL and IdrA may or may not have talked in private? I know EG did quite a lot of things to help him with his mentality over the years and Geoff was likely involved.

Well, a friend does come to your aid when you need help. I think its foolish to think incontrol didn't try. Incontrol might not be responsible for Greg's actions--but that doesn't mean he shouldn't try (and I'm pretty certain he did, because incontrol is just that kind of guy).

Haha, this cracked me up.
I'm a little surprised by the news. I thought Idra could have spun the response a little bit and issued an apology that clarified that the target of his response was X and Y rather than the community at large. I wonder whether, when approached by EG about this, he was unwilling to do so, or EG did not give him a chance to explain himself and simply let him go. If the latter is the case, I'm guessing that they were just looking for a reason to get rid of him.
|
I'm actually surprised--Idra's "heel" persona was always part of his appeal. Even as he insisted that Starcraft II was a strategy game, not a dating contest, he was as well-known and watched as much for his BM as his impeccable macro.
This is a more dramatic move then I would expect--surely it would've been easier for EG to make Idra says he's sorry, make him share a beer with the offended fan, etc.

Idra probably would've insta-left the sotg the moment he heard the news.
