*shrug*
Lol, you actually buy that? Real talk translation of that is - SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!...and JP didn't show artosis enough of it, just like how incontrol left due to wanting to be paid more.

I did noticed that whenever the discussion regarding balance started, Artosis and Catz really molded well and held discussions for a while, leaving JP to occasionally interject.
Moonglade and Theognis never really were able to get that much to say on State of the game when it was JP/Artosis/Catz/Moonglade or JP/Artosis/Theognis/Moonglade. This shows potential to be a really good strategy talk show that can aid players in getting better at the game and looking at different matchups with a new and high level perspective, instead of listening to the opinions of each host about drama that everyone watching had read on TL or Reddit, which was actually where JP was drawing all of his content from.
The point of the show was exactly that. Getting great Starcraft personalities together to find out there opinions on the drama.
its not just the fact that artosis is ditching SotG to do his own show. or that he's basically doing the exact same show. or that he literally used the same people JP has been using. its just everything all together. maybe JP is chill with it (which i doubt, he just said that to be nice cause JP is fucking cool), but i'm not.
and Artosis saying that little thing at the end was such bs. doesn't like the way SotG is going? There has been more balance talk and gameplay talk on SotG this year than since the WoL beta. And JP has even been giving Artosis segments to run with the gameplay talk.

It's just so extremely lazy. I had huge amounts of respect for Artosis. I've never been a huge fan of Tasteless because I always felt that he would phone it in a good chunk of the time(not a huge fan of the off-topic conversations during casts). Artosis would always be the one to steer things back towards the game and you could see he took it incredibly serious. With this move all that respect is literally out the window. I have no problem with him feeling that SoTG wasn't his thing and he wanted to go do his own. But to do what he did and literally just take the folks from SoTG(minus JP of course) and transplant them to Meta is absolutely horrible.
Doesn't matter to me if JP is ok or not with it. ITG at least built it around their own hosts/guests. The same with Pulse. The same with 2GD. Yet this is literally a carbon copy. Artosis could've asked anyone and they more than likely would've shown up and yet he takes the laziest path. So much potential squandered because he decided to take the easy way while completely screwing someone else in the process.
You gotta wonder what is going through his mind doing this.
You gotta give some agency towards the guests. It's not like Catz, Moonglade, and Theognis are simply property Artosis stole. Most likely they wanted to do a show that was more inline with Artosis' vision than with JPs. If they didn't want to do it, they could have easily said no, but they have their own thoughts and most likely acted accordingly to them.
Production: 9.5/10 No skype problems, webcams were crisp and clear, audio was perfect, overlays and transitions were good. I suspect you had someone in the background doing the camera work, I don't think Artosis was doing it himself. Honestly the only way to get the last .5 points would be to have a full studio like NASL Pulse.
Content: 7/10 A little stale this week just because, well, everything had already been hashed out on every other show. There was nothing really new. I liked the actual strategy talk, I feel this is one area in which Artosis is obviously a superior host to JP. I think the potential is there to elevate the show back to a higher level in terms of gameplay discussion. Seems like the drama/news was glazed over a little bit.
Hosts: 6/10 I don't mind anybody who was on the show, obviously, it was pretty much the standard neo-SOTG cast. The problem is that none of them are really electrifying personalities. Imagine the same show, but with Tasteless included. Or Incontrol. It was a little dry, lacking humor, but also really lacking flavour of any kind - Moonglade and TheOgnis are pretty neutral, bland dudes. With Artosis also made slightly bland (since he has to take the role of the host) that left only Catz to have any sort of personality at all! I don't know if the intention is to rotate the guests or what, I guess it largely depends if this was the death knell of SOTG or not. While I have no problem with any of the guests, I do certainly hope that exact configuration is not what we see every week, or that they grow some more chemistry as the whole show really did seem a little sterile and bland.
overall: 22.5/30
its kind of weird how jp got thrown under the bus but I get the feeling he's been trying to get into the old boy's club for a long time and it just hasn't worked out for him.

This x 1000. Again, it seems like nobody has been watching SOTG since the beginning of the year. There has been a substantial amount of balance and metagame talk compared to last year.

Maybe the direction part is related to seperating the strategy and making the focal part of the show away from news and drama in the community. The new SotG this year have been pretty short and the discussions more of statements and not active back and forth. Its entirely possible Artosis wants to bring back the back and forth about unit interactions and strategy from 2 years ago in early SotG history

But.. that's exactly what happened on this show, except without the JP.
Why is everyone feeling the need to pick a side? I like SOTG, I like Meta (from what I've seen, the tail-end of the first episode), and they seem to fill different roles. If there's something personal going on in the background, that's their issue, and I don't see why it should stop me from enjoying two different shows that cover different aspects of professional SC2.
I really liked the show, specially that it's focused more towards the game itself and balance. That is what I'll be looking forward to on a weekly basis.
We dont know what happened, maybe JP didnt want to continue to host SOTG, maybe the guest felt JP was a bit control freak, maybe its a money issue...
From what i see Artosis really enjoy talking about the game and everything, hes really passionnate. Maybe he just decided hey imma do my own show... who knows...

Or, at the very worst, let all parties involved have their bit on how things transpired before the masses burn the perceived parties accountable at the stake. Please, people, let the dust settle before jumping to conclusions and judgements.

then they are dicks too. (unless of course jp gave the go-ahead.) the radio silence on this is weird--especially with all the backlash in this thread.
