Perhaps there wasn't enough drama to fill the SotG drama segment so they manufactured some of their own, knowing how rabid people tend to get

JP has SOTG to get his host boots on . Seems logical to me.

I don't see how people see this as a positive, thinking there will be "more content" - This is a carbon copy of Sotg, how would there be more content? This is the exact same show, with the person who put it together kicked out.

Even if they do, it's not like he has a monopoly on shows where community members/leaders talk on Skype about issues relevant to the community. I mean nobody got all pissed off when Mr.Bitter and Rotterdam started casting as a pair for most of their events. "I mean Tastosis invented the casting Archon. How could anybody copy that. That is such a copy. It feels so dirty. And they even call themselves BitterDam. Direct rip off." All garbage. No doubt the two are great friends and JP doesn't give two fucks about this whole deal. Just like Tastosis doesn't give two flying fucks about other casting "archons." Of course there are going to be similarities, but they are as different as Wendy's and Burger King. Both burger joints but everyone has their preferred taste. Following opinions are based on speculation Bullshit. This first episode was a carbon copy of SotG. Same hosts, same topics, same look and feel. If it turns out that Artosis did this as an attempt to bring down SotG, then I'm disgusted. Regardless of anyone's thoughts on JP or the current state of SotG, there is no doubt that the show has provided some of the most memorable moments in this community's history. All the other community shows (GD Show, Pulse, ITG) all exist in their own niche, have their own individual flairs and have no crossover of hosts. Meta brought nothing new to the table. This is not competition, its cannibalism/division of a market that was already established. I hope that Meta actually does change to something unique, otherwise this is nothing more than a powergrab for a market that JP has spent nearly three years cultivating.

The situation might not be shady at all, but because they didn't address the overwhelming number of similarities between the shows, there's nothing left for people to do but throw wild conjecture around. The mistake was in not addressing it up front. I can't see Artosis screwing JP over, though, so I'll wait and see what they both have to say about it.

When he brought it back, he did a pretty good job at making it happen every week. Then this year , he changed several things to make it a more organized show and seemed to give Artosis more freedom to talk about game balance etc. He also just talked about releasing merch soon.

This was not SOTG. Yes it was similar and would act as a competitor if it continues like this, but it had a different feel to it. Less rigid and more focused on the game and specific events that have taken place recently, as compared to the comprehensive broad coverage of the scene that SOTG tries to perform. Yes the hosts were the same, but who else was he going to get? There is actually not that many pros that have proven they can hold an intelligent and non-antagonistic discussion over a variety of subjects. Furthermore Artosis needed to find people he knew would work well together and who he trusted. These concerns are much moreso important in the first episode since this is the first impression that sets the tone and expectations for episodes to come. I don't know if Catz, Theognis, Moonglade and Artosis conspired to perform a coup against JP, but I seriously doubt it was anything that dramatic (and if all four people who normally seem reasonable felt this was necessary, then there was probably a good reason). Maybe some disagreements were had, and maybe JP would like to keep his monopoly, but in the real world if you can't handle imitations of your product, then your product is just not very solid. We don't even know how permanent of a position Catz, theognis or moonglade will have on "meta", they may mainly have been there to bootstrap it. Maybe something bad happened behind the scenes, but let's just wait and see before hunting down Artosis with torches and pitchforks.

My memory of recent the SotG episodes that I caught was JP doing a recap of tournament results, and then the week of events reddit for the first half. Then for the latter half Artosis took over and it was talk about the game while JP spaced out and occasionally typed loudly in chat. Neither Moonglade or Artosis normally had much to say about tournaments results because they are on at a bad time for them, and they hadn't watched them yet. As a result the discussion of the tournaments usually boiled down to just "you should watch this because ___ played well". Additionally, the reddit stuff seemed to not interest them at all, as it's not about the game. The way I see it there is plenty of room for JP to do a show about some pros reactions to reddit, and Artosis to do one entirely focused playing the game. He seems to have found a group of people who enjoy talking with each other about it.

Was getting sick of JP and his haughty-taughty cavalier comments. Now just have to weed out ROOT and mondragon for a great show.
