You mean OSL and GSL or GSTL and Proleague (since Proleague is excluded, the former?). It's good that there is OSL "and" GSL because the fact that everything (for progamers in South Korea) depends on one tournament (especially considering most non-KeSPA teams do not even get salaries or much salaries, so they depend on tournament earnings) means it's too top heavy. With OSL switching to SC2, that means there would be two major tournaments which means more opportunities for pros to get money (instead of one tournament, there two tournaments). Also unlike foreign tournaments, there is no need to travel (so practice can remain relatively the same). So far, there has been nothing like KeSPA teams. Seeing KeSPA and their teams disband would be a sad day for StarCraft.

Traditionally, Thursday night has been Kartrider (which is currently empty). It's possible we could see the OSL on then, but it's lost most of the power it once had during the premier Wednesday/Friday night time slots to LoL. The OSL will be considered a smaller tournament (prestige wise) compared to the GSL and Proleague.

Gisado(GSL commentator) and the head-editor of TIG had a conversation like "People will be more surprised when the renaming comes out" when there was a such big trouble with the English client for the first day of GSTL. Also, lots of fans in Korean are panicking because of the rumor that OSL is over. Okay, so if OSL and GSL employees don't like it, and the media-in-the-know doesn't like it, why would OGN and GSL go along with it? Why would whatever it is go ahead? Money only goes so far.

It changes how feel quite a bit if either Blizz,OGN, and GSL actively denied or ignored KeSPA, or if KeSPA backed away from the table on their own. Why either occurred would be nice too but I doubt that sort of info would be released unless mud slinging really took off.

LoL champ has replaced the time, actually.

for people worrying about less progamers getting money now: that's a valid concern, but maybe they'll change the GSL (or whatever the new league will be called) format to a bigger tournament in terms of how many people play in it. they definitely aren't going to for this season judging by the numbers of qualified players, but maybe going forward. also Proleague and GSTL still coexisting is kinda cool as their formats are pretty different, and so are the teams that play in them.

What if OSL and GSL can see the business sense in it but maybe traditionalists or just their inner fan does not like the lack of control or perhaps lack of centralized Korean focus?

Anything that destroys the GSL I will protest, and anything that destroys proleague I will protest, or any exclusion of kespa I will protest. Hoping for a league thatbrings together the best of kespa and esf a few times a year. You said all I wanted to say, you wizard.

Latency would make this terrible. Unless you mean forcing a certain amount of each country to be in which would also just be terrible. That is what foreign tournaments are for. GSL is for seeing the best of the best.

anyway it's not like KeSPA doesnt have any leverage. Lets see how these big ass conglomerates react if Proleague really get shafted and fuck global league or anything like that. Starleagues mean skills

'Lack of centralized Korean focus?' I don't think eSports is focused around Korea right now just because of GSL. Its the best league there is and a global league would not look different in terms of Korean domination if you make it fair with global qualifiers, but no one actually wants ONLINE qualifiers for a professional league. It will allow cheaters/hackers to possibly get in. Now please don't say it cannot happen. It did happen before and will happen again if you allow so. Would rather see new big leagues in Korea
