When it comes to ad revenue, the US market is the most important. Sundance and TB have said several times that the US is where the majority of their money comes from when it comes to ads.

obviously true, but that's not what i was getting at. mlg is an american company streamed via an american service, so of course the ads come from america.

what i meant was obviously for domestic content, etc. china and korea have huge potential. just look at all the chinese players for dota classic or korean BW following

I don't think you can get the Chinese masses without Free2Play or "accepted piracy". And even then, it's hard to monetize them.

Korea... how would you do so? Blizzard has done so much for Korea already (GSL funding, getting old BW legends to switch over, KespA negotiations, special events, coverage on their official sites, ...) and time after time again we only hear disappointing news about interest in SC2.

This looks like it is likely the end of Prime t_t, and while it looks like Hoseo could continue, I believe at this point they would just voluntarily fold, which is sad but probably for the best. However, Axiom-acer looks like an enigma, they arn't a very well developed team, but the have Sony and Acer backing them which, in conjunction with esf consolidation, might give them enough money to collect enough big names to be invited into next proleague (Say hello to Ax. Creator, AxMKP and Acer Byun)
Other than that this looks like good news to me, if you guys refuse to watch anything but Korea v.s Korea then enjoy your two all-korean tournaments now!

If the region locks are not based on citizenship and some teams indeed fold, maybe we see a lot of Koreans move to NA and EU to compete (provided the visa/working laws allow it). It would even be better for them financially, but I don't know if they can maintain their level long-term.

While I would like for Proleague and GSTL to merge somehow I honestly hope OSL and GSL will be kept separate and both in starleague format.

I've seen many comments on lack of connection with koreans. Well: people from Germany, Ukraine, Italy, Mexico, France and Russia can communicate in english. However - except for Polt and a bit of MC - koreans don't. Just let them learn english so that we don't need a translator all the time. I don't think Life would become much worse of a player if he would spent 2h/day on learning english. In half a year - however - he will be a lot more marketable outside SK.

Um... so much? More like they screwed up so much that they put themselves behind the 8 ball. As for the Chinese/Korean markets f2p/moba micro-transactions are doing just fine there. A lot of those companies make a stupid amount of money from those.

a full scale year by year WCS.

This is what I would really, really love to see. I doubt that it will happen, but it would be amazing if Blizzard could set something like that up and really focus on expanding it.

They're already setting this up with the old IPL guys (see David Ting) and they will do it until the next game installment, so I don't see where the doubt comes in when they're already working on it.

Well I don't know :D
He's a legacy player at this point. If he were to appear in the scene right now, nobody would give a damn.

What legacy? Dan basically got him to Korea via SDM giving him the license to join estro only to be moved to CJ. The funny thing is IdrA didn't even win the scforall Spirit Tournament, but still was rewarded with the trip to Korea. Helps having a friend who hosts the thing and has good mechanics. So after really asking SDM to give him a license he got it and went to Korea. The good trait of IdrA is that he was persistent so he stuck with it even when he was still doing bad and in a foreign country. A year later he starts winning shit in the foreigner scene while making Tossgirl cry because she loses to him in a qualifier. Once SC2 is announced he switches over right away while still in the CJ house and gets picked up by EG to make a few runs in the GSL. Apparently people like to see the guy rage or see how he will lose next. Huk and the hallucination VRs were quite something else I must admit. I don't know what legacy you guys talking about. If it's the comedy side to all of it. Sure then I can understand it.

To the Swedish IdrA fanboy. Grubby is more popular. You want to know why? Because all of Grubby's Asian fans outweigh IdrA's entire fan base. It's not a myth. If there is one thing IdrA does still have it is the stream numbers.

As far as my information goes, it isn't quite good news for China/Taiwan scene since they'll have to compete in the KR region of the Blizzard league. In fact Blizzard China and Taiwan are against this idea.

Maybe they'll make a SEA region and a Korean region? You know similar to WoL?

Originally anti-SC2 and yes pro-KeSPA. To be honest I don't check that website often enough because they do post a lot of crap. I wonder how they got approval in the first place to put that up.

Might've been going for the anti-Blizzard angle as usual then, implicating Kespa being screwed over as always, etc etc, but this time it backfired because Kespa either felt the coverage negatively affected them, or, they were happy with the negotiations that had occured.

I just gave him the "legacy player" honorific to not offend his fans :D
I like the guy and I think he was a good Zerg player at some point, I even root for him when I see him play in big events. But I'm not blind, he's completely irrelevant in today's Starcraft 2.
And the comedy side definitely played a role back then. I mean, he gg'd on 4 bases to a 2 base MMA who had just killed his command center...
