Hey,
I just noticed that it seems like it's possible to get stuck in the wrong region before HOTS release.
I've been playing on NA lately while I actually have an EU account, because Global Play is disabled I can't switch back to EU and it's seems like the "region status" for each account has not been reset before Global Play has been disabeld for the launch period.
Do people have any solutions yet? I've tried to find posts about it, but google could not come up with anything so far.

Seems As I have read you have to wait on the region to open. Or:
The easiest way to get the game running is to download the English SG client, install it to the playable yellow, the do some copying from my NA files (Nothing to do with my account just the campaign .MPQ files then let the installer finish the rest. Game works like a charm.
Seems my issue was that I had downloaded and run the US client from the get go when I should have had the SG (SEA) client. My fault. All fixed now.

Alternative method if you are a pro hacker is just to change the value keys in regedit: go to the start menu and pick run and type in"regedit"
in regedit simply go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER < Software < Blizzard Entertainment < Battle.net < S2 and then change the value of "LastPortal-enUS"/"LastPortal-enBG" to whatever server you want to connect to. Example if you want to connect from us to eu you should do: LastPortal-enUS ="us" to LastPortal-enUS ="eu".
EDIT: If you need additional help beyond this like screenshots and so forth then you are not an pro-hacker and it would probably do you more harm than good fiddling with the registry and it would be best if you waited till Blizzard fixed it.

That worked, but the correct key name is: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Battle.net\S2

Could you make a before/after screenshot?

Happened to me, being stuck on NA.
Just did this and my troubles were gone, back on EU.
create regions.xml
<regions> <region displayname="AUTHENTICATION_SG_REGION" hostname="sg" allowedProductLocales="all" localesThatDefaultToThisRegion="enSG"/> <region displayname="AUTHENTICATION_US_REGION" hostname="us" allowedProductLocales="all" localesThatDefaultToThisRegion="enUS"/> <region displayname="AUTHENTICATION_EU_REGION" hostname="eu" allowedProductLocales="all" localesThatDefaultToThisRegion="enGB"/> <region displayname="AUTHENTICATION_KR_REGION" hostname="kr" allowedProductLocales="all" localesThatDefaultToThisRegion="koKR"/> </regions>
This needs to go where your StarCraft II.exe is and you can then switch region as normally.

Changing the registry setting from "eu" to "sg" allowed me to play the campaign before the launch :o)
