He took his tickets before knowing the date of the U&Down, and maybe he was focused on HOTS. He doesn't like the GSL.
You should respect his decision instead of constant whining.
GOM knew about Grubby's decision way, way, way in advance. It's not really the same situation.
Wait, I thought Grubby was planning on playing Code A and only forfeited because Gom made a short term schedule change?
And the real question in the Stephano story is: did he notify GOM that he wanted to play in the IEM? If yes, then I don't get why people are so worked up about this.

Grubby was never put in the scheldue if i remember right, people were wondering about it ahead when there were 49 players in code A.So yea Grubby arranged something with GOM compared to Stephano where he got scheldued and even his teammate assumed he would play.

wtf is wrong with a bunch of you people posting. "He would have just disappointed anyways". wtf guys. seriously GTFO. don't need people like you.

Meh. Forfeiting the most competitive league to play for a chance at the money at IEM. Its not like I dont understand him, I just wish it wasnt so.
People should remember that EG also might have finger in this, it benefits them way more if Stephano get top 3 IEM rather than potentially getting pummeled in U&D.
|
*sadface* nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Stephano!!!
And on record of what aphaise above me said... Stephano has shown a tendency to gravitate towards money in the past. I'm not sure EG would really be as worried about that as much as proving they're still a competitive team in Korea. (Not saying they aren't, but without idra or puma or really any other major EG presences...)

Makes a lot of sense.
GSL is such a slow format and is really just good for those grounded in Seoul Korea. Any foreigner with ambitions in the Western tournaments just looses flat out, especially when they've dropped down to Code A.
Hopefully everthing has been handled according to protocoll, however the release of groups where Stephano is present indicates he did infact not inform Gom on time. If I remember correctly, this will include punishment from Gom's side?

Slap in the face to GSL? Perhaps... but I'm pretty sure it was a simple math equation.
Haters gonna hate, who all assume this was Stephano's decision, when it may have been a team decision. IEM will probably get far more exposure for EG and their sponsors than GSL will, as far more people will tune in to IEM and subsequent foreign events, who are the targets for their sponsors. Seems simple if I'm making the decisions for EG.
Why do the masses on TL seem to forget that pro teams are businesses? Evil corporations? Most of these pro players would be entertaining you were it not for the horrible profit they make from playing. It's not evil, it's not greed, it's not selfishness, it's just business. No one does anything for free, least of all dedicate themselves to something for years on end. I hate the stupid freetard mentality that is taking over the minds of our youth. Health care should be free, but you want the best damned doctor on the planet when you get sick... the kind of sick the requires a specialist. Entertainment should be free, but you want the best damned players when you're watching. It's all the same. Profit, competition, risk, consequences all breed excellence. My hat is off to EG and Stephano for giving the proverbial finger to the GSL.

Very disappointing in stephano. my thoughts exactly

Let's face the facts, he would have lost and dropped out anyway. Not a big deal. Big fish play in big ponds, small fish in small ponds.

So Naniwa dident make a mark in GSL? Two times round of eight. Stop talking out of your ass!

Also I hope Stephano gets crushed at IEM. gives up an up/down spot after GOM gave him a seed to Code S... Never liked Stephanos attitude and it seems I never will.
Dont like to reapet my self but Naniwa have proven he deserved the invite. Dont go hateing on all forigners just becuse Stephano is acting like that.

A Frenchman surrenders? *GASP*

So he's pulling out of GSL completely? Otherwise you could have just said he'll play GSL, if it's not a schedule conflict it's just him leaving.

That's a bummer. I could see why money is a big attraction point (duh), but the extra entertainment value that GSL gets from having a foreigner play is lost.
