Oh well, at least Stephano fanboys can rejoice because they'll have an excuse for his meteoric plummet into Code B.
Well nothing has been said yet regarding the PL match, we only know that stephano is supposed to play and so far he has not cancelled.

Of course I'm not serious at all. I am mocking the people who are freaking out about Stephano forfiting a qualifying match for one event to go play in the World Championship for another event. If this were anythign else but GSL, no one would care. But for some reason, if the GSL set a match for the same date you were already planning to go to another event, you should cancel your plans and play in GSL. The dates for World Champions are known for months... and we had many code a ro24 games in this and last week, but no Stephano has to play in the same week like WC. That is the real problem, it is an embarrassment that the GSL cannot find a calendar or go to TL and click on the “Upcoming Events” tab. Artosis knows how to use TL, he could show them how and then they could avoid this problem in the future. "Now see these dates? Don't set the matchs for the white guy on these dates and he can attend. Got it?" too bad stephano could have played in both if he moved his flight a few hours lol you wanna pay a couple grand to do that? considering he has PL too, eg probably would be able to That sounds like a terrible plan and a waste of money. And PL is a team league, so some other memeber of the team can fill in. has never happened before and i don't see kespa accomodating. Well then its the coaches fault for not being aware of the Stephano's upcoming events. Who is the coach of EGTL again? Didn't they team up with some ex-Kespa coach, who should know better than to set his players up for a match when they are not going to be in Korea? GOM's fault! EG's fault! Airlines' fault! I wonder when you're going to blame the person that decided to forfeit. I doubt that Stephano books his own flights.
Also, considering the schedule I expect Yonghwa to either forfeit IEM or Up&Down matches.

Who the fuck cares that he's non-Korean. I'm not giving anybody a pat on the head for their failures just because they happen to not be white; I mean, if anybody on a ESF/KEPSA team did half the shit that Stephano's done, they would be anathema. And you know what? Nobody would care. He's not a quirky genius that wins OSLs. Flash he is not. Held up to the same standards as Koreans, he's not that great, and his antics are really getting annoying. (But not quite as annoying as the constant excuses from his fanboys.)
These double standards are stupid.

In most sports professional players don’t control their schedule or decide where they get to play. They work for the team and the team makes decisions on what the best use of their time would be. There is NO reason for EG to play in an U&D match over the IEM world championship. IEM will have more viewers, more exposure to a larger market and better coverage. It’s a no brainer from a business standpoint, which is what drives all these events and teams.

Remember that time grubby decided to skip code a to go play an IPL show match? Like two weeks ago? And no one gave a shit?
|
So he forfeits both GSL and PL matches for IEM. Good call Stephano.

I was looking forward to Stephano's matches. U&D always delivers in terms of nail biting excitement. Good luck in IEM though!

If he's really in the plane when UnD is happening, then EG fucked up big time.

That's too bad. Kind of funny that EG scheduled him to play in proleague when he won't be there xD

Does Grubby play for EG? And people talk about double standards.

Probably for the best, he stands no chance in the GSL.

Too bad
Chances are slim, but still, without participating in the GSL, he can never be the best.
oh..IEM champion is not a big title? Ah ok.
he's already taken down being "the best foreigner" BUT he ISNT the best in the world...so what else do you really want from him? he has to play and win until YOU feel good about yourself bc a foreigner IS the best in the world? He just isnt that, the best in the world; but he sure can win IEM.
Id take IEM any day over GSL U&D, too.

If it's actually EG's fault then I'll happily point the finger at them. Considering Stephano has a history of forfeiture and money-grubbing, I'm inclined to say it's his fault though. From any standpoint beyond wallet stuffing, it was a terrible thing to do. Now his team gets a free loss, his U/D group has less integrity, and he's shit on the Code S seed that was granted to him. Guess what happens next time an international player or team wants to play in the GSL or PL? The managers are going to remember Stephano. He's hurting more people than himself here.

Well, everybody knew Grubby wasn't going to fare too hot in the GSL. So while it was perhaps a disrespectful thing to do, it's not quite as annoying; Stephano's decision to forefeit rather than play and lose will let his fanboys' constant excuses keep flowing. They will still cry in every thread as you are right now that he's "the best foreigner".

Head: It's a smart move, going to where the easy money is. Pro-gaming is a profession, and it makes complete sense. Heart: Wish he could stay. Another white guy pussying out -.-
Best of luck to Stephano in IEM

only posters here can justify running away from tough competition for easy wins. foreign mentality and all - just shows that stephano doesn't have what it takes to succeed in a cutthroat environment where he's actually been pushed. he's got no competitive spirit; just trying to make a quick buck.
disappointing, but not surprising.

Also not considering the heavy penalty EG-TL will get. I really feel sorry for committed players like Jaedong and HerO that have to put up with this bullshit.

I started caring b/c you were being a dick and blaming GOM and I was trying to point out to EG scheduling him for Proleague later that same day and the UnD being way earlier than usual.
In Grubby's case, that was probably GOM messing up, I'm not sure. But he had no Proleague match to play later that day.
I like how you keep on conveniently forget that fact despite people saying that and didn't even talk about it until just recently.
EDIT: It's not Stephano's fault, I agree. But it pissed me off how you were blaming GOM while knowing nothing.
