Of course I'm not serious at all. I am mocking the people who are freaking out about Stephano forfiting a qualifying match for one event to go play in the World Championship for another event. If this were anythign else but GSL, no one would care. But for some reason, if the GSL set a match for the same date you were already planning to go to another event, you should cancel your plans and play in GSL. The dates for World Champions are known for months... and we had many code a ro24 games in this and last week, but no Stephano has to play in the same week like WC. That is the real problem, it is an embarrassment that the GSL cannot find a calendar or go to TL and click on the “Upcoming Events” tab. Artosis knows how to use TL, he could show them how and then they could avoid this problem in the future. "Now see these dates? Don't set the matchs for the white guy on these dates and he can attend. Got it?" too bad stephano could have played in both if he moved his flight a few hours lol you wanna pay a couple grand to do that? considering he has PL too, eg probably would be able to And PL is a team league, so some other memeber of the team can fill in. But is it even possible, does kespa allow that ? Well considering people get sick, fall down and have parents and family who die, I am sure they have a system for when people have to cancel. who's speculating now? was it best or something who had a situation with family? i remember reading about it.

So Why on earth was Stephano scheduled to play 1 before day IEM... He was scheduled March 4th in GSL and March 7th in IEM. What should they do, cancel 2 full weeks of games around every IEM, MLG, Dreamhack, Assembly, IPL?

Disappointing but it makes complete sense to me from his, and his team's probable perspective.
I'll cheer for him at IEM.
Decision made, no need to dwell.

Well then its the coaches fault for not being aware of the Stephano's upcoming events. Who is the coach of EGTL again? Didn't they team up with some ex-Kespa coach, who should know better than to set his players up for a match when they are not going to be in Korea?

So now EG-TL has to take a free loss in PL because Stephano would rather earn the big bucks than fulfill the promises he made to GOM and KeSPA. Unholy Alliance was a bad idea from the beginning for TL, just tarnishing their good reputation and commitment by being associated with an organization as paltry and laughable as EG.
Oh well, at least Stephano fanboys can rejoice because they'll have an excuse for his meteoric plummet into Code B.

Another failed korean adventure. You'd wish the 'best foreigner' actually had the competitive spirit to keep playing in the highest level of competition, I figured that's why EG was paying him his salary in the first place.
Back to winning the occassional foreign tournament I'm guessing.

TT It's a shame, but I kind of expected it. I'm sure that the GSL will be happy to welcome him back into the next season, if Stephano hasn't made $2 mil by then and gone off to med school.

GOM's fault! EG's fault! Airlines' fault!
I wonder when you're going to blame the person that decided to forfeit.

There are already full tournaments running HotS (see IEM), even before HotS is released. I don't get it, why GOM doesn't do it the same way... Because that one part has to do HoTS for their code S spots and the other WoL. Do you not see the massive problem here?

sucks he wont get to play, hopefully he qualifies when he gets back to Korea

Makes sense. More chance to get $$$ from IEM, and still gets paid by EG. GSL is way hard work.

That's not actually why EG pays, it just happens to go hand in hand. EG pays for big name players

Why does Stephano have fans again? The amount of shit that he's collectively excused for is kind of amazing. I guess the fact that there's a white person that can beat Koreans a tiny fraction of the time is so mind-blowing to people that they can't just admit that he's an asshole and start rooting for players that deserve the good will.
|
Very predictable, but none the less disappointing behavior from a team so heavily invested into Proleague/GSL. I can't imagine the Korean teammates finding this acceptable either. Not very professional or respectful.
I think this just shows things to come. I think slowly you are going to see more and more foreign teams and events pull away from Korea and separate to some extent. More White kids playing each other to "grow esports" (obv its not going to work that way). It was a big enough disparity with ESF vs the world, and now add the Kespa players into the mix and there's no way foreigners can compete on any meaningful level for teams to keep profit and the scene growing.

It's just business guys. Chill.

Pretty sure the team would have a reasonable degree in deciding what their player plays in, it's as much EG's fault as Stephano's.
