Team Axiom eSports appears to be set to send their talent to Korea on a more permanent basis, as earlier today Total Biscuit tweeted a picture of an intriguingly comical Korean restaurant near Axiom's "potential new team house." Axiom has at times had their players in a central location prior to this, but the current housing is much more makeshift than many of their foreigner and Korean team counterparts' team houses. The speculation was later confirmed on Reddit by Jenna Bain, owner of Axiom eSports and self proclaimed better half of Total Biscuit. A house is set to be "purchased" as soon as the 10th of January.
Totalbiscuit (@Totalbiscuit) tweeted at 1:14 PM on Thu, Jan 03, 2013: This is down the street from Axioms potential new teamhouse. I have no idea what it is but I want to go there http://t.co/LoJI3cmL (https://twitter.com/Totalbiscuit/status/286898329756000256)
Axiom eSports consists of players Crank, Ryung, and Miya, with major sponsors being Cynical Brit and Husky Starcraft. Fan favorite Crank was signed to Axiom after posting a very popular thread in r/starcraft expressing his desire to perform well for his fans in the coming months despite leaving SlayerS prior to the team's slow downfall. It remains to be seen whether or not Axiom will seek more players in the future. Axiom was rumored to be in talks with MMA two months ago before he eventually signed with Acer esports. A team house and previous desire for more players means there is promise for Axiom to add more players in the months.
Is this needed yet? I'll be the first to admit that I haven't followed everything Axiom has done, but they don't even have enough players for team-leagues.
It's not officially announced, so I'm hoping we get some details as to the goals and plans for Axiom, their players and what they hope to achieve (foreign tournaments and leagues, GSTL/GSL or eventually team leagues). Will the house be used for other visiting Korean players as well and who will monitor these players at the house and ensure things are going smoothly (beyond the initial setup).
Awesome stuff to see a house coming soon, I'm just being cautious with my worry that it might be too soon before establishing a proper team (whatever that number for a "team" is).

Well yeah they need a place to live that isn't super-cramped and not an optimal practice environment. That's our biggest concern at present. Expanding our roster is far lower down the priority list than giving the players a decent place to live and work.

I'd hope you're at least in talks with some of the more recent free agents. Would be a shame for Axiom to not be able to get a piece of the large pool of skilled free agents before KeSPA, AZUBU, and other foreign teams sunk their teeth in them.
Good luck with the project. I think it is very good that you guys concentrate on giving the players you already have an optimal environment before signing up new players.

Who do you think advised him to sign with Acer eSports?
Yeah.
Truly showing your dedication to the scene and foundation of competitive gaming, the players.
Great announcement for Axiom; here's to a good 2013!
It is good business to ensure the scene is as healthy as possible and that means players getting fair deals, being on teams they are happy with and being able to perform to their potential. It benefits everybody.
Now, that are some good news between all the drama! Talents have to be promoted, money has to be earned! Both sides get a great deal, i guess. Best of luck/success!
Wish Axiom the best. TB is a smart guy, and apparently takes things in the proper steps moving forward. Furthermore he reminds me of a young Fish(Derek William Dick), which is a good thing.
Anyways, Axiom seems to be pretty set on this, which is great as most upstart teams as of now have folded already while Biscuit and his team are doing well. I guess having a good manager really makes a big difference.
TotalBiscuit and Genna seem like the perfect team owners/managers to have. If I ever were to join a pro-gaming team Axion would probably be one of my top choices. They're caring, intelligent, and know how to treat their players. They've grown as a one man team to now holding some of the most successful SCII gamers to have ever played.
After the very recent TSL disbandment it's also reassuring to see that some teams are investing in Korea and Korean players and the Korean scene. Axion seems to be, in my eyes, the new biggest team to look out for. Hopefully they're able to successfully attract more sponsors to help Axion as a whole.
I wish the entire Axion family the best of luck! Congratulations on the soon-to-be new team house! ^ ^

Any news on when we can buy Axiom merchandise, or if there is already any?
So it is just an apartment, no big deal. Maybe better to let them living in home, and save that money to distribute to players, or send them to more foreign tournaments.

How is that better? They can send them to any foreign tournament if they want to anyway.

Really? Then with that much money, they should get more players, instead of only three.
More players, less money per player. Making sure your players have optimal settings to perform, outweighs quantity, while not being able to give the players optimal settings to perform.
You need a strong foundation to have a successful team in the long run, and providing well for the players you have, is optimal. When it is strong, and can bear it, you add more players - slowly, wisely and selectively.

There are a lot of advantages to have a team house in terms of sharing ideas, boost morale, regimented practice, etc. Even players like Mvp (who usually lives at his own place) stayed over at the IM house during his Code S run.
I think it is great that they are setting up a good environment now. And I am sure if the opportunity presents itself, they will pick up some players as well.

I hope you realize that you are severely undervalued when using notations of CPM as a source of potential revenue. You are about a few hundred thousand shy of what the Rose Bowl brings in online viewers, that is a very big deal. You shouldn't have problems finding sponsors if you present your information right.
Axiom already seems to be miles ahead than most teams at their inception, best of luck.

This made me laugh so hard. TB's such a boss. That said, be careful with responses, as im sure you probably already realized(from others mistakes of course), the Sc2 fan scene can be very unforgiving.
THAT being said...LOVE that axiom's getting a teamhouse. Hoping your players can get a comfortable situation where they can get some serious practicing done and become even more beastly than they already are.

How do you plan on marketing the team? Will you be focussing on the western audience or the korean audience? Will there be a tonne of content coming out, evetually promoting your sponsors and stuff like that? How are you planning on making the players more than just more faceless koreans? Will they be taking English lessons to help out with the branding? Are there any positions, non player wise that you are looking to fill?
They won't swell too soon, TB and Genna clearly have good heads when it comes to marketing, so they may take 1 or 2 from TSL, but they won't take the whole roster.

So long as you guys can afford it and stay in the black more power to you I say. Lord knows the Korean scene probably has it the worst in terms of salaries and living conditions at present. Not that the entire scene doesn't still have a lot of growing to do before being a 'pro gamer' or an 'entertainer' or even a 'worker' in pro gaming is a viable career choice in any way shape or form.
I would like to see Axiom try to partner with someone to be able to get into the GSTL now that they have a house. Maybe work something out with a team like NSHoseo to try to field something a little more competitive? Or partner with another foreign team with a handful of solid Koreans/foreigners willing to stay in Korea?
TB, I have been following your content since you were putting out podcasts for WoW 3+ years back. When you emerged in the SC2 scene, I was anything but a fan. Your lack of knowledge of the game mechanics and players made it frustrating to listen to you and I found myself listening to streams on mute. Don't hate me for saying that, for it is but one person's opinion.
BUT... to say you have come a long way is an understatement. Nowadays, there are very few casters I would prefer over you. Your knowledge and casting fluidity improved at an astronomical rate. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Your contributions to the community as a whole have been staggering. I have listened to Day9, incontrol, and many other SC2 community figures tell people that if you are interested in a career in esports, the best way to start is to simply DO SOMETHING. Whether it be creating media content, laddering hours on end, or simply attending events as a spectator, there are many ways to involve oneself in the scene.
You, my friend, have made contributions on so many different fronts in areas where other proven establishments have failed, and that it is truly something to be proud of. It may not be much, but you have converted me into a fan for life. Best of luck on the team house endeavors. Cheers!
PS. It brings a smile to my face to see you put these armchair business consultants in their place.
Think Axiom E-sports is turning into a team that I will like. Total Biscuit may not have been a very good caster at the start, but I dare say he has improved over time and his active participation in e-sports, not only limited to SC2, has really led me to follow his content. And Axiom E-sports takes really good care of their players from what I have seen/heard. Here's hoping that their players continue to do well in 2013, or improve even more now that their living conditions have improved!

Yeah, but I hope they get sponsors soon. It's not about them not being able to afford it, since they obviously can. However, that youtube money could be going into their personal savings and isn't at the moment. TB said his t-shirt sales paid for their team house, but that's money not in his own bank account too.

Husky and TB both do extremely well from YouTube. Obviously funding this purely out of pocket is probably not a long term plan of theirs, but I am sure they will be able to find a way to leverage over 1,000,000 combined subs into some sort of sponsorship soon. I am sure they have a plan.

they got together 1,8 mio youtube subscribers so i guess they are fine
I was in watching YuGioh stream and TB said something to the effect of "when we get more money we'll talk." If Axiom has money now they may go for him.
Well, Slasher's sources says it would be Heart & Alicia joining Axiom and probably MMA playing with them in GSTL. Will see how this turns out. Very plausible though.
