Didn't saw that coming:/. I really liked him at TSL. I hope he will find a new team soon.
|
Too bad :/ Coach lee is gonna be sad, I think he really liked Revival :S
GL to him!
|
That's actually really surprising... Well GL to Revival anyways I guess lol
|
This is unexpected. Best of luck to him.
|
I'm expecting to see him Rank 1 GM on NA and/or EU within a week or two. Seems like a popular way for free agent Korean players to promote themselves.
|
Maybe he'll join Acer to boost their already swelling zerg lineup?
I admit I was joking when I wrote that down, but hey it could be a realistic possibility :x
Nonetheless, best of luck to him and I hope he finds a good team.
|
|
maybe another acer pickup?
|
Didn't expect this! I'd like to see him going to Axiom or Team Liquid ^^ Good luck Revival! Hope you find a good team!
|
Maybe it's to get around the ESF transfer ban. Leave it enough time so it looks like <Kespa team> recruited him as a free agent.

Hummm... And Millenium is about to add a Zerg to its lineup... [M] Revival ? I think that would make sense !
|
Oh noooo TT. Well, hope he finds out a team, even if I don't really understand his point on foreign tournaments since he plays in the last 2 MLGs and last week at IEM Singapore
|
Noooo I really liked Revival, he might have been second fiddle Zerg to HyuN and Symbol, but he was such a special player. I'll miss him, and TSL is losing an important person in their line-up.
Thinking he will join a foreign team, either Axiom or fnatic?

Millenium manager keep dicking around these day saying he have a new zerg addition to the team and tease people about that, could be an hint ?

The last founding member of TSL gone, well good luck to him in the future

Didn't see that one coming o.o
m anxious to see what team will pick him up ;O

thought it was going to be another player going to LoL or DOTA. gl to revival, fun zerg to watch.

Sounds similar to what BBoongBBoong said for leaving Prime. MJRevival?

Wow that was unexpected. Whenever I thought of TSL the name Revival came to my mind. He was never their ace or star-player, but was there since forever and it will be extremely weird to see him with a new team. But gl, I guess.

If Axiom grabs him I would be sufficiently satisfied.

In defense of Acer, they did pick up Cella at the same time. And I think Cella counts as Zerg.

Revival had hit his ceiling on TSL and was reduced to the 5th string Zerg. When TSL had big GSTL matches, players like Symbol, Polt, Hyun, etc. all declined foreign tournaments to go, but Revival was allowed to play in them since he wasn't a needed player. Behind Hyun, Symbol, Shine, Ragnarok and maybe even Mamuri in the future, Revival was lost in the shuffle of a bunch of top end Zergs.
|
basically he wants to get on a foreign team, get the chance to travel on someone elses dime for a while, win a few matches for the sponsors for said team, and then retire once he gets tired of the game. Can't blame the kid, it's the model a lot of players have taken.
|
I literally saw him stream as TSL Revival (on his twitch account) this morning. I hope everything works out for him.

Clearly trying to grab gold from foreigners' tournaments.

I figured this was happening because he wasn't streaming from the TSL house yesterday. Best of luck revival !~

He joins EG, to join their teamhouse in Korea with Byul, JYP, Puma, Idra, Stephano and Thorzain where they will compete in Proleague.
It all makes sense. Think about it.

Nooooooooooooo! Did not see that coming at all :/ Hopefully he gets a new team and TSL carry on strong!

Honest version:
"I can't hack it in the GSL so I want to go for some easy money in foreigner tournaments. But TSL wants me to stay in Korea for GSL. So Bye Bye!"
OK maybe a little harsh but this is what it seems like. Maybe the real problem is that GSLs pay scheme is too top-heavy.
|
Always really liked revival and felt he was undersppreciated. Hopefully he can find a team that suits him and he can make great strides. Excited to see what's next

I'm guessing that TSL simply did not have enough money to send Revival to foreign events when they couldn't even afford to send Polt to Dreamhack. TT My apologies false information

Sad in the sense that he has been around since the Tester/Fruitdealer/Clide days of TSL, but he really wasn't important in the grand scheme of things with Symbol and Hyun on the team.

What is different about Revival leaving is because he did it amicably, not in a matter that raised controversy or hate against Coach Lee as other ex-TSL members did. Revival liked being part of TSL, but personal growth is just as important. I wonder who TSL will pick up next seeing as they have a spot open.

It wasn't an issue with money, it was GSTL conflicts.

Well Jokers are used in poker as 'wildcards' meaning they can be used to fill in for any other card... so I think it's saying more about Revivals skill in all match-ups.

This has shocked me to be honest, although i can see it in his demeanor and play that he was comfortable. I do hope a team picks him up VERY fast, because he will be a GREAT GREAT asset to any team. Rooting for ya Revival~!

While it would be cool to see him on Axiom, I'm not sure they have enough money to be acquiring even more top tier players. Going to EG for proleague seems more realistic to me. (disclaimer: I have absolutely no idea how much money Axiom has, maybe TB's mad marketing abilities is plenty sufficient)

What defines a team as foreign to the koreans is the management, not the players. The fact that Liquid is owned and managed by europeans gives it its status as a foreign team. For a lot of things in Korea, even FXO.KR is cited/treated as a foreign team rather than a korean team, despite its full korean roster. Only its long GSTL history and involvement in the ESF really pushes it to the fence.
|
theres no reason for me to have TSL as favorite team anymore. with Revival leaving that leaves zero original members
|
Wow..... This is actually really upsetting, but he could possibly going to a team playing in Proleague? Revival is one of my favorite players to watch so I wish nothing but the best for him. Definitely was a pleasure to watch him play in GSL and MLG.
|
They want that easy foreign money!
See what you've done MC!?
|
Hmm... Revival isn't one of the Zergs you'd think to send out first for GSTL. Hyun, Shine, Symbol. I guess Revival didn't feel like being in the shadow. Prime would do good with a zerg like Revival, he's been pretty solid and consistent this whole time.

Really though, I thought something might be up when I noticed he was streaming in a different location early this morning. I wish him all the best. It really doesn't seem like he left completely for the money considering he said he was basically too complacent in the TSL house and didn't feel he was getting better and wants to get better, not just get easy money (especially considering how many Playhem dailies he's won).

Probably, or maybe because he was relegated to playing mostly in online cups for his money rather than large LANs.

Revival is one of the Koreans that I see at the most foreign events... He has been to a ton in the past year. TSL seemed to send him around a lot. I wonder if they said that after so many disappointments they wouldn't be sending him anymore or something. Really seems strange to me that he would leave. I guess there is also him feeling stuck but I don't feel like that's a real reason.
|
I'm a little concerned for Revival's skill in the future because all players who leave TSL generally drop in skill after reaching a skill ceiling. Or maybe the TSL curse only applies to those who left without an amicable leave (e.g. aLive, JYP, Heart).

Shhh! no spoilers. He's obviously inadvertently transported himself 1.5 years into the future, on a really lame time machine.

Korean players like to talk around their only reason to leave: more money, and since I can't get it in Korea I need to look elsewhere. Alas, it can be a wise career decision if you're not a top player.

|
Or like TSL not being in eSF or Kespa thus being able to practice with neither group...
Sad to see, will probably join a foreign/kespa team that can offer him money.

Wait, so Heart's skill has dropped when he went from an average unknown fringe Korean to a staple top eight at MLGs? And correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't aLive win IPL4 as Fnatic? Cursed! Honestly, Heart wasn't unknown. He was one of the up and comers that showed huge potential and great gameplay. Then he moved teams and didn't really accomplish anything and didn't get any better than he had already gotten at TSL. aLive was already a beast when he was in TSL. One of the best terrans in the world, but not yet with any major results. He moved to Fnatic in that condition, maintained it for a short while, then won IPL4. But honestly, he's the only player who has left TSL and maintained a scary good condition for a good period of time.
JYP went from BEAST in TSL to pretty good korean on EG. Same for Puma.
They are good, don't get me wrong. Some of the best players in NA, but they were scarier when they were in TSL.
Just my opinion.
In this case though, RevivaL isn't BEAST in TSL... He was their ace player for a couple weeks, but aside from that he's just been a pretty good Zerg. He's lost his flare in TSL, and so it's time for him to experiment to hopefully get better somewhere else. Sad cause he was my favorite TSL Zerg...... but I wish the best for him!

How come people don't expect stuff like this?
Revival can potentially be given an opportunity to travel the world and win easy (easier) money, rather than share a packed pro-house in some flat in Seoul with another 10 Koreans all crammed up. Makes sense to me.
You think they arent jealous of Puma in that amazing EG house in Arizona or ForGG travelling in France?
|
AxRevival? Would make sense to add a zerg to the line-up.

I really hate seeing Koreans move to foreign teams. They always have the ambition of going to so many more tournaments but in the end they just disappear from the scene...
GL anyways Revival... prove me wrong

dont kid yourself
player A works 6h/day and gets ~3k/month total player B works 10h/day and gets 2k/month total
and you want to be player B?

I'll do a slightly more accurate number crunching for you
Player A works 10 hours a day and gets 0 a month total (esf player) Player B works 8 hours a day and gets 500 a month total ( Korean player on foreign team)
Player A Get his entire expenses covered for him. He doesn't have to worry about anything but playing and being his best. He lives with his friends and gets to have fun in his free time with his friends.
Player B gets 500 a month, works almost the same hours but lives with his family, and doesn't get much time to see his friends, since he has to travel across the city to see them. He also has to listen to his family complain about his career and try to force him into a career that is more "proper" and makes more money.
Player A improves rapidly and always is up to date with the current meta game, and has people whom he can bounce ideas and practice with.
Player B doesn't have many practice partners, and is unable to bounce ideas off of anyone.
Player A has a good chance of mkaing it into Code A, which although not a lot of money, he can make a lot if he improves and does well.
Player B has very little chance of doing well in or ourside Korea, since the competition is so swamped in foreign compeitions that being a Code A level player isn't going to get you very far.
That is a lot more accurate than your tbh. Although Player B will benefit in the short term, in the long term he likely won't make as much money. Someone like revival though won't do well, since he isn't a top tier player, although he is extremely good, he has a wealth of competition.

I would agree with you if it wasn't for the fact that in SC2 the difference in skill can be extremely small in addition to how easy it is for a less-skilled player to take games off a higher-skilled. Your explanation worked in Brood War...

This seems to be happening to a lot of mid-tier Korean pros. They aren't winning any major tourneys or saving up money so they feel like they are treading water with eSF teams. The problem is, most of these players aren't accomplished enough or well known enough to land a gig with a foreign team. Look at Genius, he is probably the best unsigned Korean pro at the moment and he has been without a team for months. If Genius can't land one, I'm not sure this was the best move by Revival.

I'm not sure how easy it will be for Revival to find a new team. Afaik Yugioh is still free and if he hasn't been able to find a team yet I don't know how Revival will do.

When he left to foreign tournaments, Revival was send for ace in teamleagues is what he meant I think.
With Inori switching to LoL and Revival leaving, it's time for Coach Lee to look for talent I feel. Revival is a great great player, but it's hard for him to be more than " TSL Zerg +1" even if his ZvZ sniping is quite famous.
I feel he can get quite more popularity in a foreign team.

Consider the fact that HerO Was in the Ogs house until it closed down, which was back in Feburary, iirc HerO did have some stuggles for a time where he wasn't doing so hot in some matchups. Recently he has changed that and gotten back into shape.
Taeja on the otherhand never lived in a teamhouse and had the personal motivation to acheive what he could.
My prime examples in terms of player leaving teamhouses only to end up falling in skill and not being able to acheive a lot would be Supernova, JYP, Puma, Zenio, and MMA

awww I liked him on TSL, now they are down a good zerg . Hope he ends up somewhere good.

Huh, sounds a bit weird, especially his reasoning that he wants to go to foreign events. He was quite often at foreign events, more so than some other team's aces I believe. And TSL is a team pretty famous for building talent, so there goes that argument as well. But I can't blame him, after all he was his team's 4th best Zerg and his prime reason probably is money, which is valid even though Korean pros are usually too shy to say so.

good luck out there. No more original TSL members?

"being too comfortable" "wanting a fresh start" "wanting to challenge myself" are all code for not making enough money and wanting to join a foreign team. It's a nice way of saying it, and I'm sure there's always an element of truth to what they're saying, but it boils down to the same thing. The player always wants to/ends up joining a foreign team.

Often it seems as if Korean players break from team houses to play on their own, the next step is being picked up by a foreign team. Think this will happen again.

Seems weird that a zerg player would leave a team with arguably the best zerg lineup. Every TSL transfer confuses me, they have gained and lost some truly skilled players.
