Thats what I was thinking. This is the rundown of what happened - *in a KeSPA backroom* let's have Rain go against those losers at MLG, he will no doubt win and also cause harm to the GOM franchise by not participating, thus showing that MLG is more important!
- Gets his butt kicked at MLG way before the final 4

- *in a KeSPA backroom* Drat! He will surely not lose to some no name terran and drop to code B!
- Gets beaten by a terran and drops to code B

MLG Dallas was the most premier and hardest tournament to date (missing only maybe MVP, but he's not in optimal condition right now) and Rain finished JUST before the final 4. That is by no means a failure.
Losing to Dream 2-0 and getting knocked out of code A is.

from possibly the best Protoss in the world to out of GSL. Damn shame.

traveling to Dallas > Korea > China > Korea took its toll imo
travel time between Korea and China isn't that much but it still takes additional time and energy to get prepared and settled down during travel

Ah, I love it when silly decisions backfire:
- If it was Rain's decision, serves him right.
- If it was Kespa's decision, I hope this leads to discontent amongst the players.

and what if Dream makes it into Code S this season?

I imagine he'll get right back in, assuming he doesn't travel or anything when next GSL qualifiers happen.

when you guys are talking about karma and shit, Rain is probably chilling on some beach, enjoying his off season vacation. Yeah I doubt he cares that much about these SAB, eSF, KeSPA, conspiracy, whatever.

except he's not allowed outside... did you forget he's owned by kespa?

Which explains why he has been able to play in tournaments that aren't Proleague?

Some people worry- I don't. I'm sad that this is just one less chance for other people to come up to Code A, because Rain is gonna take a qualifier spot

It was a terrible thing in retrospect, but I dunno why ppl are so quick to pin it on someone. As far as we know, it could have been anyone's fault; rain for deciding at the last second, SKTelecom for taking care of matters too slowly, KeSPA for making a sudden decision. And seeing as this happened inside a KeSPA team, we'll never know the truth.

He was sent because of
1. Proleague off season
2. mlg-kespa partnership
Kespa's number 1 priority is proleague. They wont send him
to events like ipl, dreamhack and etc during proleague (not sure about mlg).
Also kespa doesnt really give shit about players' individual leagues. Bisu even complained
about not being given enough time to practice for individual leagues because the team wanted
players to focus on proleague.

Nope that still belongs to the GSL. I had a look at the top 30 players from the 2012 GSL Rankings...
These are the players who participated at MLG Dallas + Show Spoiler + Life MC TaeJa HerO Leenock Rain NaNiwa Polt
These are the players who did not + Show Spoiler + Mvp DongRaeGu Seed Squirtle Genius PartinG Ryung MarineKing Sniper GuMiho Symbol HyuN ByuN INnoVation aLive SuperNoVa Curious NesTea Creator MMA Happy Maru
Kind of paints a little picture on how much harder that tournament could've been imo

A lot of the casters during MLG kept emphasizing that it was the hardest MLG to date, the most packed with Koreans and the most top tier talent they've ever had at an MLG. Those are obviously objective statements; but people bought it anyway after they hear things like "that open bracket has players like Rain, MC, Polt!!" or "the elephants are finally playing in the main tournament!!" Which is completely fine - if you're talking strictly about MLG. The problem is when people take it too far and say that it was harder/tougher/more competitive than any tournament EVER.
Please.
Objective comments like "MLG was the most entertaining tournament to date, because my favorite matches to watch are Koreans (especially elephants!) playing vs Foreigners, and MLG provided that!" are very much welcome. But let's be honest here, even Code A is 'harder' than MLG.

Why everybody is so sure that Rain would have advanced from his Code S group and wouldn’t have played against Dream in Code A in any way?

He only would have had to get 3rd in his group in order to be secured at least Code A next season but since he forfeited he was sent to the elimination round.
Nobody is saying he would have advanced, just that his chances to not get Code B would be much higher if he skipped MLG.

True lol, I myself watched this tournament for a different reasons.
My 2 were..
"Life just royal roaded Code S and is going to MLG, oh shit!"
"Flash is competing at mlg, he is in groups. This is actually happening..."
Though to be honest, I don't know if MLG will top Boxer going to Anaheim.
