I think it's important that we keep a list of all the teams that have disbanded. Liquipedia pages and websites all update when a team has disbanded but there isn't a specific thread or page that exists right now that keeps a record of all teams that have disbanded.
The world of eSports is such a fragile place with very little stability. There are a lot of teams that just *poof* disappear. But let's get one thing straight. Every single team out there that disbanded shared the same dream. To create a great team full of striving players who want to be the best. So let's have a thread detailing all teams that have disbanded so we can remember them.

How you can help: If I missed a notable team that disbanded, please post it in here. If your team/your friend's team/any team disbanded, please post it in here. However, I would like to ask that you give me a specific date at the very least.
Would zenex count with their merger? Also blast disbanded they had quite a bit of EU talent like roof, krass and syz can't find a date but krass says in his interview for the new team blast disbanded.
Could you put the dates in universal format of Y/M/D? The forum is quite diverse and it would make it easier to read if they were in a format for everyone.

Meh... aiR participated in a lot of team leagues. Mostly unheard of. If the list gets way too long with people adding teams that are unheard of, I will just remove that section.

Y/M/D is universal, everyone understands it without any issues whatsoever. My personal use of D/M/Y is irrelevant as it would be equally annoying for Americans, hence the universally accepted Y/M/D makes most sense.
Also is Rising Star a major team? I'd never heard of them until this thread, although I do recognise some of the players.

I see, personally I can't manage Y/M/D without looking at it for a few seconds, D/M/Y is so ingrained in my mind.

Do you know any details? Came out of no where for most people I imagine.
Meh... I uh... can't disclose that information unfortunately. But the bottom line is we were trying to find sponsors willing to stay with us but our LoL division and SC2 division went our separate ways and all the money pretty much came from LoL so our SC2 team didn't have the funds to stay intact. A lot of disturbing crap went on though. A lot of disturbing crap...
Legion disbanded? That's sort of a...surprise. Although I can't imagine that Razer, Maxfrag, and Imgur paying them that much to justify sending many people to events or having koreans on the team that hope to go to international events.

Seems fair enough I suppose, LgN LoL have been doing pretty well in NA while I've heard nothing for a while from SC2 LgN and I guess I'll let the unpleasant details be kept private.

i'm not sure vile fits the list as their full roster was absorbed by quantic. i don't think 'disbanded' is the correct term to use on them. Although i guess there's no harm in keeping them on the list as a record of teams that once existed...
I'd be for adding ROOT with a disclaimer regarding its rebirth, if this thread wants to be as comprehensive as possible.

Do acquisitions count as 'disbanding' though?...Maybe they could be included in another list if there have been enough (I can think of several off the top of my head.)
Actually, there is a page on Liquipedia for this: Player transfers. It doesn't just include transfers but also mentions when a team is created or disbanded. Since it's a page on a wiki, it's not complete, especially when it comes to information from the earlier stages of SC2, so any help in updating/completing it is very much appreciated!

Liquipedia lists to the team they left to after the team, right after VT he joined millenium then liquid then EG.

Yes, but it also has player transfers and therefore it's hard to see just teams. :/

Oh my bad, I thought it listed the players current teams, not the ones they joined after leaving the ones they are listed in. My mistake.
Good few names listed there, with some good memories. Shame that some of them simply disbanded because other teams took all there (good) members, e.g. Praetoriani.
I think there should be a distinction between organisations which previously supported an SC2 team, but removed the section, and organisations/teams that outright disband. Natus Vincere, for example, is one of the biggest organisations in eSports, and they have been saying that they'll be getting a new SC2 team for ages now (in 2013).
Complete list of all European teams, and some Asian teams with a Liquipedia page. Some are extremely non-notable. Just ctrl+f 'Disbanded' or 'Inactive' or 'Active?' and you have your answers as regards European teams.
Other American teams Clash Elevengaming Convergence Gaming Area 51 Gaming
Other SEA teams: Xeria Gaming - not sure, but nothing's been updated for ages, most of their players were acquired by other teams Team inFinity - clan, rather than a team, haven't played together since last January afaik.
I'll try and compile a list of all the remaining teams soon.

That's true. Unfortunately, you cannot sort the table because it's technically a bunch of tables taped together. Otherwise you could just sort by "team disbanded" or something.

Are the kespa teams part of sc2 teams now? In that case i can imagine air force ace being added to the list.. (don't know if they've officially disbanded, though..)

Ace already said they were disbanding once BW was being cut off. The team served it's purpose in their eyes.

Oh, for a moment I thought the countries by flags were teams that were disbanded, and thought you messed up with quantic being disbanded. Turns out it was just a list of teams regardless of if they were disbanded or merged.
If you can count that. imba didn't disband, but they are no longer a sponsored competitive team and FXO took all their good players, so does that count? Up to you I suppose. 03/03/2012 anyway.

I have a feeling that Slayers will continue to operate with alot of new faces ready to rock the world again. I thought Miya, Arthur and Dark showed some potential recently. Plus the Slayers fan base is still big even though alot of big names had left. Please don't count them out yet and show your support.
What a skewed list. I wouldn't consider some of those teams to be shut down, but merely some players being released from an organization. Example being NaVi, they released their SC2 team, but didn't close down. I consider that to be quite a big difference.

It says it right there though. "This team has disbanded"
It's semantics. If by "the team" we mean "the Starcraft 2 team", then yes, it has disbanded. If by "the team" we mean "Natus Vincere", then no, it has not disbanded. It would be more accurate to write that "Natus Vincere disbanded its Starcraft 2 division" or something along those lines.

Well I put every team that disbanded under the title "SC2 Teams that have disbanded" so it should be fine.

Sure they do, they read "Teams something something something" then decide they should quckly and lightly scim through the OP in 2 seconds and then chime in to enlighten us all with their infinite wisdom.

I still can't believe TSL disbanded... They fought so hard for their existence and they definitely had my respect as an organization of hard-working staff and players... If I had to pick a favorite eSF team, it was them...
Crazy that so many teams have disbanded recently.... Hopefully with HOTS it will renergize people to get back into the game and hopefully appeal to more sponsors
A month ago, french Sparte Legion team (players and manager) merge with aAa against All authority. It's only french scene but not too bad with Neoangel (4th in ESWC) or Eeel. I don't know if it's needed in the list though ^^.

I don't think Mistral will be issuing a press release or something of the sort re their SC2 team. They took the roster off their website, and they just said that their SC2 lineup is gone on Twitter. As regards, the others, I agree.
American clan vVv Gaming's SC2 division departed from the organisation on the 28th of January. The organisation said that they disbanded the team because 'competitive support for SC2 is continuing to decline'. Then they will continue to support Shootmania, FIFA and Call of Duty Black Ops 2. What a joke.

Luckily, nobody on the team has made a salary since JookTo's $250-300/month so there aren't many expenses when players are flying to tournaments. Shuttle left because he wanted a small salary but was shut down. He had no other choice, especially as the teams strongest and most recognizable player. He had received much larger offers but stayed with the team out of loyalty.
The "team house" is a vacation house the owner's family couldn't sell after it lost a bunch of value when the economy slowed so he's basically renting it to the NA players. The Koreans/KiLLeR stayed for free, everyone else had to pay rent to stay there.

While I appreciate the information (although most of it is not new, nor hard to figure out) I just want to state that the quickest way to make sure you are never involved with anything professional in eSports again is to openly leak information about a former employer/volunteer team/etc.

Chad hasn't been involved with management for several months or the team
EDIT: Added more information
Shuttle gone, MotoK kicked out, Dragon leaving, Shew and Siphonn retiring, KiLLeR only playing when he has to, the owner is totally MIA and not responding to anything, another new management turnover since I left. There's no more money and you guys are currently scrounging up any way to bring in a dime to keep the team alive. The team's dead, it's just time to wait for the official announcement.
You know nothing Jon Snow.
"I haven't been with the team for several months but I still know everything ok"
Still not very nice of you to kill all the work that many people did to make this organization look as professional as possible. Obviously when you have little to no funding you have to resort to those kinds of antics if you want to operate a team house and have money to send players to events.
If you really didnt gave a fuck you would not be posting here right now, just looking like a drama queen/attention whore...
Still, Adama FF'd shit up, EOT. I was a fan of clarity and shuttle since it had been created, i gave away my spot for WCS EU to Shuttle, Adama promised me signed gear in 3/4 weeks, it's half a year now, + Adama is such an ass to still read every message i sent him, and change his skype status almost everyweek, but still not giving a F.
I wouldn't really say Dream (team) and Phoenix (team) disbanded.... LoveTt simply changed the name afaik. Organization and players are all the same. The teams didn't actually "disband". Idk, it's all technicality I guess.
