I would like to hear your thoughts on reaching the semifinals of both the GSL and the OSL.
I wasn't sure that I would win today, so I'm amazed that I won 3-0. I'm even surprised myself. I've reached the semifinals of both leagues, but instead of trying to grasp straight for a championship, my initial goal is to reach the finals of at least one of the two tournaments.
You've been called the top KeSPA Protoss.
I still think it's too early to say that. I would like people to call me that after I win something (laughs).
PvP is called a matchup where victory and defeat are decided by build orders.
Build orders are especially important in PvP. If you're at a build order disadvantage, you can lose even to an amateur. I feel that my win rate is so good because I'm good at choosing my builds based on the situation at hand.
How did you prepare for your match against HerO today?
I wanted to practice on ladder, but because it was Chuseok, I was being put up against masters. But still, I couldn't let my hands get stiff, so I made sure to play one or two games, and I focused on image training by watching VODs of HerO's games.
The community is abuzz with talk about your talents. I'm curious to hear about your thoughts about this.
I'm winning today, but I don't see that as a guarantee that I'll keep winning in the future. I think that my performance is due to 30% talent and 70% effort. All players practice during the same period of time, but each player spends that time in a different way, and I feel that that's where differences in player skill emerge. BW and SC2 require different sets of talents, and I think I'm showing such good results because SC2 is more appropriate for me (laughs).
You're very good at engaging while at max supply. Is your performance in this regard a product of practice?
I do think my results are because of practice. I don't think about it too much, but when I look at my and my opponent's situations, I can usually predict the outcome.
There has been talk that Protoss is OP.
Absolutely not. I think Zerg is OP. When Zerg players said in interviews that their race was weak, my heart ached. Even on ladder, I have trouble beating Zergs.
Who would you like to meet in the semifinals?
Both Mvp and Symbol are strong, but personally, I would prefer to face a Terran, so I would like to see Mvp make it through.
I would like to hear your thoughts on making it up to the semifinals.
I'm very happy about reaching the semis. My head was aching before the match, so I anticipated that the pain would make my match a difficult one, but my coach gave me a massage. I think I was able to win thanks to my coach.
Were you satisfied with today's results?
I was. I haven't played a best of X series against Zerg in a very long while, so I'm happy to win like this.
Today, you demonstrated some great macro fights.
I think my TvZ results continue to be good because I keep preparing against Zerg. Previously, I only practiced to prepare for an individual matchup, but recently, even when I'm scheduled to face a Zerg, I play against other races in order to loosen up my hands, and I think I'm doing better because it helps me maintain my feel for the game.
How did you prepare for your games today?
Because it was Chuseok, I couldn't find anyone to play against, so I couldn't practice properly. After the end of the holiday, IM_True helped me a lot.
You've secured yourself a chance to win another GSL.
Whenever I get involved heavily in one season, I have trouble concentrating during the next one, so I don't think I perform poorly for lack of skill. This season, now that I'm at the semifinals, I want to seize my opportunity to win.
Your next opponent is Rain.
I've wanted to face him since a while back, so I'm glad that I'm able to meet him like this. Rain is a player who has lot to learn, so I hope he learns a lot from this match.
Rain is a player who has shown some excellent results. Are you confident about facing him?
I do feel confident. I haven't gotten acquainted with Rain yet, so I would like to take this chance to get to know him more. But as for the match, I want to be the one to win (laughs).
Today, you've made use of both bio and mech compositions.
In the past, I had more confidence in my mech play, so I primarily used mech compositions, but nowadays, I've built up confidence in my bio play, too, through practice. I think that mixing up my unit compositions gives Zerg players a harder time.
Zerg players have been looking very strong lately.
My win rate during practice hasn't been good, so I used to feel a lot of stress. Now, I play with the mindset that tournament results are what really matter, so I feel less anxious than before.
Before, Terran looked like the most powerful race, but that doesn't appear to be the case anymore.
Terran is not as good [as it used to be], but I think the race is strong enough to get me through.
Since Symbol is the one who took down several of your teammates, you must have felt some nervousness.
He is a good player, but I wanted to win against him even more after he beat my teammates. I think I was able to win because I went up against Symbol rather than a different player.
You've revealed your confidence in playing in best of X series. Are you confident going into your match against Rain, too?
I still feel confident. Now that Rain has won so often, I think it's time that he lost (laughs). If Rain reads this interview, I want to tell him that it's time for him to lose (laughs).
Any last words?
I would like send my thanks to IM_True and my team's Terran players, who helped me with practice. IM_horror came down with an eye disease, so I hope that he gets better quickly. I also want to thank my parents for always cheering for me. I'm grateful to LG, SteelSeries, NVidia, Coca-Cola, and Googims, my team's sponsors. Finally, the weather has gotten chilly recently, so I hope everyone takes care not to catch a cold.

lol, Rain having trouble with zergs on ladder? Are there some hidden zerg bonjwa on korean ladders we do not know about? Of course, I am sure guys like Leenock, Life, DRG, Symbol would give him a run for his money. But I would say they are even at best. From the Kespa side, only Roro seems to be close to that level right now. Or course, with few games from Kespa, it is hard to tell.

As far as GSL goes we seem to get an amazing semi final almost every season on paper at least.
I mean, last season we had DRG vs MC. On paper that's amazing, just ended up a bit poor. I know I was anticipating the crap out of it in advance though.
But yes. Rain vs MVP I think everyone is looking forward to.

I mean it really is first come first serve.
Nobody is the designated translator of GSL interviews, and if we really started telling people, no you can't translate this because seeker or someone else gets to... well that would be pretty stupid and counterintuitive.
Monopolizing something because of ego is pretty bad, and we've seen more than one outburst from Seeker after someone takes his LR thread / etc. Don't have anything against the guy, but its far from given that Seeker is the main translator or something.

Yes, most Kespa interviews are pretty tame compare to the controversial 'foreigners'. That was the point I was trying to say.

Im sorry but im slowly starting to lose patience here.
Both Kespa and ESF are pretty ass boring on average compared to 'foreigners' in interviews.
Comparing only 1 party with omitting other is only hurtful comparison for 1st, and a good way to discredit someone. Why did you make this so excplicit in your first post to even add that Fantasy and Bisu (which are again an icons of Kespa not ESF) are now the dishwashers.
If you wanted to be more objective and closer to the truth you would say:

Rofl, chill out. I didn't mean it at all as a kespa vs eSF thing. Although Kespa's manner classes have a bit to do with it. Even when the first koreans started doing interviews that were translated by the community (players like Mvp, Nestea, MKP, MC, etc), it was known that 'koreans' were much more 'tame' and gave more 'cookie-cutter' responses and things like korean culture and Kespa mannerism classes were bought out. I used the Fantasy and Bisu as something controversial that Rain wouldn't say.
Not sure why I have to be objective when I wasn't even trying to compare the two. If I was, I would have said "Kespa pros interviews are lame and eSF pros are so much better". Just seems to me you just got ultra defensive towards Kespa for no apparent reason.

I personally enjoy reading korean interviews, thats why i called him on presenting facts in a way he did("Kespa players are boring besides FBH"). From his answer to my post you couldnt decipher whether its ESF vs Kespa again or simple opinion. Ambiguous comments like that make a bad reading.
So yes i also made a mistake while calling someone's mistake for that im sorry.

Rain is a veteran in a different way though. Yes, it's his first time in anything big in SC2, but he's got the BW experience that the others lacked on a top level. But nope, MVP rolled them because thats what he does. Time and time again he proves us wrong, because he's a winner. And winners win.
Parting lost because he got overconfident. Squirtle lost because he choked under pressure.
Rain is a veteran in a different way though. Yes, it's his first time in anything big in SC2, but he's got the BW experience that the others lacked on a top level. I'm fairly confident Rain will stand up for himself in a way that the other tosses were unable to, and quite frankly that's all he needs.
" Parting lost because he got overconfident "
So you play worse when you get overconfident or what? If that's the excuse It's a pretty pitiful one.
When you get overconfident you react badly to unforeseen losses and in general, you will not take your opponent seriously enough to adequately prepare.

Should be an amazing semifinals no matter what, but I'm gonna have to agree on Rain 3-1. Mvp is looking as strong as ever, but Rain is looking nigh unbeatable. Yes, the same could be said for PartinG/Squirtle/Symbol in the last seasons but this is something else. Rain is crushing everyone everywhere no matter what, and with his lategame PvT skills and Mvp's wrists in a drawn out session, the stars would really have to align for Mvp if he's gonna make his way out of this one.

I find that "Squirtle choked" excuse really stupid. He was 3-0 down and came back to 3-3 thats not choking under pressure. More like playing unbelievably good under pressure... Anyways, Rain has been playing really well, but it looks like royal roaders will always be doomed to lose so i think Mvp has this .

It's just as laughable when K-Brad starting feeling himself in the SF4:AE finals at Season's Beatings and almost got downloaded by Infiltration? Or when Life didn't prepare for his Code A match and got stomped by Leenock? You underestimate how much overconfidence can cloud your judgment, and Mvp was not one of the favorites in that season. People thought that his injuries were too big of an obstacle to overcome. Even Mvp was not that confident in his interviews and Parting is known for being cocky. Remember that the series happened just after Mvp failed to win the NVIDIA Gaming Festival (which should have been a freebie given the competition there) and he was looking incredibly weak in the months leading up to it.

if you saw the first three games it was quite obvious that he was making mistakes we did not see him do anytime during the tournament up to that point, like rallying immortals across the map for nothing etc

He would have won easily if he played at his usual level in at least 4 games... Yes he choked, there is a reason he lost in a lot of finals.

Remember when MVP beat Naniwa in ro4 (if I'm not mistaken)? He realizes his wrist problems and when someone is in a better condition than him. And also the weaknesses and strengths of Protoss/Terran early game. I don't think he will allow for rain to take advantage of them
Although, Rain is 10x more solid than Naniwa looked back then, and any of the other three. Except Parting maybe, but a player who is on such a dominant streak can be shaken if it doesn't go his way very easily.

then winning 3 games in a row to win the whole tournement........
Anyone find it ironic that MVP commented about the weather when his next opponent will be "Rain" in which case MVP predicted the weather forecast of their next match to be a cold and rainy day :D
ALso that the game is made by Blizzard which also associates with cold.

I know that Mvp hasn't always been up to his top level, but the NVIDIA Gaming Festival can't be used as an example as it was twitted everywhere before the matches that Mvp had food poisoning. Plus you've got to remember that Mvp is not treated on the same standard as every other pro. As soon as he loses a match, everybody says he is in a slump (remember GSL S1 when he only lost twice to Gumiho, but still a lot of people were going crazy on how Mvp was never going to win ever again and he took the next GSL). The fact is that he's been more inconsistent since the beginning of 2012 and he plays so few tournaments than as soon as he gets eliminated from GSL, everybody considers that he is playing bad.
But at the moment, he is in great form and I definitely think that Mvp can stop Rain. I'm not saying he is the clear favourite, but we only had the occasion to watch Rain win in three big TvPs yet (Byun, Polt and Taeja), and two of those players are definitely worse than Mvp at the moment. He may very well not play up to his level in those games or show some weaknesses that we haven't seen before. Considering he has lost against Happy once already this season, there is nothing certain for me at the moment.
Conclusion, Mvp has taught me to trust him in every situation and he seems both motivated and confident, so I have a good feeling toward this semi-final. It's going to be great anyway !

It's impossible for him to ever live up to the hype, even if he wins GSL.
Mvp's going to take this GSL home! His Ro8 games certainly left a message for us to see:
He told us the weather was cold and we should prevent ourselves from getting a cold. You know what also gives colds? By.Rain! By giving us this warning, he has saved us from getting a cold...
it's obviously subliminal messaging that Mvp will save GSL from Rain and claim the trophy for non-Kespa players once more!

The point was not that Mvp was inconsistent but that Parting had a reason to be overconfident for his Ro8 series in Season 2. Even discounting the NVIDIA Gaming Festival (I was unaware of the circumstances, thank you for mentioning them) Mvp was performing far below expectations.

No, the exact same was said for Parting Squirtle when MVP won last time. They were dominating UNBELIEVABLY hard, harder than Rain has been doing. Squirtle didn't drop a single fucking map. They were crushing favorites, and nobody, besides the most diehard MVP fans thought he even stood a chance of taking a map.
But nope, MVP rolled them because thats what he does. Time and time again he proves us wrong, because he's a winner. And winners win.
Parting lost because he got overconfident. Squirtle lost because he choked under pressure.
they lost and they are much worse, despite huge injury

Rain is a veteran in a different way though. Yes, it's his first time in anything big in SC2, but he's got the BW experience that the others lacked on a top level. I'm fairly confident Rain will stand up for himself in a way that the other tosses were unable to, and quite frankly that's all he needs.
The BW experience means nothing. Plenty of veterans lack the mental discipline that Rain possesses right now, and this is the same case in every sport. [/QUOTE] oh it means nothing. so veterans have the same average mental quality as nonveterans?

" Parting lost because he got overconfident "
So you play worse when you get overconfident or what? If that's the excuse It's a pretty pitiful one.
When you get overconfident you react badly to unforeseen losses and in general, you will not take your opponent seriously enough to adequately prepare.

If Parting didn't take Mvp seriously that's laughable, I refuse to believe that.
You underestimate how much overconfidence can cloud your judgment, and Mvp was not one of the favorites in that season.
i dont know how retarded one would have to be to think a match where youre not the favourite is a virtually given win. just where are you getting this from? yes he wasnt one of the favourites, he was the favourite
