NOTE: Not everything should be taken literally. The trash talk could be just playful banter between each other. And it could also be serious too. A lot of context is lost when something is translated. These people mostly all know each other and don't really have any aggressive meanings behind what they say. They do it to entertain the viewers and fans.
JangBi: I'm going to pick someone who's really good. BaBy: I'm going to grab a cow and bring it to the Samsung team house. There is a player I really want to pick. PartinG: I'm going to show you that you're going to regret your choice. BaBy: I think of PartinG as nothing but a walking 1 win ticket. PartinG: I haven't shown all of my PvT skills. I'm going to teach you a hard lesson. I really want you to pick me.
JangBi --> DongRaeGu JangBi: I'm going to pick a person who's really good in me eyes. DRG: I've been playing poorly lately but thanks for lifting me up. JangBi: I'll make sure you keep playing poorly.
DRG: Lately I've been playing poorly so it's been hard for me. But after the StarLeague I'm going to reverse my attitude. Truth be told, I wanted to play against the top three KeSPA players and see if it was difference of talent. One of the three that I wanted to pick went over to a different group. MKP: You play SC2 as well as I do. So how about me? DRG: I've lost to you many times but I've also beaten you many times. So I want someone new. MKP: JangBi picked DRG but I am confident I won't lose to JangBi. If you pick me, I promise I'll take down JangBi. DRG: The most important point is not that you'll get JangBi. It's that I'll be the one advancing. MKP: Then I'll pick a very easy player. JangBi: You were a Protoss player back in the BW days and IIRC, you were known for your proxy gates. Correct? MKP: That is correct. JangBi: Of course right now, the GSL players are better than us. They've had a two year head start. But I think we will catch up eventually. DRG: After hearing JangBi talk, I think I'm going to have to change my mind. I'm going to have to consider it.
DongRaeGu --> MarineKing DRG: For this StarLeague, I'm going to work hard to grab the royal road that I wasn't able to achieve back in the BW days. MKP: OSL is not where I got second place so I don't think the Kong Line applies to me here. Since this is my first StarLeague I'm going to show some great games. Host: Who are you thinking about picking? MKP: I'm going to pick the player I want to pick. It's not like who we have to pick is written in stone... DRG: Well this is disappointing. I didn't realize you were the type of guy who would manipulate your hyungs just to get what you want. MKP: Well I'm normally not like this but a guy's got live so...
MarineKing --> By.Sun MKP: I'm good at TvZ but Sun is really good. Truth be told, I really like Jaedong. I wanted to see his plays but he lost so I couldn't get to see his plays. I'm a little frustrated about that so... (laughs) Sun: I really wanted to be in Group A so thank you for picking me. You say you're really good at TvZ so I wanted to show you a different game but I wasn't able to. This time I'll show you some proper games. DRG: I think this group nomination just screwed me over. Sun: If I put in the effort, I think I can at least make it to the Ro4. MKP: In my eyes, the eight KeSPA players are like candy. I will peel off the wrappers and enjoy myself.
Fanta: I want to give my teammate the Group D seed. BeSt: I am grateful. If not now then when will I ever get a chance to get a seed? I will suck all the medicine and then nominate.
FanTaSy --> NesTea Fanta: It's going to be a royal road... Oh wait! It's a joke. Lately the water's been rising for Zergs so I was going to pick them but the only remaining Zerg was NesTea. I'm going to prepare extensively for the one week I have. NesTea: I had a feeling I was going to get picked. Thanks for picking me. Last OSL, FanTaSy made it to the finals and grabbed second place but this time I think he's going to get knocked out in the Ro16. I don't really have any friends here but I haven't been looking to be in good condition so I thought I was going to get picked first. I'm going to create a really strong group. Fanta: It doesn't matter. My goal is the Ro8. If the fans cheer hard for me I will show some really great games in return.
NesTea: There was only one player I truly wanted to play against but he got picked already. It was Flash. In the past, he was just a little kid. I have a lot of consideration for him since I'm so old. Flash: I'm a really nice guy. I'm alive thanks to NesTea hyung. NesTea: I'm considering who to pick right now. I think I'll pick someone who's friendly with me. It'll be fine as long as we both advance.
NesTea --> Oz NesTea: We hang out a lot and even drink together and talk about our worries. Oz: He's always like this. He told me ever since the GSL days that he was going to pick me and never did. And now he picks me? I wanted to go to Group C. Host: Cause of PartinG? Oz: That's right. He's a guy with a lot of problems. I lost to his by a score of 0:3 in the Ro8. We said that if we met, whoever won would make it all the way to the finals. Man, Mvp hyung was even still available. Ah... I think NesTea hyung is tired. NesTea: ... Host: FanTaSy has beaten Oz before. Oz: It's been such a long time that I don't think he remembers. Fanta: Oh I remember. It was a game that I won after I was about to lose so I even remember all the details. Host: Could you tell us about it? Oz: Don't you dare. Fanta: If you're wondering what happened, please go find the VOD. (laughs) NesTea: Back in the BW days, I beat both Oz and FanTaSy. So I think this is going to be doable since it'll be easy.
Oz: NesTea hyung said that we should advance together, but I'm only gonna care about myself advancing. NesTea hyung said that he wants us to advance together but he probably picked me cause he actually thinks I'm easy to beat. There aren't many players left. I'm not going to purposely pick someone hard, I want a easy road. I'm going to pick a Terran. (only remaining Terran player at this point was Last)
Oz --> Last Oz: I used to watch ProLeague but it got so boring that I stopped. Recently, I've started watching ProLeague again because I was wondering, "do they really have any talent?" But I think talent depends on the individual. Last: I was thinking to myself that it'd be great if Oz picked me. I wanted to play a TvZ. On my way to the group nominations I just kept thinking to myself for no specific reason that I wanted to play against a Zerg. FanTaSy hyung is a Terran like me so I think it'll be doable. I've seen Oz play before and I don't think he's all that good. Oz: Let's just play each other peacefully. I came here ready to pick a fight but I think things have heated up too much. I want to thank the fans for always cheering for me. KeSPA players are not cowards. They were just approached first. There's a lot of talk about washing dishes and I'm sure Flash washed dishes as well. NesTea hyung, you've washed dishes too right? It's an inevitable factor that the B-teamers have to face. Washing dishes is really tiring. It's important to treat the B-teamers correctly. Last: This is my first ever StarLeague participation so I'm going to show some great games.
NOTE: The joke about dish washing was explained to me by LowEloPlayer. He posted this in my WCS interview thread.
On August 21 2012 22:02 LowEloPlayer wrote: Hey SeeKeR, not sure if you'll be reading this since it's on page 5 but the "red sponge contortionist" has to do with a joke that the kespa players have about the gsl players. They say that the B-teamers wash the dishes and call the GSL the Global seol guji league (global dishwashing league), and say that they should give the 3 time winners of GSL a golden sponge until the kespa players take over.
I'm not sure, though, why they called PartinG the red sponge. I don't know what kind of cultural significance the color red has, if any, so I'm clueless on that one.
BaBy: These days, the team's atmosphere is really good and I get to pick a player I want to pick so I think I'll easily float on to the Ro8. Truth be told, I thought FanTaSy hyung or JangBi hyung would pick me but they didn't so I'm relieved.
BaBy --> PartinG PartinG: I didn't realize that I'd get a chance to grab him this easily. I don't know why I was the only one given a free win. BaBy: I've seen him play before and I got the feeling that he just isn't that good. I want to teach him a lesson so I picked him. PartinG: I'm going to make him feel it next week. I thought he was joking around so I wasn't concerned with it but now it's time for me to teach him a lesson.
PartinG: July hyung made me wash the dishes. Every time he's done eating something he goes "here you go PartinG". July hyung is mean. That's why I said in the GSL interviews that I would send him straight to the preliminaries. Host: Anything you would like to say to July? PartinG: July hyung, what I said before, I was kidding. I have some money in my wallet so I'm going to buy you something yummy.
PartinG --> Mvp PartinG: I lost to him in the GSL Ro4. He even ignored me in the waiting room. I know I deserved it somewhat but I still hold a grudge. I'm going to get my revenge. Mvp: PartinG stated that he wouldn't lose to me even before he faced me. I've done something like that before as well so I was just trying to get a message across to him that he shouldn't do that. I'm in the same group with BaBy so I'm excited since we'll be able to play some fun games since I've met him before. BaBy already stated this but PartinG is a walking 1 win ticket, so I think I'll be fine. BaBy: Such wise words from a man who has won many tournaments. PartinG: Strangely enough, I seem to be only be able to take a deep sigh. I think I'm reaching my mental limit. I really want next week to arrive already. I don't think I'll forget this moment until the day I reitre.
Mvp: It's an honor to be here at the OSL and I feel so happy that I get to play against KeSPA players. I'm good friends with Woongjin players so I didn't want to face any of them. Flash: At the time, I was a better player than you and I had a 10 win streak against you. But then, I lost to you completely in skill so I got flustered. Right now I am watching you and learning from you but I really do want to play against you Mvp. Mvp: I also really like Flash. I want to play some fun games against him and I want to be the winner.
Mvp --> Flying Mvp: Flying wasn't there when I was with Woongjin. I still haven't been able to say one word to Flying. I wish he would talk to me more. Also, San stated that he didn't want to come. Flying: I am glad that Mvp picked me. He's a king to the others but not to me. Just like it is with Super Mario and Metal Slug, the road to the King is the hard part, the King itself is easy if you know what you're doing. Host: I think you should heed to words of the producers of these games and work hard to beat him. Mvp: I don't want to be considered a King to Flying. I want to advance after playing some really fun games with him. After all, we do have a guaranteed 1 win in our group... PartinG: ㅡㅡ;; I thought he was just playing around at first but I really think he's enjoying it now. Now my feelings are hurt. I think I'm going to have to advance as #1. Host: Are you going to put this in your mind? PartinG: Of course. Mvp: JangBi hyung states that it's only been a couple of months since he started SC2 so there is a skill difference but I achieved #1 ladder ranking in 3 months and got a GSL title in 2 months so that excuse doesn't work anymore JangBi. JangBi: Back then, there weren't many KeSPA players so you won really quickly. Mvp: A lot of fans seem to fighting because of the whole KeSPA vs GSL debate. This is something I realized after attending foreign tournaments in America and Europe but they are really developed over there. Meanwhile, over here, we haven't developed at all. I hope we can all get along for the growth of eSports. Flying: They keep saying PartinG is a walking 1 win victory card but to me, he is a great player. PartinG: (claps) I've known Flying hyung since the eSTRO days. Even in those days I would do the dishes. Flying: (breathes) I'm going to correct myself. PartinG is a walking 1 win card. This group is going to be difficult. But I definitely want to beat PartinG.
BeSt: I plan on picking someone known as the Protoss president. MC: You talk a lot for someone who even lost to me in BW. BeSt: Just cause you beat me back then doesn't change the fact that you did the dishes. MC: I have never done the dishes. BeSt: Oh, then you probably cleaned the house.
BeSt --> MC MC: I'm going to pick someone good just for you, BeSt. BeSt: I'm already anticipating that I'm going to get eliminated. I think MC is going to get eliminated as well. I don't care who you pick. MC: I like the Protoss players in SKT T1 so this is awkward. I'm grateful that you picked me though. I also wanted to get picked. Since I don't hold any grudges I am going to pick a Terran player you want. BeSt: I don't have any regrets. I'll get through the Dual Tournament and make it.
San: This is not my thoughts, it's just something I've heard. People say BeSt is the worst player. BeSt: I also think so. Truth be told, I picked MC cause I like him. I'm going to ask MC what is the secret to beating San. MC: (CALL!) BeSt: Oh! He's going to tell me. I'm just going to prepare my games for San. I'm going to show everyone that San is below me. San: I don't have any thoughts of advancing either. But I will beat BeSt.
(For some reason, it ends here. Which is strange.....) MC --> Flash Flash --> San
The live audience was just icing on the cake. I think for the Oz+Nestea interactions, the VOD made is just that much better when he stated that Nestea at one point was doing dishes. And what made the fantasy/best portion hliarious because it was like "I think my teammates best will need it so Im giving it to him" Commentator: "I'm sure you have some self-pride to reject your teammates offer for a free seed and choice of opponent" Best: "well...um..firstly, I want to thank fantasy for the seed ..."
Mvp: JangBi hyung states that it's only been a couple of months since he started SC2 so there is a skill difference but (내가 3주하고 래더 1위하고 2달하고 우승했다. 3개월 드립은 안먹힐 것 같다. I honestly have no idea what this sentence means. I am really confused -.-;; )
Something along the lines of MVP getting to the top of the ladder in only a few months and winning a GSL soon after, so Jangbi has no excuses about only playing for 3 months.
(vaguely paraphrasing supernovamaniac's live translation, but maybe that gives context to help with a translation of the transcription)
--
Group D did end where the transcription says, but there should be something from Flash between MC's selection and San getting defaulted into the group.

JangBi halfheartedly retorted by saying that "Mvp won GSL because there weren't any KeSPA players.... MAYBE..."
Thank you SeeKeR for giving this piece of work to us, also thank you to the translater on stream!
OSL group selections were pretty awesome everytime, this time with the GSL vs Kespa thing it was pretty funny again. I hope this will continue in the future.

Supernovamaniac or something, a TL user. I saw it too on the livestream. And i think it's correct.

Yeah but that doesn't make Seekers efforts go waste, i read this thread too and some things are a lil bit better ;-)
MKP: In my eyes, the eight KeSPA players are like candy. I will peel off the wrappers and enjoy myself.
I'll be looking forward to this, also to DRG mvp nestea and MC owning the rest. Hopefully this tournament will be another notch on nesteas belt, it's been a while since he won a tournament.

Aside from that not everyone saw it. xD
no of course not, there's not even logs of SNM's work. Was just clearing up who "SNM" was referring to for Seeker.
(laughs)
mvp was a boss during the ceremony. Totally chill and didn't play into the whole rivalry crap (but is probably gonna do better than most players that did).

kekeke I assume Fantasy is referring to ~19:00 in that video
and what, trash talk is the best part about group selection! people in Group D seemed pretty sure they'd lose though (except MC and maybe Flash)... and lol poor Parting

lmao Jangbi. I literally burst out laughing reading this at the airport.
Jangbi so boss, both in game and out. I hope he he wins this OSL.
Flash was talking about Brood War, not SC2 when he said that he lost to MVP. Flash was at his peak and had a huge win streak but lost to MVP in a macro game which was a shock to him.

Oh god, thought this was WCS. I can still apply that to a general opinion on Protoss these days
But looking at the Protoss here.. I can't see any way that anyone can call MC boring -_- Parting as I already said has a very exciting PvT style... give me a break!

that's a mis translation- MVP: I achieved #1 ladder in 3 weeks and won GSL in 2 months, so the arguement of of we had a head start won't work.

Remember when everyone was so scared of him (right before MVP beat him)? I feel like I am missing something to.
PartinG was super cocky in his GSL run to Ro4. Even saying MVP was easy, etc and ended up losing 3-0 iirc.
I think he managed to take a game off Mvp. But before the series he was already talking about the finals, because "terrans are food" and there was no way he would lose in the semis. Anyway, they're just joking with him.

I don't really like all this trash talking, because it will only give the rabid idiots more to use when they start whining or bragging. I hope everyone (the fans mostly) can just have fun and stop shitting on the players.
Edit: To be clear I enjoy group nominations and trash talking. I just hate it when stupid fans take it seriously and get all butt hurt and start causing more of a divide in the community
there really was a lot of animosity between the kespa players, and some of the gsl players. It was kind of hard to watch, as they kept on bringing up the whole b-team aspect. I really hope the gsl players don't get discouraged, or too pressured, and that the kespa players should learn some manners, as they are studying the GSL players' games, and are learning from them.

hmm when I read what Oz said after initally stopping 3/4 of the way through it seems like some of them felt it was a bit too serious... sucks to see people you cheer for in that kind of situation. Hopefully they can get along and treat each other well. The treating B teamers like crap thing sure seems pretty lame to me though. No wonder so many failed.

Edit: To be clear I enjoy group nominations and trash talking. I just hate it when stupid fans take it seriously and get all butt hurt and start causing more of a divide in the community

Just like how Oz said it, even Flash and Nestea washed the dishes. Everyone have gone through the identical process. And the 'survivor' which is actually a huge majority of players (only a minority of B-teamers went to play StarTwo) stuck with it and turn out to be really successful.
Like seriously who didn't get picked by the higher up when they enter into any working environment?
You stick with it and then as you achieve the same status as the predecessors, you are now able to perform the same crude jokes.

I am not complaining about trash talking; in fact I enjoy it.
What I have a problem with is idiot fans (on both sides) who will blow it out of proportion and create an even bigger divide between both sides.
And I am a fan of both games. I just want to see good quality games. Don't care if the player is from GSL or Kespa

GSL code S group selections were the same. The players talk trash, it's part of the entertainment. I don't think any of them seriously hate each other. I didn't get to watch this though, maybe something got lost in translation.

Thanks for the translation, I found that quite amusing. Standouts of trashtalk go to Mkp and Parting in my eyes, Parting was just too funny to me for some reason, definitely made me a fan.

You have to see it live, they were all constantly laughing.
Parting doesn't even have a TLPD entry from his eSTRO days... guess he was a practice partner? (Everyone who got their progamer license played OSL/MSL prelims right?)
JangBi: I'm going to pick a person who's really good in me eyes. DRG: I've been playing poorly lately but thanks for lifting me up. JangBi: I'll make sure you keep playing poorly.
