Think before you post. This should go without saying, there are so many people making absolutely idiotic comments in this thread. If you have nothing constructive to say, please don't say anything.

I am all for stephano going to a team that will pay him the most, you can only be a pro gamer for so long might as well get as much money as possible. As for his play its on him, not the team, sure the team can manage him but at the end of the day he is going to improve and work as hard as he wants regardless of the team. Best of luck to him and where ever he ends up, I love watching his play.

I hear they're paying him 10 million a year.

Joining EG is probably not a good idea. Players they have never improve. Maybe you will get an "awesome salary", but you will lose your skill. Do you remember Huk? He left Liquid for EG's money, and where he is now? Same with other EG players. They are bad in terms of skill. You will probably have a good chance to become a popular caster though.

The amount of cluelessness and lack of logic in posts like these is astounding. It's amazing how hard people to try convince themselves that EG is the bad guy when the reality is that it's not their fault that no other teams can afford what they can. Yet somehow it's evil to offer great players salaries they are deserving of.

What EG is doing is really not honorable, not matter how indirectly. Less fortunate teams cannot play SC money ball style because starcraft is not a team based game. Specialists don't really work except in team leagues but individual wins are way more prestigious than ipl tac or gstl. When a team takes all the players that produce results before joining said team, that creates a monopoly because on paper, all the good players are on one team. Thus the EG curse. I call it karma. Universe is working as it should be.

No. No, no, no. That's retarded, seriously. Most progamers are working their asses off for very little pay. EG is the only one that offers players a fair full-time salary for a competitive player. Asking players to make less money just because it's more honorable or some stupid shit is retarded - we NEED players to get paid more, consistently, by more teams. EG is the only one on the right track.

think its a great move for stephano if its true. he'll get a great deal and all the support he needs. not a eg fan myself but I don't hate either, they promote their sponsors really well as well as their players. great pick up for their team if true.

Good luck to Stephano and his future team.

A million times this. DPB always has an abundance of quality posts in threads like these. This whole things is silly and honestly surprised this thread is still open, because really it's all just speculation until this whole deal actually goes through. I'm also surprised that many of you (including Stephano's die hard fans) would be upset that he went to a team that's obviously going to pay him well and take good care of him. Man this community hurts my brain sometimes with it's logic.

It's funny, people complain that EG can afford to pay Stephano a salary that is at most comparable to a real life job - oh wow! How terrible that EG spends so much money! Paying $50,000 + benefits (travel) is like being the NY Yankees.

Thank goodness there's a non-Korean organization out there that can actually be self-sustainable and profitable while providing its employees with decent remuneration.

He wont stop producing results. It will be the same for him if he was playing at home or Mill house or EG, becuase he doesn't have to learn stuff to improve, he just experiments in his head. The only difference will be Milleniums $1000 per month salary versus $2500-3500 per month salary at EG.

Good luck man, you deserve it.

I hear its more like +15k$ per month.

I hope you're not delusional enough to believe that.

They make $50-60k a year MAX... and I think I'm being generous there.

Honestly most of you are probably not out of high school and don't have a clue about salaries in the real world...

$15k/month = $180,000 / year. That's more than engineers with 20 years work experiences, on par with average doctors salaries, etc..

You really believe someone who plays a video game that ONLY contributes sponsor exposure makes THAT much money?

Seriously, you people need to get a clue.

You got no idea what you talking about. Stephano will get one of the world´s highest payed salaries for a Starcraft player. 15k$ per month isn't bad guess. I think it will be between 12-16k$ but we will see I'm sure EG will PR the shit out of his salary

And BTW I'm a mechanical engineer I know exactly how much we make!

I can guarantee you that Stephano will not make $15k per month. It's a horrible guess. Remember the WC3 teams when they paid their players enormous salaries for not that much prize money in return--they all died. Stephano might be one of the best foreigners in the world but $180k per year is way too much when you compute all the prize money and streaming money. There's probably money from publicity and sponsors, but even the most popular sc2 players won't make enough money to compensate for that big of a paycheck. Hell, I even doubt HuK even makes six figures. For a guy that makes at most $30k prize money per year, I doubt all the streaming and sponsor money is enough to justify six figures.

true, he'll probably be on like $1000 a month tops imo, if that

$1000 (~800€)? I know how much Socke and HasuObs earn (around) and if Stephano really get 1000$/month in his new contract, my head will explode.

why you think that is too much or too little?

I really don't think there is that much money in esports to pay someone anything close to approaching five figures and have seen no evidence to suggest otherwise

Let's say an example: Hasu earn 500$/month, imo stephano deserve more than double, rather triple or quadruple.
Ofcourse i won't say how much they earn.

Mana told in one of several interviews that he earn 13,5k yearly at mouz. I can say that because he made it public.

So it means MaNa receives pretty much the same salary as Adelscott. I thought Mouz paid his players better.

Really great addition to EG.

They have sick protoss-players in JYP and HuK,
awesome Terrans in Puma, Demuslim and Thorzain,
and virtually no competetive Zergs, barring Suppy, who's still sort of dark-horsey, since he hasn't been in the picture for long.

No offense to Machine, who is certainly decent, but hasn't been able to show really impressive tournament results.

You may, or may not be(but probably are) retarded.

good for stephano for finding a nice paying job! all the haters umad ubad.

i only hope that eg can sustain all these purchases and contracts though, they must be mighty expensive. and i hope they figure out a way to keep their players from not sucking once they join. but it hardly matters. stephano is smart, make as much money now, and then get into med school. its not really proven that esports is going to go anywhere when its just as likely to collapse horribly in a few years, so definitely a bad idea to sink your entire life into gaming.

for some people, money gets to them and unmotivates them, why win a tournament when you can take it easy and make good money regardless. but I really hope it doesn't get to him, I hope the money motivates him more, so that he proves that he deserves what he gets. best of luck to the guy, never really liked or disliked the guy, so whatever happens happens.

Continuing to hate on EG for paying players what they deserve. The double standards in this community amaze me. You want esports to be successful but you hate the only successful (business wise) team
